“I like it…..sometimes”
Another great quote for the watchbox.
Most analytical watch content on youtube hands down. Your editing skills are getting better! Keep it up
Thank you kindly 😊😊
Just brewed my coffee and watching this channel. What better way to start a Saturday?
Masturbation?
@@omar10213245LOL “running off a batch!” 😅
golly... that escalated quickly 😂😂
@@Mike.thiswatchthatwatch lol!
Nothing specific related to this video, but just wanted to say I love your content and the videos you produce. I find them very informative, and love your soothing tones !! Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks 😊😊
Love that you covered San Martin.
I’ve owned a couple of them in the past and the quality is unreal for the price, and constantly getting better. They’ve started doing a lot of original designs as well.
Well said sir I doff my non existent cap to you, San Martins watches are fantastic, not fantastic for the price, just fantastic overall 👍
I went through a Chinese watch phase. Ended up moving all of them on except for two San Martin pieces I can’t see myself ever getting rid of - they are just too darn good!
“I like it…sometimes” sums up my thoughts on the constellation too.
So pleased that this channel popped up on my feed. Superb content. Thank you! Unrelated, I’d appreciate your assessment of Erebus quality.
Thanks Mike again for this upload! Enjoyed it! The JLC Polaris Chrono in grey looks stunning on pictures but in realty it looks through that lacquered, fume ultra-polished dial almost unreal. I have the Polaris Date Green which I love but the grey Chrono dial almost is like a digital version of itself, if that makes sense. Perhaps you could consider covering the white Moonwatch...
Looking forward to your Bremont video Mike - this is a great video as always.
Never even crossed my mind that the Constellation was Omega’s effort at an integrated SS sport model. They should revamp it entirely.
The Constellation is the Omega of choice for gentlemen in their 70s, with some disposable income and fond memories of the 1980’s.
It’s too late imo. The integrated watch hype has already peaked. Maybe they can cannibalize some of the Ingenieur sales from IWC if they price it lower but that still has the Genta heritage to compete with.
Yup. Nobody noticed that Omega had an integrated sports watch... 😊😊
What you don't get is that the Constellation has been the single most popular range for Omega in Asia since its inception in 1952. The brand name held great prestige and was truly THE aspirational one, long before Rolex even became a thing. I should know; both my great grandfather and my grandfather, extremely successful men, owned and proudly wore their Constellations, even though they also owned other watches from the Trinity. Those Constellations continue to work perfectly, and are treasured and shared by the four men of the family of my generation.
The Constellation was also extremely popular among the ladies. It was almost de riguer to gift a Constellation to a bride-to-be. My mother wore hers for many years till it was stolen.....
In the Asian market, the Constellation has been Omega, pretty much.
And this was decades before either the Speedmaster or the Seamaster became popular.
The integrated bracelet model, with the signature "claws", originally known as the Manhattan, was introduced in 1982 and has been one of the mainstays of Omega in Asia since it was first introduced.
It might not be obvious from a Euro- or US- centric perspective, but think about this: as far as you know, practically nobody in those markets buys a Constellation. Yet Omega has not only chosen to go on making and selling them, but also periodically update and redesign them.
Would that make sense unless it has been selling somewhere?
@kfmathew Fair point. I was aware that the constellation was popular in Asia - but not aware of it’s historical popularity. Thanks for enlightening me. 😀
Love your videos! My new favourite watch youtuber by far!
thank you sooo much 😊😊😊
Enjoyed your comment on the GO. I have the pano reserve in blue. I prefer the aesthetic of the face, I think the reserve indicator looks better in the negative space than the lunar, plus a more useful complication. Also I would argue it’s more a balance between dress and casual especially in blue. Fantastic watch, I can get lost in the movement still.
I love Saturday mornings! That's when I see your uploads. I would love to know what industry you work in.
Great content, as always. Keep it coming!
Will try 😊😊
I got a watch from Aliexpress, with a on the fly adjust bracelet, box sapphire with great distortions, decorated high beat ETA Seagull movement that runs great and the watch looks pretty much just like the blue Seaq, just with a fully lumed blue beezle and smaller size than the original. Besides this watch, I got mainly German, Swiss and Japanese watches. Ussualy ones with loads of heritage. I do really adore this chinese watch though, love it for what it is, also for under 2% of MSRP for what it is styled after, with a few differences like a onion crown, yeah, it's a winner.
