Question about truss ties here - could you use a metal hurricane tie to the exterior 2x12 instead of blocks? Looking to remove thermal bridges for a passive house type build.
I'll answer this one since CFH doesn't seem to want to. 1. It's a dangerous pain in the ass to notch a standing pole. 2. The pole is the same dimension as the truss tie lumber 3. Properly bolted, which this build does not appear to be, the bolts will have a carrying capacity several times the weight of the roof.

Why did you not notch your pole for the header to sit in for strength?

Good idea to have those vertical 2x6 to set your trusses. What is the span of your trusses?
The trusses are 32'. The video of us setting them should be up next Sunday.
I am curious on how you will lift those trusses up there! I guess I'll have to wait for the next video! Thanks!
