I'm from Cape Verde and we have the same issues there. There was a GC building a house for a married couple who wanted to retire there, and the GC quoted one price but once it got close to double what they agreed to, they found out that the GC was building his own house right next to theirs and had been charging them for his materials. People think that because you come from abroad that money just appears out of nowhere lol. We can only hope that karma wins in the end.

This issue has been the norm in Ghana since forever. The locals have been experiencing this nightmare way before investors started to look into real estate in Ghana. Just be prepared and do you due deligence.

our culture is trash. you'll hardly see any politicians tackling these issues head-on. every investment in GH becomes a 90% risk

@@ImNomadicallySpeaking I get the question.. ‘our culture is trash’ is generalised and definitely not positive but as a fellow Ghanaian, I get the sentiment the commenter was trying to pass. My mum was hounded by ‘land guards’ for years after she purchased land through the proper source. These people wielded guns and knives by the way. We got lucky to be honest because just last week, a whole soldier of the Ghanaian armed forces lost his life at the hands of these ‘land guards‘ in a land dispute case.
