I've done this before when I geared my slash for speed, although my aftermarket receiver had a aux port where I connected the fan and was able to turn it off and on with the remote, was neat, and it did work rather well.
I love doing these kinds of DIY stuff with RC's! This was awesome to watch, I don't have a UDR yet, but when I do, I will be doing this! Just subscribed, I look forward to more on your channel ;)
You're going to enjoy it! Awesome scale machine that should IMHO be driven scale with mild bashing, plenty of jumping and doughnuts galore! It performs best in sand/dirt. Due to the solid rear axle on grass especially wet grass it might tumble and flip a bit... I love it😁 Make sure to open ALL the Diffs and transmission to clean out and fill the cups with appropriate oil and grease all the gears and axles. I do this 3 times a year👍

To purchase the back shroud from the site is kind of pricey so I may just buy 2 tornado fans and leave the back open for the meantime. Thanks for the idea, I 👍🏼, liked plus subscribed.

@@AMPROEngineering I'm more into how cool it looks. Every time I see a non functional scale accessory like that it bugs me that it's fake. This is great! I might do the head/taillights too. The price is worth it for such custom stuff. Thank you!
"Pointless", and that's precisely the point to doing it...making it your own...back in the day(20yrs ago) before 3d printers, we used to hand fab all kinds of things, "pointless" as they may have been, they were really cool, as this is...kudos...
So great! I am a detail freak and I want to eventually make the machine as detailed as possible. Where might a pre-fabricated part be available for those of us without a 3D printer setup?
You can try to use the yeah racing 40mm fans, I use 1 on my slash 4x4 and it's so strong at 5v that it will blast snow off the blades if it touches them.
what i did is added a second water cooler right there, and one smaller one in the front aswel. i wired the water system like: reservoir-front cooler-electronics-rear cooler-reservoir again. i initially wanted to make it to go to the ESC from the front one, then to the rear one and from there to the motor, but that would be less effective.
Love your attention to detail! I'm planning to tap the ESC for power but for using the Traxxas OBA (On-Board Audio) on my UDR. I did this for my Slash ESC that didn't have OBA & it worked GREAT! BUT if I did this for my UDR & I use the UDR Jumper Connector (single 6S lipo), then can I simply solder to the black & red wires of the 1st lipo port? Since the 2nd lipo port has the jumper connector plugged in, right?
Isn't the ESC fan blowing outwards/up from the ESC? Like it's pushing the heat away. Shouldn't those fans be pulling the hot air away from the ESC and blowing it out the back?
The fans are blowing into the ESC since the ESC fan is blowing into the ESC. On the real car, yes, that is how they work but the Traxxas already has a fan so these simply help. If the pulled heat out, they would counteract the factory esc fan.
Alex, this is only for the printed part. Everything else is sourced on ebay. I used to have links but as is with ebay, the sellers all change. Glad you like it!

Why didn’t you hook the voltage regulator up to the output from the receiver you could just plug it in and you didn’t have to do any soldering This wasn’t a useless video this is something I would do
That's a great question. The reason I didn't i was that i was not sure what else I would run off of the receiver . Hey would it be possible for you to extend the cooling ducked down to the motor if I were to cut a hole in plastic above it
yes in theory but there would be a lot more losses in a longer duct and likely not push enough air to really help.
I wonder how much quicker the battery drains having those fans going while driving around.
They dont draw much at all but I suspect a bit.
