    With these being the same alarms used in the WTC on 9/11, at 3:54 imagine yourself going down the staircase in the Twin Towers like this with that exact alarm sounding. The closest any of us will get to hearing or seeing what it was like inside them.

    This was the very same alarm system used in the world trade center towers. The fact that some people heard this (if they even heard it) for the last time in their lifes makes it even more haunting. God rest their souls

    My dad has this at his skyscraper except there’s no voice evac and it’s a drill tone. It scared the shit outta me (almost literally)
    I was looking out the window (office was on the 25 floor and it was neat to see Winnipeg from above). It sounded like a ill ambulance and my dad forgot to tell me that it was a testing and I freaked out thinking of 9/11

    This same alarm was used in buildings 4,5, and 6 at the World Trade Center on September 11.
    Building 1 and 2 had malfunctioned and building 3 had no alarm that we know of, maybe someone more familiar might know what system was used, building 7 had a completely different alarm and is rather unique, you can hear the alarm in the documentary “the 102 minutes that changed America”

    • @alpzepta
      @alpzepta 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Amazing information how did you know they were malfunction?
      But I do only heard the WTC 7 fire alarm in the video the Firecom 8500.

    • @TheCarson116
      @TheCarson116 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      We don't know what systems 4 WTC, 5 WTC, & 6 WTC had, as far as we know however the systems in both 1 WTC & 2 WTC activated correctly as they should, though more than likely building staff kept silencing the system since it'd be unnecessary to have it going off when the emergency's obvious.
      3 WTC we don't know in terms of what system it had or if it even had a system.
      7 WTC had a unique panel called the "Firecom 8500", with equally unique tones.
      None of these systems played a message as far as we know, only tones.

  • @TheCarson116
    @TheCarson116 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    Couple things:
    Only the whoop was used on the Twin Towers' systems, not the message.
    The reason the message sounds so "jagged" sometimes is because it's made from individual sound files played one after the other, rather than one long message file like with most other brands.

    • @ironmatic1
      @ironmatic1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      4, 5, and 6 were part of the networked Pyrotronics system. The whoop can be heard in a couple recordings, such as the Orio Palmer radio recording and a couple videos of the lobby. There was no message because that wouldn't make sense when the building has a constantly staffed security/fire safety team to use the mic.
      You can read everything that's known about the WTC fire alarm systems here by searching "nist world trade center fire alarm systems". There are also separate reports on the sprinkler systems and on the suppression systems.

The announcements ranged from "All personnel remain at your desks" to "We've had a large explosion in the building." On some floors, the announcements didn't go off at all due to the damaged software. In fact, on some floors the fire alarm didn't go off at all either.

    • @rwinnovation7758
      @rwinnovation7758 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      because this device is a speaker-strobe, not a horn-strobe, the alarm cannot produce sound on its own; it requires the panel to produce the sound and transmit it over the fire alarm wires to the speaker.

      Craig Baker maybe they need to hire new voice actors lol

      Gary Beltz They just need to start using better audio equipment inside of their VE panels. Even high-quality (sampled at 44100Hz or 48000Hz) audio files would sound bad when played through/on a Siemens VE panel (I believe their audio equipment only samples at 16000Hz or 22050hz).

      Craig Baker who has the best audio equipment in your opinion. IMO I think Simplex EST isn't bad just the people they chose have bad voices.

      +Hunterdon County EleFilms by Technicalboy3000 I don't know if this will make you die of laughter more, but this is the same type of fire alarm used in the twin towers on 9/11 (except the twin towers' fire alarms didn't have a voice).
