- Today we see some amazing cave glow worms as we visit Bay of Islands New Zealand. These are a very special and unique phenomenon and were very beautiful. We also took a walk in an ancient old growth forest and some very special toilets! Yes, that’s right, toilets, the Hundertwasser Toilets.

It makes my day when I see that you guys have put an update on your channel. Love seeing what you do and the food you eat at your stops.
Thank-you for all the posts. I can’t put my finger on why it is but you two are just so watchable - keep it up!
😊
That’s exactly how I feel it’s the last thing I check before going to bed
I feel the same!
Thank you so much for those kind words. We really appreciate them and thank you for following along with us.
When we took a cruise to Jamaica one year, we went on a tour of sugar cane fields and had a Jerk dinner picnic, and actually got to go to the papaya fields and plant papayas. Each person got one or two to plant and we learned about how only women are allowed to pick because they are delicate enough pickers that they don't bruise the fruit...men not allowed, lol. Then a rum tasting and could buy if we wanted...It was so fun!
Lots of beautiful footage and the pictures of glow worm was very thoughtful to share what you actually saw inside!!!! 🛳️🛳️
Thank you so much!
That was amazing seeing the glowworms
Why does the workers dancing for you remind me of the Polar Express????Would love to see all the ornaments you've collected on the trip so far!
I’ll probably do something like that at the end of the trip. Thank you though for asking.😀
Wow guys that an amazing day :)! Glow worms cave looked like a fantasy and the forest with the Kauri trees !! 🥰🚢
It was like going from the Shire of the day before to Mirkwood from The Lord of the Rings movie. 😃
Nancy, I to have the same travel souvenir collection, and that I get an ornament from wherever I travel on my journeys. Towards the end of the cruise and you have most of your collection assembled. Could you do an entire video on your ornament collection I would find it very interesting!
I plan to do that at the very end, or it may even be after we return home. Thank you so much for asking.
Don't give up on the north island. We've been there twice. Cruise ports are limiting, but there's so much to see and do. Thanks for the great videos.
Oh, we’ve already said we are definitely coming back to spend more time there.👍🏻
Yes! I finished my cruise where I disembarked in Sydney. But 2 days later, I flew back to Auckland (spending an extra week between Auckland and Rotarura). Next time: the South Island.
Congratulations Nancy and Mike, for reaching 25,000 subscribers! I have really enjoyed your videos!
Thank you for following along and thank you for your kind words. 25,000 subscribers has blown us away that people are interested in us.
For you, the dream is Australia. For me, it was New Zealand. And it was breathtaking!! The land is BEAUTIFUL. I did Hobbiton, the glow worms (though the centralized tour with the boats), the thermal springs, and the Weta Workshop (Peter Jackson's FX studios museum).
I agree, should I ever go again, I've been told the South Island is AMAZING!!!
Enjoying your trip reports... and I'm with Nancy. Asia, here we come!!
Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your memories. We appreciate you. New Zealand and Australia both are a definite comeback place for us.
I started following you late as you are now about 4 months into the world cruise. I am loving every bit of your dream vacation and I’m glad I found it. I want to do the world cruise with my husband and this makes me certain that we can do it. Great job you two!!!!
Welcome aboard! Tha ks for following along!

Wow! 🤩 Great video, thank you.
Thanks so much for watching!
Wow - so cool! I didn't even know there was a such thing as glow worms.
Neither did we! That's what we say is one of the best things about travel are the little surprises you find along the way
Just got back from our cruise. Love watching your videos.
Thanks!
Just found your channel....love it...glad your enjoying the trip.....looking forward to your Australia posts (I'm in Sydney)...All the best for the rest of your travels.
Awesome! Thank you!
Did you sing the glow little glowworm song when you were in the cave? Nature is truly amazing. Stay safe.
