I love how Kevin got so baffled by the idea of 1800s cakes🤣 that sequence had me giggling so hard. Also the chaos caused by following a new recipe made me feel so much better about my own kitchen disasters! New recipes are destined to create chaos lol
Actually! Anne Reardon sometimes makes videos in which she bakes ancient recipes! It’s incredibly interesting, so if you want to know what kind of cake the royalty back then was eating you could watch her!
My little d&d heart loves this video!!! Such a fun idea and the cake came out so cool! Also for future reference, when you roll a d4, you read the number at the top of the pyramid. You'll see the same number printed on each of those sides. Also also the dice and dice tower are suuuuuuper cute and this video gives me the same kind of energy that one of my d&d characters has 😂
depends on the dice however, i have a bunch of d4s that read off the bottom as the number is in the middle of the side. i much prefer the top point reading ones though.
It is hard to believe than neither of them see the pattern or see the actual number on the top part. 😅😂🤣 But I do have to agree that the dice are beautiful !
Can you PLEASE make this into a series! I love it so much! Your artistic touch with the decorations was amazing! Also, the pure chaos almost made me wake up my son with how hard I was laughing. Your channel is such a delight to watch and rewatch.
What if you do this again but this time have a poll on Facebook, X, Instagram etc letting your subscribers decide the cake shape, number of tiers, flavor(s), and decorated? You could even have Kevin be the only one that knows the final results and reveals them to you with each step.
It depends on the D4 too! If the numbers are on the corner, you read the top number. If the numbers are in the middle of the sides, you read the bottom number.
LOL - this is the first time I have ever seen someone read them like in the video. I immediately scrolled to the comments. Knocked it out of the park, the cake was beautiful, different and fun! Would love to see this challenge again!
I love how it came out! I think my only comment would be that the candy didn't have to stay candy shaped, imo. You could crush up the light green/mint colored disks and dusted with it, for example.
LMAOOO at that whole "Laurie is acting flustered for the video" bit. I came for the cooking but I stayed for the absolute chaos in every video. Kevin's comments is my spirit animal. ngl you and ann reardon are the only two creators I look forward to for every single release.

17:20 the D4 landed on a 3 if it was read correctly as well, which would have been whimsical🥲 glad to see someone else explained how the D4 works though😂❤
Those dice are super cute. For next time, using the 4 sided dice the number rolled is the one on the top point. On the point that you picked it up by all three sides will say the same number if you look at it from beside. It took me a while to figure that out.

Ok, I need to see you both tackle vintage baking recipes! Also the women’s day cake decorating books our mothers had to use, everyone had that lolly train 🚂
It looks like you guys had a good time while making the red velvet cake. I had a good time with you! Y'all are funny! Actually, you do have pretty much the correct shade, though truthfully It could have used a little more red. Being old and from the south, I can tell you that a true red velvet cake is a deep dark beautiful shade of red. Not the bright red you see everywhere. It's supposed to be the color of dark red velvet, hence the name. And typically the traditional icing that's used is an ermine icing. Using cream cheese icing is a more current trend. Again, I've had such fun watching you today. You're adorable!
Chaotic is definitely the word for this 😂 with the 'wave' technique you definitely need a SUPER thick layer of frosting! And an offset spatula will give you better control too. This was a fun way for you to try some new stuff!
Kevin, you’d love the channel Tasting History, he makes historical recipes and gives the history behind the dish. I’d love a cross over of my two favorite cooking channels.
Please do more of these! I love this content!!! So much fun to watch the whole process! From you figuring out the recipe, to the chaos of the dice rolls, I loved every bit! 10/10 🎉
The large table to the left is weirdly placed… It’s too close to the wall…all the seats on that side are hard to get to, with the middle one being the worst. Maybe they never have guests, or they move it when they do?
Try Party City for elegant candy. They have lots of singular colors, some with shimmer and pearl finishes too. Great for themes and specific color schemes. Rock candy, chocolate balls, etc. Golds and whites would’ve looked pretty and elegant with dusty rose. 22:15
I actually had the best time with this one! It was great to get a little out of my head wanting to make it perfect and just doing what the dice told me

I am glad I’m not the only one that breaks up clumps of sugar with their hand. I use a full small bottle of liquid red food coloring for my red velvet cakes. Another thing is I make all my ingredients together, the food coloring is the very last thing I put in.
When making a red velvet cake you can never have to much food dye. I always put a full small bottle of liquid food dye in mine as I love the bright red colour. The combinations in cake sound so good. A very unique way of making a cake.
Mascarpone and chocolate is such a delicious combo, and with a red velvet too... Mascarpone should be sweetened though, and whipping it also is a great idea (plus mixing it with whipping cream is heaven)
A much easier way to make a heart cake. Is a square pan and a round pan.Cut the round in half and place the square at an angle place round on the sides into a heart.Frost however you want.Sincerly Debora Atkins
It turned out so great! Would love to see more like these and *bonus points* for one where you and Kevin each make one using separate dice. I know I know Kevin said he wouldn’t make anymore but stillll
This is so great, I've seen other ways to make heart-shaped cakes with a square and circle cake, you cut the circle cake in half and put the square shape oriented in a diamond, and then put the cut halves on the left and right of the top of the diamond!
Kevin why are you so chaotic.....me thinking shes so chaotic its like watching myself in the kitchen when i try to bake I love the chaos 🫶😂 love your videos just brilliant 👏 💗
a lot of cakes in the 1800's were made with tomatoes, especially in eastern europe, you can also use zucchinis it wasn't just royalty but certainly a delicacy! 2:34
My favorite vid of yours, great idea, yes please do more! But I suggest adding one more rule. Once you've used an option from a card, you don't have to use that option again until you have gone through all the other options on the card.
Elegant candy....handmade drizzle thingies they make the bird nest things with in fancy restaurants is what I first thought of. It's a hard crack caramel they click over the handle of a wooden spoon or rolling pin. That would be worked well.

Such a cool challenge! As an artist I know how much limiting your options make you go out of your comfort zone and be more creative and you results are amazing! I really hope you'll make this challenge again!!!
1:54 My family has a recipe that has been passed down for many generations for red velvet cake. It also uses vinegar and buttermilk, just like the one in the history of red velvet cake he looked up. And the frosting in ours uses flour, milk, butter, sugar, and vanilla instead of a cream cheese frosting which can overpower the actual taste of the cake. Pretty much everybody in my family asks for it to be made by my Grandma for their birthdays!
Younger I did a red velvet cake with my cousin… I was holding the mixer and her the bowl. She got distracted and the bowl went flyyyyyinnnng! To this day there’s still red marks on the cupboard 😂😂

The dice roll is such a fun idea! I’m going to have to try that myself :)
I love your banter. Thank you. Love the new kitchen, too.
Super fun video, loved the idea of letting the dice decide and then just challenging yourself to come up with the creative ideas with your artistc magic that we all know you have.❤ great job!
i really want another one of these! It's so much fun and the chaos it brings is just so much fun! I also really like your dynamic with khehvin lol