Really enjoy your subject diversity …another excellent episode 👍
Thank you sir 😊
i love your voice and the wake you speak it relaxs me, i watch your video evertime i am stressed
exactly the same with me
Def. agree with the Omega over the Rolex, love the style of the Aqua Terra! BUT with my odd size wrist between 7- 6.75 inches i need a bracelet that has micro adjustments in the clasp, and the Aqua Terra doesn't have that...
I own the 39mm Baltany vintage automatic with the chocolate/coffee sunburst dial and SW200 movement. Basically an homage to the 1964 rolex explorer with the deep red /burgandy dial. So you could say it has the quality of San Martin but actually has the looks.
Mike, thanks for your post - insightful as always. I agree with your assessment regarding the Omega Constellation, except for the Globemaster line, which I think is largely overlooked and underrated.
I own the annual calendar in green, which is absolutely amazing and I always get questions on it, as hardly anyone knows it. best from Berlin, AP
Love all your videos - very much looking forward to seeing a new one with your thoughts about being 'on the ground' at Watches and Wonders, and the watches you saw there.
The ladies Constellation line is immensely popular in the middle east, Omega is a major competitor with Cartier for Queen of lady watches in the middle east…. if I am at the mall I will see dozens of Constellations each outing. In fact my wife chose the Constellation over Cartier and owns two tone versions both with diamonds. My wife doesn’t like the datejust, however in solid 18k Gold she would…lol
That Glashutte moonphase 👌
Great breakdown. Especially loved the start and your approach to watch collecting. I’m looking at trying a San Martin. So much bang for buck.
Glad you found the video worth your time 😃
Just got my Panomatic Lunar last week. Of course the Platinum Lange is better in all aspects except the execution of the large date, but the value proposition doesn't even come close in my opinion. So while I am unwilling to stretch for the Lange now, I will happily sit on the GO while I save to buy the Lange comfortably. Even so, I have a dreaded uneasiness about the prospect of spending that much on a watch - this hobby may be radicalizing me.
Tremendous analysis.! You should do an entire video about the Lange Zeitwerk. Thanks
My favorite grail watch... ❤️
Laco doesn't get a lot of attention, so I'd like to hear your view on them, especially their DIN 8330. The brand's flieger heritage is present in the hands and crown, the dial is clinical but that's played down by the quarter numerals, and the treatment of the steel adds to the tool aesthetic. And the date is at 4, so it doesn't break the numerals.
Surprised you didn't come down hard on San Martin. I like them too. Wear the design you love while you wait for or build yourself up to the point where you can buy the real thing. A ok for me.
Yeah... I'm not that harsh on replica and homage brands. It doesn't bother me in the slightest - as long as it's not being passed off as the "real deal".
I understand the argument that people should support brands that make original designs and I do think that should be the majority, but if you can go to H&M and buy what is ostensibly a replica of a haute couture design, then I don't see why you can't spend money on an homage if you want to.
Get the GO; you won't regret it. Maybe I'm getting up in years but no stainless steel watch is a dress watch. I know that's old school but many still subscribe to that notion. Enjoy, and as you say buy what you like.
I wanted to love my Aquaterras but I could not because of the thickness and the maddening polished center links that scratch when you look at them. My vintage Datejusts are pleasing in every way. My vintage Tudor prince date two tone is even more pleasing given the price.
Try a railmaster. All brushed, no date - awesome toolish watch seriously underrated.
@@MrRarbelaez I had one and loved it. However, once I got my Explorer there was too much overlap and it went to partially fund my Root Beer. I still miss the rail master’s all brushed finish.
Great video like always ♥️💪 but could you please make a video about your current collecting, would love to see what watches you own and why 😍😎
There’s a recent video on his channel where he discusses his watches. I’m not sure if he mentioned his entire collection but it is still a great video.
It's amazing to see you improve and make big steps.
Unbelievable that your subscriber count is still unter 100k.
Thanks - Trying to get better all the time. It's hard work but fun though 😊😊
Great video Mike.
Thank you.
Sam Martin GMT vs Christopher Ward C63. Is it worth 3x the price?
Good question. I have a video coming about San Martin watches in general (no specific model).