No, we did not sing the glowworm song, but we should have!
finally your coming to my neck of the wood...Down Under...wow...was gettn a tad worried it wasn't gonna happen..i will look forward to that vid xx
So far things have been running smoothly on the cruise and as I write this, we are now getting off the ship in Sri Lanka today. Thanks so much for following along.
I am absolutely loving your videos!
Glad you like them!
We LOVED the New Zealand South Island! It's the "adventure" island .... bungee jumps, jet boat rides, and we took a small plane from Queensland over the mountains and glaciers to Milford Sound. Just stunning!!! Definitely worth a trip!
Oh absolutely! We most certainly will be coming back for a longer visit.
Nice video, Nancy you are glowing. hugs
Oh thank you!
Hi Mike and Nancy! I discovered your channel a few days ago and since then I don't know how many of your videos I've watched, they're great. My husband and I are both 60 and my first cruise was on The Sovereign, I loved that ship! I hope you're both doing well! I was wondering are there any religious services on board, specifically Catholic Mass? I watched (in awe) your unpacking video (how long did that take?!), vaccinations, etc and was wondering if at just over the halfway point, is there anything you would've done differently in packing or prepping for this trip? I think my husband is sick of me asking 'could we do this some day' every time he sees me watching one of your videos; thanks for taking us along!! God Bless you and stay healthy and safe! Susan
Thanks for watching, to your first question they had a priest on it Easter and Christmas, but not other times. The question about did we want to bring anything additional we think we did pretty well the only thing that keeps coming to mind as we wish we would have brought our travel neck pillows that are called Turtles. We miss those on the long bus rides we have to take sometimes to get to some of the sites. Hope you and your husband can make it work someday and thanks again for watching
Thank you so much for sharing I am so loving coming along on your adventure!!
We are so happy to have you coming along on our journey with us!❤️
Thanks for another beautiful stop on your awesome adventures ❤
Thanks so so much! We appreciate you.
So many cool places!
Thanks so much!
Besides all your wonderful port stops and excursions, RC seems to have done a fantastic job bringing on a variety of entertainers and shows.
Overall, the entertainers have been really great and fun to watch. They’ve also brought along some fantastic enrichment lecturers.
Oh my, never imagined glow worm cave! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
I'd never heard of glow worms before! Thanks again for sharing another great adventure!
Thanks so much!
Glad you looking forward to Australia hopefully it will be on your list of places to return , thanks for taking us on your journey with you
It absolutely is a place we plan to return to for a longer period of time. 😀
I just found your channel a few days ago. I watched every video, and I’m finally caught up. I so enjoy seeing all the amazing places you have gone to. Thanks you taking us along.
Thank you so much for your kind words and thank you for following along in our journey.
It is a gorgeous place, glad you enjoyed it. We use to visit every other year for a month I have missed it since Covid
We absolutely loved our visit there!
We loved our Bay of Islands excursion….went to all the same places. I was surprised how kiwi grew. My daughter’s son’s crib is made out of New Zealand pine. The little town close to the cruise port was very nice. We picked up great little books for our grandson.
Bail Islands was great! And we appreciate you sharing your memories with us. It means a lot to hear them.
Very intersting, as every time. I am looking forward to seeing you on Sydney Habour Bridge.
Coming very soon! Thanks for following along.😀
Another awesome video and account of your trip. Thank you!
PS. Please try to have a good time....... 🙃
Thanks so much. And we will try to have a good time.😉
Hello Mike and Nancy... WOW I've never heard of glow worms 😮😮😮 I would definitely go to see something so interesting if I would get a chance. I just love your videos ❤❤❤❤ can't wait to see the GLOW on Mike's face when he visits Australia 😊😊😊😊
Spoiler alert, we absolutely loved Australia. Thank you so much for your kind words and thank you for following along in our journey.
Nice trip . lep pozdrav iz Slovenije
Thank you!
We were scheduled to see glow worms, but cruise was canceled in 2021. Thanks for sharing
I’m sorry you missed them, but glad you got to see a little bit through our eyes.
