    Hey Mike I’m local towards Ely and honestly you couldn’t describe it better. If you want great action at Ely, visit Queen Adelaide down the road between Ely and LITTLEPORT. It is situated on Ely north junction and you’ll catch all the stone traffic. God bless Lance

      Well Jeff you are a few miles away, but it is do able for a day trip I suppose on the train, but probably expensive.
      Thank you very much Jeff for watching. Mike.

    Extremely well filmed. As an Australian, this East Anglia area is the only one I've yet to cover. It's on the list.
    All your freight trains videoed were between 29 and 35 wagons/platforms. Much shorter wagons than in USA, Australia or Canada and far shorter trains but infrastructure limitations in UK would be one reason. Still, great to see plenty of freight moving with the international container shipping lines encouraging consignors to use rail, which many still do not.

    • @antman09ful1
      @antman09ful1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank Edmund for watching this video, and making this comment which I agree with you when it comes to more should be moved by rail.

      @@antman09ful1 Given you're a relatively small island with fairly short distances (I know they seem lengthy to UK residents, but are small compared with Russia/China/Canada/Australia/USA), overall my perception is UK has done well in having a lot of freight captured by or remaining on rail. Especially good to see the occasional port investing in more shipside tracks, which is one of the keys to encouraging consignors to use rail. Keep up the pressure on politicians!
      You also have quite a few non-container bulk minerals etc. movements - again very good.
      Have a look at sites like eelsfan (Narara, Australia) and poathtv plus M & S Trains to compare operations in my country, plus greensleeves94 on TH-cam.
      I and many others worldwide are most grateful to individuals like you who stand trackside or on platforms to bring us current action., especially when it's competently filmed as clearly you achieve. Huge thanks! You'll be surprised where your viewers come from: many corners of the world.

    Exceptional workings there Mike, great to see Harry Beck on boxes, poor old 66144 with her flaking roof, she deserves better than that! The ROG was sensational, love the sound of bodysnatchers. Yes excellent freights you caught through Ely, worth a visit! Enjoyed cheers Nick.

    Seems almost silly they can’t quite get in and out of Papworth Sidings from the loop to save coming and doing a run round in the station. Makes for interesting moves to watch though. Pity you don’t get to see a signalman working hard to achieve it though.

    • @antman09ful1
      @antman09ful1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you are right about not installing a loop, but for the amount of traffic using Papworth its not really worth it I suppose, but thank you for making this comment.

    • @Jonno180556ADI
      @Jonno180556ADI 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@antman09ful1 The loop is already there from the Peterborough line to the Lynn & Norwich lines but it joins immediately beside the entrance into the sidings so they can’t go straight in. I’m surprised it’s still there as it gets very little use as far as I know, possibly only for the stone trains from Lynn. There’s a plan afoot to completely remodel that whole junction to be able to handle more freight traffic from Felixstowe and get rid of the single line bottle neck of the Lynn & Norwich lines. Maybe then they will be able to move the entrance into the sidings at the same time so it’s in front of the loop instead of just behind it but not sure if or when it will happen. When I go past there’s often quite a lot of stuff being stored in there.

    Great video 😎🎉👍🏽 Those “Bodysnatchers” I find weird (class 57) 🤔 From the side, you expect to hear that unmistakable Sulzer class 47 engine when it pulls away and then you get something completely different that sounds like a “grid” 🤨😀👍🏽

    • @antman09ful1
      @antman09ful1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I get what you mean EJC, I would rather hear a class 47 but its ok if it keeps more old locos on the mainline. Cheers Mike.