The C63 has a better movement. The QC is better. The warranty is better. The design is original whereas most San Martins are replicas/homages. The originality definitely has a value that is hard to quantify. If you boil it down to pure specs and build quality, then 3x is probably steep, but it is that originality and the intangibles that make a difference 😊😊
I have a San Martin GMT SN0109 I think it is, and also the CW C63 Sealander GMT. Although I’ve enjoyed the San Martin I’m going to move it on and just keep the CW. I prefer the CW light catcher case, and the gloss dial, whereas the San Martin dial is a bit too dull matt black. Plus I find the Pepsi bezel a bit too playful for my boring persona. There is also that feeling that the San Martin is too much of a clone. The CW has originality with its own case, indices, date position and handset when compared to Rolex so it’s a proper homage and I feel more comfortable with that compared to the San Martin which is a shrunken Tudor Black Bay GMT. Both are fine watches though.
Nice to hear you talking about San Martin!
I'd be keen to hear your thoughts on AliExpress watches in general. Which brands are good, which are not, where the compromises come in, how you would do a budget watch, and what impact they've had (or should have!) on the watch hobby/market/industry
There's Just One More Watch for that, that Aussie all about Ali watches
I have a video coming on San Martin - not a review, but more about the manufacturer in general... 😊
@@Mike.thiswatchthatwatch Awesome! They fascinate me. Looking forward!
Excellent content my friend. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the visit 😊
Thank u for the quick take on these watches, please consider talking about the omega aqua terra vs mido ocean star captain, thx
I love the Constellation. Picking up a silver dial version from my go-to pawn shop this week. I think its a shame they aren't more popular, this has been in the display case for a year. I'll give it a good home though.
Ah, perhaps you could also take a look at echo/neutra .. they make interesting divers and even a field watch with a moonphase..
Like you i am not a huge fan of fumé dial but I am on the list for the new Hm&C 40 mm pioneer in cosmic green! Just mind blowing and different compare to all other fumé from other brand. They are just the best and unique.
1:05. Get it on nylon. It’s super versatile and casual.
As for Lange if you go in and handle a couple you’ll find them uber dressy in their finishing. Lange 1 is formal.
Get a PML on nylon!!
Really enjoyed this style of video! Keep it up sir
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Can’t wait for your Bremont video LOL
I'm not sure Bremont are looking forward to it 😉
@@Mike.thiswatchthatwatch 🤣🤣🤣
Putting them on roast? 😮😂
Great video! What are your thoughts on the Cartier Tank Americaine?
Good video - others to potentially cover in another video: anordain, Kurono tokyo, Kuoe, moser, credor, Baltic
Excellent and succinctly informative review of a nicely broad range.
Thank you kindly! 😃
My new favorite watch Channel!
Thrilled to hear it 😊😊
Great to hear you shout out the Omega AT and Longines Spirit, both of which I own and absolutely love. I think the AT beats out both the Rolex OP and Datejust in several categories, although I would love to own a Datejust.
I’m looking forward to your video on Bremont because I might be one of the few people who actually likes their Watches & Wonders release.
I would love to see you compare the H Moser Streamliner and the Laurent Ferrier Sport Auto. Or just your thoughts on the LF, I'm contemplating it to celebrate the arrival of my first grandchild.
The Globemaster is the most appealing in the Omega Constellation range. Great content as usual. Thank you.
Glad you enjoy it! 😃
I look forward to hearing your comments about Bremont. I like the new Terra Nova design but I’m uncertain about their pricing. Thanks again for an interesting talk.
Should be out in 1-2 weeks time. Stay tuned 😊😊
Bremont is a brand that had always baffled me. The designs are just too big and the prices astronomical. Value proposition just isn’t there. Maybe that’s what the new CEO will strive to fix.
Totally agreed with your take on Studio Underdog. The fancy dials look attractive on a IG post, but day in and out on the wrist? Not at this price point
Hey! I would love to hear your opinion about the Baume et Mercier Riviera Baumatic 39mm. Even a review/comparison to the Ingenieur would be nice.
Keep up the good work, greetings from Germany!
I like this format.
Glad to hear it 😃
GO's Panomatic Luna is my grail watch. 🤘
My same thoughts on studio underdog. I need to know i'll love the watch in 5, 10 years time.
I'm almost 60 I just can't see myself wearing watermelon or pizza watch. But, then again, I'm probably not Studio Underdog's core demographic.
The Omega Aqua Terra may be comparable to the CW Twleve in the eyes of some, but the CW beats it hands down when it comes to price!
true 😊
Interesting take on the Constellation and the Aqua Terra, I'm on the fence with Bremont. Regards, Chris
Excellent vid dear Sir,
The GO panomatic lunar is also for me one watch that i keep looking at and for me it looks beter than the L1.
