Thank you Sandra for a very well presented program. I have grown violets since the 70's, and if i can learn one new thing from a presentation I am delighted. I'm going to try your egg crate method for my garden club members, as they seem to have a problem growing leaves in a bag.
Thank you for your very informative presentation! I’m thinking about growing violets! I have wonderful light coming from my tall windows which are covered!
This is the most thoroughly informative video I have found on TH-cam on AV's. I learned so much and hopefully I can correct some of the problems I was creating without even knowing. I found this video right after ordering several sets of leaves from Lyndon Lyon, so I am starting out on a new batch and will hopefully do everything right this time. Thanks again for your time and dedication to making this video.
Thank you so much for sharing!! I've been able to successfully sprout babies from propagated leaves, but my original parent African Violets haven't bloomed in about two years!! I have them all in indoor greenhouses under grow lights but the leaves are all dark green!! I will be incorporating your great tips, hopefully they'll bloom soon!!😊🙏🙏
If you live in warmer area, where there are little lizards and gecos, don’t use sticky cards. Especially if your plants are out on a patio. You will trap more four legged creatures than insects. Plus lizards eat all kinds of insect pests, so don’t kill them!
Hi Sandra. I’m in the UK. I love AV’s & your video is brilliant. But sadly we don’t have the products or the climate here that you have. Do you have any tips or is it just not possible to grow beautiful violets like you have, here, without a greenhouse please? I use a grow light but even with it really close, my plants reach up. The flowers are very small. I can’t get 7.9.5 fertiliser .. I’ve just got an AV fertiliser by Chempak. 12.36.14 with micro nutrients. Does that sound suitable please? I also have a 20.20.20 again Chempak to dilute to maybe 1/4 or 1/8 strength. Sorry for so many questions, there’s just no AV societies here to ask. Thank you Kind Regards Valerie
Great information! These are the most beautiful violets I’ve ever seen!
You always used to see violets for sale around Mother’s day in the UK. Sadly you hardly ever see them these days. I think they are beautiful💕
Great presentation Sandy! Clear and thorough
Thanks for this great information

I’ve always admired these plants , but been too terrified to bring one home . This has encouraged me to ho ahead and try one next time I see one.

Very informative! :) What an addition it will be, if it is added to the AVSA resources . :)
Where can you find the variegated leaf species?
Do you have a video of examples of different problems to help identifying issues?
Would you give some information on planting baby suckered? DO they need to be tented in plastic bags even if they have roots? Etc

Mine will never flower!😢
Lack of flowers IF the plants are healthy is almost always due to not enough light.
I have a 3 headed plant. Help!😢 U want to save all 3.
