Yep, TM to some degree is a game with cult followers. Once they took out the main element that made up all previous TM games (single player story/ending with each character driving their unique vehicle), then why not just coming up with brand new title instead?
No doubt, I think some of us would really love to see it and would be disappointed if it wasn't there. I've been a fan of the series since I was 10 years old and back then what really pulled me in was the stories and the universe and how some things connected, often without being explicitly mentioned or spelled out. I'm thinking of Black for example, that had so many neat little intersections. Ex. Dollface's boss Mr. Kreel is the one who created Sweet Tooth's mask, Sweet Tooth's head is ablaze because of a curse Preacher set upon him, the driver of Yellow Jacket is Sweet Tooth's little brother, the baby Preacher killed in the church was Billy Ray Stillwell's (Junkyard Dog) kid, one of the terrorists Agent Stone shoots in his middle cutscene looks identical to John Doe (Roadkill), there's more too... A lot of people love that sort of thing and being able to dig into the universe, characters, and stories beyond just a surface level. And the depth was always there with the Jaffe games.
Yea, its probably SONY that forced him to focus on multiplayer element. Saying single player story mode is dead is simply stupid (with all respect to Jaffe). Its basically like sayin fighting games such as Street fighters , Mortal kombat & Tekken should be turned into multiplayer games just because multiplayer are popular among younger audience. Is game like Diablo should also turned into multiplayer without single player story? so his statement on that "single player " aspect of the game is just off. He said himself in the first part of this retrospective video that he wanted TM to be like Street fighters but its vehicle vs vehicle.
Yeah, it kinda makes me worry that even if he made another TM he would repeat the mistakes of the 2012 version. I don't understand how on one hand he seems to get that everyone's problem with the 2012 version is the lack of an interesting story and character development, which basically amounted to the single player sucked. But on the other hand he says a new one wouldn't have a story mode because it's all about multiplayer now. Online multiplayer is great but this notion so many developers seem to have that it's all that matters is demonstrably false. Tons and tons and tons of people still want to play through an enjoyable story when they play a game, it's not all about shooting and racing your friends online. And generally I like to play the story first, that's how I get good at the game, then I play around online. The campaign makes a good stepping stone to the competitive realm of online play.
As someone who loves twisted, Gotta say this 3 part twisted metal retrospective was fantastic. It’s a shame TM 2012 never got the remaster treatment at least, definitely deserved a second chance with more content. Out of all the useless remasters we got last gen, Twisted Metal probably deserved one the most. The gameplay is still top notch, just needed more content.
Also David says they didn't teach players the depth to the gameplay, but it was something I learned on my own when it came out. The first moment I learned there's stuff going on was when I played Grimm and when you had his chainsaw, you can do the wheelie and it lights up the chainsaw for more damage. Same. It took me a while to get into Twisted Metal (PS3) I have played Tm2 and loved TM: Black. The changes were definitely less obvious. It is a really underrated game. Yeah, the racing sections were out of place, but they weren't terrible.

Man, I really want Twisted Metal to come back, especially now with the Esport scene being as big as it is. Tho' if it indeed wanted to go for that scene it'd need to be multiplatform honestly. And I totally am the fan that wants it all not just the multiplayer.
Imagine. Playing Twisted Metal with an Xbox Controller. It would feel so weird. Just seeing the A,B,X,Y buttons on screen will make me feel like I'm in a dream.
Twisted metal black is kinda like DMC 4, where the games has so much depth but is mostly just glitch tech and stuff that developers never really intended players to do, but the flexibility of the systems allowed for those things to happen.
Amazing work man. Beautiful retrospective for an amazing and sadly absent series. I need more Twisted Metal in my life. Hell, I'll take any kind of Jaffe goodness. I was one of the few people who genuinely loved everything about Drawn to Death. Presentation, gameplay, and that story you had to dig deep for. But like Jaffe said, no one noticed or cared. I wish him and Twisted Metal the best. Crossing my fingers for anything new in the Twisted Metal series.
@Cynical Joker I get that it doesn't affect the gameplay, duh. It's cosmetic. but, this is the PS longest running title. Where is your pride? You obviously care about the IP or you would not reply so why do you not care about its identity?