The Omega globemaster (in gold) is a watch that i would like to like but something always feel off, what is your opinion about it?
Thanks as always always and greetings from Belgium.
As someone with experience with the Constellation Manhattan, I can tell you the watch strap that most stock comes with is hot and sweaty. Rubber with the leather insert gets hot. Sometimes the accuracy works, other times not, but eventually it evens out.
Good to know - thanks for sharing 😀😀
I have a panomaticlunar and it is phenomenal. I think it's sporty enough to wear in casual situations so it fits more a sports watch than dress piece in my collection.
Lucky individual, you are 😀
I really like the previous generation Constellation in Sedna (Rose gold) and SS, with the blue dial. I should have bought one when they were being discontinued.
My recent purchase is a serica blue diver, what to you think about it? Personally I love it, so much so that I struggled to swap it out to other divers (Seiko, sinn, citizen, Rolex...) for rotation with the exception of the muhle glashutte sar. Yes I do like something a little less mass market.
I find this serica well built, unique design unlike most others within the genre with lots of vintage vibe, the bracelets is ingenious for comfort, great smooth bezel action, soothing touch with the pastel colours bezel....there isn't a thing that I dislike.
The constellation does have an option for a strap and it looks amazing.
It’s my favorite non popular watch
Omega Globemaster. Absolute perfection 👌
It’s a bit small when you put it on (unless you have small wrists, then it’s cool).
Tried one on once and had the same thought. It will likely be my first Omega. I've tried on an Aqua Terras and a Railmaster and for some reason nothing hit like the Globemaster.
Globemaster Annual calendar for me... 😊😊
It is my understanding the the Constellation is very popular in Asia.
Definitely different tastes and preferences in different regions.
I also hear that Russia used to be a big market for a lot of the oversized and more ostentatious watches by American/European standards, and companies like Ulysse Nardin got hit hard as luxury business pulled out of Russia due to the war in Ukraine.
True on Asia and the constellation.
Was not aware of the Russian angle for the watches you mentioned. It’s been a while since I last was in Russia but come to think of it - whenever I’ve been abroad and stumbled into russians (ie in dubai),, it has struck me that at least the wealthy russians seemed to have a different taste in watches - UN definitely being more common than I would have expected.
Thanks for sharing 😀
Prices would be great buddy = I enjoy your vids, thanks. 😊
Noted 😊
Absolutely lover your channel - Would you please kindly review the Ressence Type 1 Multicolor
Thank you - I would love to, but those seven minutes I spent with it at watches and wonders doesn't quite feel like enough for me to make an authoritative review. It's a very cool watch though... 😊😊😊
Love this hot takes type. Btw the Longines hydroconquest, is there any word on a non gmt and a smaller size? 50 lugs are too big.
Interesting, you mentioned the fear of getting tired of the playfulness of the Studi0 underd0g, but I bought one last night because I was tired of the seriousness of my collection. Let's see how it plays out!
true. I like to say that skeletons are for those people that already have their "base warddrobe" in place 😊😊
The skeleton is the statement pink shirt with flamingos on it 😀
You’re the watch uncle we all need!
lol 😂😂 Thanks 😊
Now that ArchieLuxury has descended into madness
Love to hear your thoughts on the Citizen Tsuyosa automatics, and their quality for the price. The dials are eye catching, and much lower in price then a Rolex Oyster Perpetual or Omega Aqua Terra.
Having bought the Pelagos 39 and a BB58, I wanted to try out the BB54. I bought the San Martin BB54 homage and found that it was more attractive than the Tudor. It has one problem, that being that the bezel action is too light.
Very interesting takes, thank you. I think you were very fair with San Martin. I see other micros basically ordering batches of watches made to order, likely manufactured by the folks behind San Martin and Steeldive. It's a pure sourcing exercise. A pure money grab, imho. For a little less one can get a San Martin direct and cut out the middle man, or for a little more a true, fledgling micro with some innovation and sophisticated design. All the best.
Some people have a very hard time with Homage brands. I just don't.
I do feel those that do original designs deserve "more" of our money, but as long as it doesn't say Rolex on the dial - then I'm fine with people spending money on an homage 😊
Great. We need to hear you opinion Mike on the OMEGA NTTD …..
I actually did a video on it, as one of my very first uploads.