I went to bay of islands earlier this year but did completely different things, so it's nice to see what other people get up to! Can't believe RC didn't have The Sounds on your itinerary- it's breathtaking. Highly recommend a NZ cruise with the Sounds on it.
Thanks so much for the suggestion. We certainly intend it to come back and spend more time here.
I am enjoying following you on your world cruise. I hope to do one or at least a few legs of a world cruise some day. I wouldn't expect you to be able to pronounce any of the names of sites as you are visiting so many. I will mention one to you in case you are interested. I lived in Argentina for a year and visited fabulous Iguazu Falls. It is pronounced: EE-gwa-sue, with the accent on the last syllable "sue". :)
Thanks so much for letting us know that. We appreciate when people help us out with the pronunciation.❤️
Wonderful! Just curious what was the price range for the reclaimed wood? Loved the glow worms.
My little tree ornament was about seven US dollars.
We pronounce Kauri as like Cow ree in Australia
Not that it matters , just a point to mention.
Enjoying your journey
We appreciate hearing the tip. Thanks so much for following along with us.
It is such a shame that your cruise did not come to Perth Western Australia. We have beautiful weather, plus we have the quokka’s on Rottnest Island (take a selfie). Australia is a beautiful country and very different in each state.
We understand and we certainly plan to come back for a much longer visit. 😀
Do we need to get New Zealand and Australia dollars? We will be visiting both area, 6 days in Sydney and several ports in New Zealand. Love your videos! Thank you.
We would recommend it. You can withdraw some at an ATM or at a currency exchange. Have fun! Remember many places will take credit cards.
@@livingphase2 thank you, looking forward to seeing new places.
🌟🥂🌟
Question about UMC sponsored shore excursions for world wonders. Is there a difference in tier experiences (ie are there different spots/hotels available given the size of people attending)?
No, there is not a difference in the experiences. It does not matter what tier level you are, the experiences are all the same.
Makana chocolate is my favourite.
Yum!!!
Too bad RCI didn’t add more S Island ports and cruising
Like missing Rotorua visit Dunedin Milford Sound and in Oz Melbourne and Tasmania
I guess they want u to return on another cruise
We’ve said all along this is like the sampler platter, but Australia and New Zealand are certainly places we intend to return to for a longer period of time.
I was just thinking how do you handle your mail? I thought the post office would only hold mail for 30 days
We have a housesitter staying at our house for nine months and so she gets the mail every day. Our daughter lives five minutes away and she passes along anything of importance to her. Really though we set everything up online and there is only one specific piece of mail we are concerned about.
@@livingphase2 there is just so much to think about getting ready for a long trip like that - my longest trip was 3 weeks Nairobi, Kenya, Tanzania and a friend came to stay with my 16 old cat. (Now 19yrs old) I kiddingly say I’m a very good caretaker I took care of my mom til she passed away at 103 - now my cat is a very healthy 19yr old who is holding me back from traveling - I’m 76 thinking I’m bulletproof proof because my parents lived so old but I have to say I’m slowing down a wee bit - I could never do all those stairs I see you 2 do. But I’m determined to go to Alaska on a cruise this summer 😎
What day was New Zealand
This was March 5 which was day 86 of our cruise.
Just to let you know that the kauri trees are pronounced cowree not corey.
Thank you so much for letting us know.😀
@@livingphase2 I hope you didn't think I was being bossy but I'd want to know if it was me.
We have kauri trees in Australia too, but I don't think we have any here in Tasmania where I live (heart shaped island below mainland Australia).
We do have a beautiful tree here though, the huon pine, that was logged almost to extinction. There is a similar arrangement here, no logging can happen, but if a tree falls there are certain craftsmen that have a license to use it. You even see shavings being sold in bags - makes a great natural insect repellent in the wardrobe and smells way better than mothballs. The wood is a beautiful golden colour.