@Cynical Joker how hard is it to slap on a few character skins? I get that there are defenders of TM 2012, I wish I was there with you But that game suffered in development. Prior to it's release it was multiplayer only digital download, then suddenly single player was mashed in last second. And if they had saved that time they wasted on a last second single player and made some character models with unlockable skins and adjustments to online connectivity the TM player base would not be so divided with TM2012.
Watched all the way to the end and am glad I did. Twisted Metal was a big part of my childhood in the 90s playing the games (especially 2) with my friends, brother and cousins. I just went out and bought Twisted Metal 2 because of this. Thank you for filling in many things I didn't know and letting Jaffe have this time to speak.
The stories in this game worked so well. The live action was fantastic! I do wish there were more characters and stories of course, but they definitely should have been live action and as well done as the ones we got
I’ll have to watch this later at work, but am I ever excited to watch this! Edit: It really is amazing how much love and care you put into these and it really shows. At the section(s) where David is talking about the different types of Twisted Metal fans, I can understand that. I’ve never been big on online multiplayer ‘cause it’s not my thing. As a kid, I always got smashed by the mid bosses in these games, and just stuck to fighting bots. I was excited when TM 2012 came out and got it day one. I immediately dived into matches with bots and loved it. I eventually tried the story mode, and while sadden by the fact that it’s only three characters, the extra production sort of made up for it. Kinda. I never got past Mr Grimms final boss. Nowadays, whenever I set up my PS3, Twisted Metal is always one of the first game’s I pop in.
I came back to this god tier retrospective after hearing about the news of the Twisted Metal TV series and even a new game in the works. Hopefully the game aspect is true, because I'm really craving another Twisted Metal. As for the TV show starring Anthony Mackie as John Doe, I really don't know what to think. I find it quite odd that after nearly 10 years since the last Twisted Metal game, they announced a TV series... Either way, hopefully David Jaffe is somehow involved.
Thank you for making this, personally I LOVE!! the Twisted Metal 2012 cutscene/movie The style is unique in it's grungy feel you'd likely not obtain through a real world environment. I love it
I’m the type that never had a problem with anything and enjoyed each games mechanics and story and everything I grew up playing these games in exact order when they came out starting with the original and up except for head on because never really played psp too much and even when I finally seen psp even had a twisted metal game I never got around to getting it, yes I know the mechanics and story ect was different in 3 and 4 because of 989 studios and I was a kid and never really realized other then the new 989 studios logo on startup I noticed it felt and looked different I just seen it as a new continuing of the games and newer games naturally come with better or different graphics and physics ect and never noticed back then it was because of different people working on it. My point is I always loved everything about the franchise including tm black and was always sad there was no tm black 2 not counting harbor city because it wouldn’t of truly been a sequel not the way the game was going. As for this last one tm 2012 I just recently played it because I got around to trying PlayStation now on ps4 and the game was there and decided to give it a try because I was excited for it back then before it even came out but just like tm head on I never got around to buying it and forgot about it till now so I never got to experience the online gameplay unfortunately but the controls ect are great and level layouts are too except for the story races I will agree with you on that because they all pissed me off especially that one with the final moving checkpoint the cars are not designed for racing especially in small spaces ect. Regardless what the games main focus being this time the online but what old fans and most people would enjoy about the franchise is variety in characters and yes I do love the old way where each character had a unique car to them I could get over that if more roster of playable characters for story mode was made like around 12 to 15 characters not including bonus boss ones or hidden drivers even they used different vehicles. Maybe I’m crazy but it never got stale to me growing up playing and beating the game with every single character the game had to offer so I could enjoy each control and special style and enjoying the ending I worked hard with that character and I still feel that way. I remember when I played all the games to death growing up as a kid and then a teen, the last ones I played to death was both tm black and tm small brawl, want friendly advise from a tm fan and veteran of the franchise, I suggest if you ever decide to give tm another chance regardless if you choose to continue the story from this one and a part of me wants it because it got really interesting with the son becoming the new sweet tooth and the daughter becoming her own sweet tooth version thanks to calypsos outfit turning her into a sort of baby tooth, anyway if you also want online again is fine except for the love of god don’t add any races. Add the online as the replay part of the game and just have more characters so we can get more awesome stories because i loved everything about tm including the story, could always add new ways to play during maps like activating switches to close metal shutters or to create platforms to new areas sorta like some in tm black with the downed plane ect and if you choose to start fresh with a new main story and calypso all together I recommend highly getting mel to do it because to me Mel’s voice is calypso in carnet. If either of you are reading this thank you for you’re time and I just want to see twisted metal rise again to the top because I have faith in the franchise and I think it can find a balance for everyone to enjoy, I am _______ and I thank you for playing twisted metal.