Since then I ended up buying it (on the nato, because I dislike the mesh bracelet).... 😊😊😊
@@Mike.thiswatchthatwatch so this means approved by Mike ❤️❤️❤️. Hope we dont see in future regret video because i have it and im loving it 😂
I recently bought a not so popular Ulysse Nardin Blast Dual Time, blue dial, blue rubber band. Seems a bit overpriced for an ETA based movement but I just love how it looks: blue dial, the finishing, small seconds, unique gmt implementation with 2 buttons, matching color calendar window adjustable both ways, 24h window.
What's your opinion on it and on UN overall?
I can't believe that's actually cheaper than the Constellation he featured. An incredible watch. Congratulations.
I love the Jaeger Chrono but I still wait for a white or Panda dial! I think it will come sooner then later👍🏻
Killer format 😁👍
thanks for the feedback 😊
GO PanoManic Lunar is a watch I like a lot and hope to add to my collection. I’m yet to experience one in the metal. But regardless it’s a stunner and a true high-end horology.
Hi Mike. I am from India. I like ur videos. U r fair n stright in reviewing watches. I would really like to know ur opinion on one specific watch. I am looking to buy. OMEGA NO TIME TO DIE watch. it is nice watch i feel. But will be glad to hear ur view on its technicalities. N fair view on that watch.
Great video. Next time: a review of Roamer (any watch or the brand) - non of the bigger youtube watch channels does Roamer. no idea why not.
What's your opinion about the Carl F Bucherer Manero Flyback? I bought one on bracelet at 60% off retail, loved it, and then sold it as I kept thinking I could get an Aqua Terra for the money
I'm really curious what you think of the Cartier Pasha. It's the forgotten and ignored Genta design because it's so marmite. I really like the Pasha for it's charming ugliness and there really is nothing else like it out there.
Really enjoyed that. Eco-Drive?
Be curious about your ruminations on the continuum from replica to homage to derivative. Prompted by your discussion of San Martin as a replica maker, and also the openness of CW about how The Twelve is derivative from AP's Royal Oak.. It seems to me that a lot of what passes for original (among the Europeans) is actually derivative and self-referential) and some of what are called replicas (from the Chinese) are actually homages. Your thoughts?
Interesting topic. That might be a whole video idea you gave me there.... 😊
@@Mike.thiswatchthatwatch I'd look forward to it. My personal curiosity was piqued in the relatively benign sector of inexpensive motorsports themed watches (not the Daytona/MilleMiglia/Monaco tier, the tier defined by my $100 quartz watch from carwatchguys that has a dial just like the wheels of my Alfa Giulia, right down to the yellow brake calipers).
Great video! Can you have a look at the Breitling Colt A73380 as an entry to Breitling chronographs
PacomaticReserve wears way better than panolunar, the case is slimmer maybe because it’s mechanic vs automatic
Would love to hear your thoughts on Lum-Tec (B55 & Super Combat B2)
Whats your opinion on the new Tag F1 Kith collabs? can you make a video for that. Also can you feature some more grand seiko models, like the spring drives or quartz ones also thanks
Kith? 1.500 dollars. I hate the pricing. I dislike them intensely. At moonswatch pricing I would likely like them. Nostalgia is fine. 1.500 is bananas 😊😊
Decades ago Swatch saved Omega from going out of business, and with the moonwatch, Omega returned the favor. That ought to be the story of the moonswatch. Reciprocity.
I'm new to this and have been looking at buying my first quality watch. Been looking at the Polaris for a while, with the Grey face but don't understand what Fume is.
I have the Polaris date you approve of, great watch.
Good choice! 😊
Would love to hear your thoughts on Ball watches
Really want to hear your thoughts on the marinemaster
I have an original design San Martin GMT and it’s fantastic
Thank you for mention of Seiko SPB121. It’s on my wish list.
My question is about the Perpetual brand from China with its very fancy $500 chronographs that look like the, for me, completely unattainable Swiss “equivalent “…. What is your take on them?
Which Hublot do you like?
What is your opinion of Fortis watch brand and watch selection
Re: San Martin, they have veered into original design. E.g., check out their SN0116G GMT in blue or upcoming SN0144G 3-hander with a pretty dial. I don't like homages, but their original designs offer a lot of fun for very little money (and don't look as cheap as e.g. Orient or entry level Seiko)
See my video about San Martin and other homage brands 👍😀
What is your opinion on the Vacheron 56?
Dedicated video on that model line would be good, please! Design, pricing etc.
