  • In case you missed it: here's poet Danyeli Rodriguez Del Orbe's incredible performance from Sons & Brothers in collab with The California Endowment and Culture Strike's Black History Month Event "You Good?" Black Mental Health in the Age of Covid.
Danyeli (pronounced Dan-Jelly) is a Dominican community organizer, writer, and spoken word performer raised in The Bronx, NY. Her work raises awareness around issues of race, gender, and migration. In 2019, she self-published her first collection of poetry, "periodicos de ayer, a lover's archive," and co-founded loose accents, a latinx podcast that highlights the immigrant experiences of the East and West Coast. In addition to performing, Danyeli has been an avid advocate for immigrant rights, recently becoming a recipient of the Define American Immigrant Artist Fellowship and the Define American Artist Grant for her upcoming documentary, "Contra Marea, Against the Tides." Currently, she is an organizer for the UndocuBlack Network and her work centers the nuances of being both Black and currently/formerly undocumented.