I love TM, particulary TM 2012 (Around 900 hours in the online mode). Thank you David for your work and thank you Ghenry for this retrospective, it brought a lot of good memories.
Couldn't imagine putting that much time into a shit game. That game was an imposter of a game. They should have called that game something else cuz it wasn't Twisted Metal.
While I'm really not a fan of Twisted Metal (having no experience playing the games) I can still proudly say that I respect David Jaffe for everything he has created and appreciate his level of thinking on his video games.
I never played a Twisted Metal game but your video series made me want to get into the games. I think I am going to start off with Black because it seems like the sort of thing I'd like the most. I have immense respect for David for making such an interesting series and giving it all his passion. This was a stellar video series and I could tell you were passionate. Thank you for the videos!
Thanks for making this series of videos, really nice to see Jaffe's thoughts on the series as a whole, and to see someone give Twisted 2012 the praise it deserves.
Ghenry ty so much for this amazing retrospective series. Your hard work is much appreciated. I too have a soft spot for TM Black's unabashedly evil and depraved tone.
33:17 I always thought that was the concept of this game. To marry the darkness of Black with the colorful wackiness of TM1 & 2. They even had characters and designs from Black.
2012 and black are my favorites,2012 gameplay is clean to me,and black is just fucking nuts. Also I played drawn to death when it was free on plus,it was fun for a while I mainly played with friends. I hope I can love my games as much as this man,i can't say that if they fail I'll love them but I don't know yet
Not gonna lie Twisted Metal meets Midnight Club is like a dream game for me. While playing Midnight Club I always thought it would have been so cool if they had fighting mechanics. Also I was almost convinced I was the only one that remembered Midnight Club it would be so cool if we got a new one. And these videos have been amazing especially hearing the developers opinions and comments along with your own.
I still play twisted metal 2012 offline 4 players split screen with my cousins till this game. This game is a blast! Twisted metal 2 was my first game.
I have been a fan of Twisted Metal for a while now. But I think what they could atleast contemplate in doing is having a poll to see what fans would see for Twisted Metal. The 2 options could be if they want a new TM or a remastered TM. If a new one gets more votes then they ask what all they want in it to make it worth getting (as well as adding their on spins on some of the ideas). But if Remastered TM gets more votes, they can do a secondary poll having all the Twisted Metals on it and the top 1 to 3 can be possibly remastered. But from a business/professional standpoint, a remaster would be better for the newer generation to see what the old TMs were like instead of hopping right into a new one blind.
If David Jaffe were to make a new Twisted Metal game for PS4, I'd like to see the roster of the first two games mashed together as one with all new graphics and maintaining the original game play mechanics. Drawn to death looks brutally awesome too!
Gotta say when I was 2 my dad bought me twisted metal brand new and so on since now I'm 23 and still a die hard fan if it wasnt for me seeing sweettooth I would have not liked clowns but seeing him made me love the dark side of the iconic clown they should make a remaster of 1 and 2 plus black david your a great man that has great taste in what a car combat game should be. Also it would be great to see that they would say you know what here is the twisted metal pour your heart in soul into it no time limit show them what you got cause it's the best always been a fan of twisted metal I use to draw the cars and sweettooth all the time in school the teachers would be kinda scared but hey it was my favorite clown anyways thank you for this video great edits and lots of info yours truly fafalios
Randomly found your video, and at end it makes me cry. Game from my childhood, which i loved to play with brothers and friends, and even tm12 give me such feelings. Thank you for hard work. From Russia with love
I remember playing Drawn To Death back when it came out but I remember stopping that same day. It was a fun game but I truly didn’t...get into it. Best wishes on his next projects!!
I love this format not the usual Q&A, It made me feel the connection to David and you. Keep it up. (I Also love the Suda51 series, I hope to see swery too)
Lawdy! A New Twisted metal game that would tour the United States with a bright and realistic graphical style would sell me. The old school cutscenes from TM2 were actually quite awesome too.
Having 3 characters in twisted 12 is like having street fighter with only Ken ryu and chun-li. Without the characters TM12 had no character. Amazing gameplay and graphics but it lacks everything that made Black and 2 so timeless.
