Love your order, bonus points for Castle of Burgundy. Such a cohesive thematic and packed game. Minor point, it was a tiny bit hard too follow if you were rating a game higher than bgg did. It showed visually on the board but could have used a +/- # of spots on the screen
Awesome! I`m definitely not a coop fan. The only coop mechanism I like is the Gloom one. Also, I`ve recently played Brass: Birmingham, and to be honest it's freaking good! So the list is: 1) Twilight Imperium: Fourth Edition 2) Dune: Imperium 3) Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion 4) Brass: Birmingham 5) Scythe 6) The Castles of Burgundy 7) Great Western Trail 8) Gloomhaven 9) Ark Nova 10) Eclipse: Second Dawn for the Galaxy Perhaps Rebellion and WOTR could join the game instead of the last 2, but unfortunately these are 2-player games and I have no one to play them with
You should play "7 wonders Duel" 3 more times, specially if you can play 2 out of 3, it would shine. It is a game that, in my opinion, shines more the more you play. The way you discarded it immediately made me think, they haven't played it enough against each other. I might be wrong, especially if you are not up for games that are very confrontational, and stressful against another player. But seeing that you also chose TS as one of the top 10, and top 3 for that matter, then I think 7 wonders plays are missing. That is the only explanation. ;)
This is such a great game! The expansions are a must but I love the challenge of military, science, politics, or just points if the game makes it all 3 rounds. Absolutely love this one!!
@@asqik Did you play it agains someone you know or someone you don't know? I think this game has shined for me because I started playing it against my best friend. We play a lot of games together, and that means we play a lot less 7 wonders duel than we used to, but bragging rights are always kept by the last "Duel winner". I think this game also works better if you are able to interact with the same person over and over. Or the alternative is playing with people that know the game really well. There is nothing like the sweet sweet feeling of knowing that you are going to be beaten by points and managing to score a scientific or military victory. Or the stress of knowing that you are going to win, but your opponent might still get the winning card on one of the face down reveals.
Great list! Dang you guys really know how to talk about games! I haven't played any of these. I just got Brass Birmingham but haven't played it yet. I got Terraforming Mars and Castles of Burgundy coming and now I'm super intrigued with the rest on your list... except Spirit Island. Thanks!

1:29 Hi...can you do a video comparing the best DUNE board games...pros/cons. I would like to hear what are your opinions .I feel i like Dune War for Arrakis, but you guys like empirum. ❤ Thanks! Love your videos 🎉
Not a fan of war so also not of war games... I like that you guys picked Castles of Burgundy. Like you said I love that it's much simpler and less bombastic... And one of the games that were brilliant from the beginning with a lot of great mini expansions to make it even better in 1 box. It didn't need 5 big expansions to fix all unbalanced or lucky problems, like 'I'm sorry' Dune Imperium... Too much experience with 1 or 2 intrige cards that decided the whole game
1. Gaia Project 2. Scythe 3. Spirit Island 4. 7 Wonders Duel 5. Brass Birmingham 6. Castles of Burgundy 7. Gloomhaven (only played JotL) 8. Through the Ages (only played once, could be higher) 9. Dune Imperium (only played once, might not be top 10) 10. Terraforming Mars (Definitely not a top 10 game, but I haven't played the others) Im getting Eclipse, so it will be interesting where it falls :-).
First, I don't tend to rank campaign games like Gloomhaven or Pandemic Legacy with regular board games since they may be awesome while playing them but after you're finished with the campaign they just sit on the shelf (or are sold) and aren't touched except for maybe some nostalgia thing. So here's my top ten rearrangement list: 1 Scythe 2 Terraforming Mars 3 Spirit Island 4 Gaia Project 5 Castles of Burgundy 6 Ark Nova 7 Dune Imperium 8 Brass Birmingham 9 GWT 10 Eclipse And Dune Imperium is actually just a stand-in for Lost Ruins of Arnak which I like much better. Dune Imperium would not be on my list.
Wow, Brass Birmingham wasn't even considered. Since I started board gaming ten years ago, this is the first game I feel that BGG Rank 1 was correct. Gloomhaven and Pandemic aren't even in my top 20.
The great thing about Brass is its variability. You can play it quick (compared to other games on this list), the design is great, there is much complexity with just few mechanics, quite simple to learn, impossible to master and you can play it with two, three or even four people and it will work. Therefore it should be in every Top10 list, even though it's no one's favourite and fully deserved Top game on BGG.
Ah, you are correct sir. Back in the day they used to call me Bad Call Johny (Jānis is a Latvian name for John). Thanks for watching and the comment ;) /JG
