Funny thing is that it would actually made better sense, since launching a 'nuke' is a two men operation. If I wasn't wrong, you need to turn two keys at the same time. The distance between the two keys are made further than an arm's reach, making it impossible for one person to do all the work or to launch it by accident.

An EMP like this is still a nuke. Only difference is that it exploded in high altitude. Instead of using the actual explosion of the nuke, it uses the shock waves and radiation that comes from it to disable electronics and communications. Pretty smart actually.

During the early 1960s, scientist found out that high altitude nuclear detonations release a large amount of high energy particles that can disable electronic devices. I didn't understand it when I was younger so I am glad I understood it now. Price launched the nuke in space to make it an EMP blast. Since it would disturb all electronics in the entirety of the U.S., it gave our forces the necessary advantage. Why? Cause it is our home. We know our own turf better than the enemy. The enemy is not gonna know what 5th and Main is. But we sure do.
The Russians also flew enough vehicles in before we could get ours in, we could only get infantry in and the Russians ( from what I could see ) depended on helicopters and since the depended on the heli's so much that when the EMP went off our large amounts of infantry gained the upper hand.
Literally the most intense mission plot-wise for me. The blaring sirens and the suspenseful music alongside Ghost's screaming about the silo doors already put me on edge, but the moment that nuke roared out of its silo and began its one way trip to america...well, shit just turned from 100 to 1000 real fucking quick.

Nukes are EMPs, when nukes are detonated at a certain altitude they become emps

This most likely was a nuclear weapon. During the early 1960s, scientist found out that high altitude nuclear detonations release a large amount of high energy particles that can disable electronic devices. Take a look at the side effects of the Starfish Prime test in 1962.

It's just empty iirc. just ice underneath and no interior, they never modeled whatever wouldn't be seen up close

There’s actually a scrapped version of this level where u go into the sub, if u look up the alpha version of this level u can see, has all interior designs and enemies and stuff

Price launched the nuke in space to make it an EMP blast. Since it would disturb all electronics in the entirety of the U.S., it gave our forces the necessary advantage. Why? Cause it is our home. We know our own turf better than the enemy. The enemy is not gonna know what 5th and Main is. But we sure do.
The Russians also flew enough vehicles in before we could get ours in, we could only get infantry in and the Russians ( from what I could see ) depended on helicopters and since the depended on the heli's so much that when the EMP went off our large amounts of infantry gained the upper hand.

The blaring sirens and the suspenseful music alongside Ghost's screaming about the silo doors already put me on edge, but the moment that nuke roared out of its silo and began its one way trip to america...well, shit just turned from 100 to 1000 real fucking quick.

3.the team would be killed by airstrikes,snipers and armoured veichles

He launched the missile to EMP the Russians because the Russians had more vehicles and air superiority so by disabling all the vehicles the Russians had to play the ground game with the americans which is what the Americans are best at infantry fighting and he gave them a fighting chance which they won.

SLBMs don't need launch codes like silo-based ICBMs. Given that this is an Ultranationalist base, it is more likely Makarov and Zhakaev managed to get the codes for any SLBM already.