Twisted metal splitscreen was my and my brother's life when we were little. There's no other game like these, and I really want it to come back... but if it doesn't it still left a mark in my heart that will not be erased.
I respect Jaffe a lot, but I don't think I'd get a lot from Drawn to Death. But that's mostly because I prefer a story that's laid out through cutscenes and expository dialogue versus environment oriented storytelling.
As someone who didn't play it, I also feel like in a multiplayer game I wouldn't really be stopping (or possibly even have time to) to observe these minute details going on in the sky. It's cool, but it seems somewhat out of place in a multiplayer environment? But again, I never played the game. I think environmental story telling could be done, but maybe not if it isn't sort of obvious. But I'm not the game developer here.
I never even heard of drawn to death. It really didn’t look that bad. Especially in comparison of other games out there. If it was free to play like intended it probably would have faired better.
This is about the 3rd time ive watched all these back to back like a series and i have to say, i absolutely love this series. The presentation, the interview, how it was all set up, man i love it thank you.
I really wish we could get a new Twisted Metal game with that classic arcade-y style single player with a set of characters who have unique endings and all that. Maybe some minor customization for each car with cool visuals and weapon combinations, but still have them tied to unique characters. I think there definitely is potential for it to do well.
I think a single player aspect of games is very important. It's through single player that you can get people to learn your game and it gives you the opportunity to do things you can't do in multiplayer and it would allow more people to appreciate the series. I really liked almost all the TM games and want to see another one - with some single player and story. Honestly the lack of single player may have been what killed his other game. That's a shame because it does actually look interesting, but being thrown into nothing but multiplayer doesn't give people the chance to see a lot of aspects of a game. If I could play a new Twisted Metal game, I'm not sure if I'd want it to be high end with Ray Tracing and all the bells and whistles or low end enough to play on the Steam Deck but I know I have an itch and no scratcher. Anyway, great video series. Very interesting to see some of the development side of it. Wish I could afford to make such a game.
I’m really bummed to realize that TM 2012 came out at all. What I mean is I have always had a sub to game magazines, and been a fan since TM the first game, but I had absolutely no idea that TM 2012 ever even came out. This video is the first I ever heard of it. That’s a shame.
The days of people wanting a single player twisted metal are still here full force the problem with 2012 was that there were only 3 stories felt forced and what the fuck were those racing levels? Do it properly without flying vehicles and the audience is still there
I remember that Roadkill was an attempt at mixing Twisted Metal with elements of GTA, being that it was an open world game, but you couldn't get out of the car. I don't think I played enough of that game to really know how it was done. I have it, so maybe I might give it another shot.
I thoroughly enjoyed this retrospective. Thanks for putting this together. I would LOVE to see more single player-focused Twisted Metal games. I really like your idea of remastering the first two as a new game like they attempted to do with THPS HD.
God no! That shit sounded so cheesy and a cash grab! It just sounds like they were throwing everything that made TW great out the window for the sake of making it for people who don't even give a fuck about TW
storywise I've always liked to believe theres a massive amount of alternate timelines that calypso basically just plays around in and hosts twisted metal in over and over so all the characters winning is cannon and hense why theres different versions of sweet tooth and why some vehicles are driven by other characters that are different but go by the same name. personally having 3 characters driving all vehicles really put a massive blemish on TM 2012 for me especially when the story for it was so damn good, evolving the kane lineage and adding depth. If they are making a TW in secret again or if they ever make one (which sadly is unlikley) just having all the classic characters and maybe a few new ones with stories with depth like sweet tooth got then itd be amazing.
I watched all the 3 parts and I was blown by how difficult to make a game from no where and satified the majority of fans. I am still a fan and not happy to see Twisted Metal die like that. much obliged about the work you have done from part 1 to 3 and I really appreciate David Jaffy and his team about the loyality just to make Twisted Metal a life. ❤ Yours sincerely
Thank you for this, genuinely, as a fan of the series and someone attempting to bring it back (spiritually). You deserve 10X the recognition you're getting for the effort and passion involved.
Fantastic mini-series here. Really hope you end up getting into contact with Scott Campbell and we can get a part 4! As an aside I really wish Drawn to Death was on PC and free to play. I remember having a lot of fun playing that when it came out and could just feel that it would play much better with a mouse and keyboard
Great video I loved all the attention to detail and the work involved. Amazing job the way you treated the content like an adult really brought the source material home for me. Thanks so much!
It's such a shame because the characters of Twisted Metal are probably my favorite from any franchise...so I really wanna see TM come back someday bigger and better than ever.
I loved TM2012 yeah the racing was hard, when you program these computers to attack anyone, it won’t work for a race but for them to end the race by killing the competition, the stories were great, especially the newest Kane,
Oh man, you had me anticipating this conclusion. Great series of videos, simply loved hearing about the games I grew up with from the man himself. Great job!
I'd be 110% down for a classic single player mode in a new twisted metal. A bunch of playable characters with their own endings, arcade style stages, and a couple bosses to break it up. What more could you want?
Fuck no that game was disgustingly shameful to loyal fans off the normal formula. Characters with their own themed levels, backstory and ending. Online and local splitscreen multiplayer that's all we ask for. Not hard! get it fucking done already!!
OMG I loved drawn to death! I even compared it to Twisted Metal when I played it! The only reason I didn't keep playing is because my friends didn't play it and the online portion became so competitive that I couldn't compete. Was so close to being my first Platinum trophy tbh. Sadly wasn't able to grind out my final trophy on it. Even noticed that the trophy names told a story. I honestly miss it. That game was amazing 👌👍
TM 2012 probably could've been something more if Jaffe and team said, "No, we'll release the game as free-to-play for multiplayer, then we'll release individual character's story modes as paid DLC." They might've gotten a better shake. The core of the game probably would've been presented more fairly, then players who really wanted the story could get their share out of purchasing them. It might've resulted in being a type of Rocket League release before Rocket League.
If medievil can come back twisted metal can
Twisted Metal 2.
HD Remake.
Full online capabilities.
Make it happen Sony!
If that happened you would still fucking complain about something.
I don't care how Twisted Metal comes back as long as they keep the Gameplay
@@AnAverageGoblin no not really unless it was really glitchy

Also there were only 3 characters!
I get that there are defenders of TM 2012, I wish I was there with you
But that game suffered in development. Prior to it's release it was multiplayer only digital download, then suddenly single player was mashed in last second.
And if they had saved that time they wasted on a last second single player and made some character models with unlockable skins and adjustments to online connectivity the TM player base would not be so divided with TM2012.
Amen it killed the game. Also the host could wait forever to start a game. The games should’ve had a timer to shorten delay
A one player drawn to death where you have time to see the story could be really great.
Man, this makes me wish I had given Drawn to Death a shot earlier. By the time it got my attention it was already close to death.
Thank you for making this, personally I LOVE!! the Twisted Metal 2012 cutscene/movie
The style is unique in it's grungy feel you'd likely not obtain through a real world environment.
I love it
I’m the type that never had a problem with anything and enjoyed each games mechanics and story and everything I grew up playing these games in exact order when they came out starting with the original and up except for head on because never really played psp too much and even when I finally seen psp even had a twisted metal game I never got around to getting it, yes I know the mechanics and story ect was different in 3 and 4 because of 989 studios and I was a kid and never really realized other then the new 989 studios logo on startup I noticed it felt and looked different I just seen it as a new continuing of the games and newer games naturally come with better or different graphics and physics ect and never noticed back then it was because of different people working on it.
I must be the only dude on earth then to have thought that the movies for the stories in TM 2012 looked incredible !!!
@@ratskraad5890 shut up already. All I see is you whining on this comment section.
@@ratskraad5890 no it's literally Twisted Metal
We found the one person who played that game's online mode!
While I'm really not a fan of Twisted Metal (having no experience playing the games) I can still proudly say that I respect David Jaffe for everything he has created and appreciate his level of thinking on his video games.
I would love if a tech channel on tv had a show that was like this, I absolutely loved the video series you've done on twisted metal.
Funny that you said that because I started with black
He does not own the rights. He will never make another TM again.
@@ratskraad5890 Thanks for the heads up dude.
Damn, I wish I would have known about drawn to death when it came out
Gotta say when I was 2 my dad bought me twisted metal brand new and so on since now I'm 23 and still a die hard fan if it wasnt for me seeing sweettooth I would have not liked clowns but seeing him made me love the dark side of the iconic clown they should make a remaster of 1 and 2 plus black david your a great man that has great taste in what a car combat game should be.
In my opinion i like story mode in Twisted Metal franchise , they are so gold and a amazing experience
One of the best retrospectives ive ever watched for a game series. Excellent work! Thanks for getting one of the devs on
Oh man, I've been waiting for this for so long, hell yeah
I remember playing Drawn To Death back when it came out but I remember stopping that same day.
It was a fun game but I truly didn’t...get into it.
Best wishes on his next projects!!
2012 still looks amazing. Shoylda been more characters
This is an amazing series! Thank you so much for giving closure to a part of my childhood.
I love this format not the usual Q&A, It made me feel the connection to David and you. Keep it up. (I Also love the Suda51 series, I hope to see swery too)
Drawn to Death deserved more love and attention, that game was really cool and fun. If only more people actually knew about it.
I think Twisted Metal is due for a new entry but I think they need to definitely fully flesh it out. No half measures.
Can you imagine Mad Max game made by David...omg....
Dumb. We want normal TM formula they should restart from where TM Black left off.
But that's mostly because I prefer a story that's laid out through cutscenes and expository dialogue versus environment oriented storytelling.
you don´t like expository dialogue , you have been programed to do so.....
David Jaffee is a guy I'd grab a drink with so COOL! There's a SWEET TOOTH PLUSH AND POP... I WANT IT
I never even heard of drawn to death.
Wow finally I feel some closure about this amazing series of games . Thankyou for putting this together
Great retrospective! Thanks for the video and reaching out to Mr. Jaffe for his perspective, getting to know his philosopphy behing game production
I’m really bummed to realize that TM 2012 came out at all. What I mean is I have always had a sub to game magazines, and been a fan since TM the first game, but I had absolutely no idea that TM 2012 ever even came out. This video is the first I ever heard of it. That’s a shame.
The closet thing we got to a car combat game was Madmax. It was a bit repetitive, but holy hell when it did car combat, it was a blast.
Twisted metal has been my favorite game since I can remember. Thanks jaffe for the great games.. fingers crossed for a new one soon
I ain't giving up on twisted metal just yet
Didn’t want this series to end. Thanks for spending your time putting this together
It's 2022. We need Twisted Metal back more than ever!
I wish all of these versions would have come into fruition.
Yours sincerely
Thank you for this, genuinely, as a fan of the series and someone attempting to bring it back (spiritually). You deserve 10X the recognition you're getting for the effort and passion involved.
Fantastic mini-series here. Really hope you end up getting into contact with Scott Campbell and we can get a part 4!
As an aside I really wish Drawn to Death was on PC and free to play. I remember having a lot of fun playing that when it came out and could just feel that it would play much better with a mouse and keyboard
2020 and i still want a twisted metal.
Focus on the story and the combat and we fans thats still remain, will be happy as fuck
WTF I didn't hear about Drawn to Death.
That game looks so rad
Great video I loved all the attention to detail and the work involved. Amazing job the way you treated the content like an adult really brought the source material home for me. Thanks so much!
You know what's saddest about that?
That critics now bashed the old God Of war games because the "story" is not so on wheels
Probably just introduction bias but Twistes metal 2012 is actually my favorite out of the series
It's such a shame because the characters of Twisted Metal are probably my favorite from any franchise...so I really wanna see TM come back someday bigger and better than ever.
These videos really rested alot of questions I've had about the Twisted Metal series and David Jaffe. I still have hope for one more Twisted Metal
I waited so long for part 3! thanks for delivering.
Twisted Metal 2012 was a great game, just needed some more content. Honestly deserved a remaster more than any other Sony exclusive.
Fuck no that game was disgustingly shameful to loyal fans off the normal formula. Characters with their own themed levels, backstory and ending. Online and local splitscreen multiplayer that's all we ask for. Not hard! get it fucking done already!!
@@ratskraad5890 u don't even sound like a real fan let alone does it sound like u heard single word Jaffe has said across these 3 videos
if you want a good TW movie, a collaboration between Jaffe / Robert Rodriguez and Rob Zombie would be great ...
i like this series, nice work
OMG I loved drawn to death!
I barely played Drawn to Death back in 2016, but seeing this and hearing Jaffe's comments on it definitely make me wish I was able to revisit it
TM 2012 probably could've been something more if Jaffe and team said, "No, we'll release the game as free-to-play for multiplayer, then we'll release individual character's story modes as paid DLC." They might've gotten a better shake. The core of the game probably would've been presented more fairly, then players who really wanted the story could get their share out of purchasing them. It might've resulted in being a type of Rocket League release before Rocket League.
