    drive.google.com/open?id=1ncl...
    Jakob Ingebrigtsen is one of the fastest junior distance runners in history. The hype around him is truly incredible. In addition to his double gold at the 2018 European Championships over the 1500 meters and the 5000 meters, Jakob was amazingly able to break the 4 minute barrier in the mile when he was just 16 years old!
    This year, he's already had 2 stellar indoor performances in the 1500 meters. On February 11th, he ran a 3:36 to set a new Junior World Record. Afterwards, on February 20th, Jakob amazingly took down the newly crowned indoor 1500m world record holder Samuel Tefera with a time of 3:36.02.
    Jakob is proving himself to be not only a fast runner, but a runner that can handle the pressure.
    In this video I try to analyze exactly how fast Jakob Ingebrigtsen will be able to run. Currenly, he holds personal records in the following events:
    1500: 3:31
    Mile: 3:52
    5000: 13:17
    What do you think he'll run?
    Thanks for watching and enjoy!

    Only been a year since this video was released, and he´s already surpassed your prediction of a 3.29 1500m with a new PB of 3.28.68... Absolutely insane, taking down the previous u20 WR and European record as well.

      Unfortunately Jakob didn't take the U20 WR. He was to old for it since the rule is;
      "The principle behind the category is to introduce young people into athletics. Participators in the competitions in this class may be athletes who have not completed their twentieth birthday on 31 December of the year the competition occurs."
      Wikipedia
      Therefore Jakobs best U20 time is 3.30.16, and ranked 3.

    A mile in 3:43
    And maybe 12:40 or 12:45 5k

      That's definitely a possibility. He already showcased his talents by taking down new indoor 1500m world record holder Samuel Tefera a few days ago. He out kicked him pretty flawlessly. Who knows how he'll perform on the bigger stages but I'm super excited to see him. I like your predictions, I kind wish I had chosen 3:28 as his 1500m time, but I'll stick with my guns at 3:29 for now. Thanks for watching!

    • @CliveBramham
      @CliveBramham 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@abcd-yg2rx I think he is much stronger and faster this year than last. That is the indication from the early season races and training. In the race against Tefara he had it all planned out. Had Tefera stepped up the pace, Jakob would match it no problem. He raced to win, not to set a record time. Tefara had a recent WR in this body, but I would say Jakob just breezed by him at finish. So, I do think we will see better times from Jakob this year. He is still far off the WR outdoors but it will come. I also agree with Total Running Production's prediction regarding long-term development and staying power for Jakob. His Dad Gjert has been working tirelessly to avoid and prevent JI from going down the burnout rabbit hole. Injuries of course can happen. His brothers Filip and Henrik have had multiple injuries but bounced back.

They look like a close knit family, and they will almost always want more for their younger siblings than themselves. I think he’s got the potential to break the 1500m world record, but not by as big a margin as some think....El-G was pretty outstanding at holding a fast pace -continual 55 second laps. I predict 3mins, 24 secs for 1500m, 3 mins, 42 secs for the mile. Not sure he’ll break Bekele’s 5,000m record though - he was an immensely powerful athlete over that distance and trained specifically for the longer races....time will tell and I wish Jakob every success in the future.

      I think he will break the 2000m record and possibly the mile record too. The 3000m is a freakish record by Daniel Komen that no one will break any time soon, so forget that. The 1500m record is a tough one by El G but the fact that Jacob has already run 3.30 at 18 makes it seem that it could be within his grasp say in another 3 or 4 years when he is 21/22. I don't think he will burn out like people say, I just don't think he'll be as good a runner from 24 -30. He's like Dave Bedford, he is designed to be at his best in his late teens/early twenties, and will probably peak either at 20 or 21, in another 2-3 years, so it will be interesting to see what times he achieves in 2021/2022, if he's able to break any records, it will be in those 2 years, as long as he is well looked after between now and then, which i'm sure his family will make sure they do.

    There´s been a lot of theories and speculations about Jacob´s
    amazing performances out there.
    So I really appreciate that you also included his family in your video. Because his family is simply the whole "secret" behind his remarkable results. He was born into surroundings that would be every runners wet dream. The fact that both Jakob and his 2 older brothers are 1500m european champs says it all. Filip(25) still has the "family record"(3.30.01) I think Jakob has everything it takes to be the best runner ever. His brothers are world class athletes but at Jacob´s age they were not even close to his PB´s. He is extremely talented, ambitious and dedicated. He also has a fantastic running technique. He is running so effortless and economically efficient that it looks like he is jogging even at high pace. His father&coach Gjert has predicted quite accurately that he within a couple of years will run the 1500m in 3.25.98. It wouldn´t surprise me if he is spot on.

      Im afraid Henrik already has past his prime at the 1500m. We will most likely see him more at 5000-10.000m the rest of his career. Filip has more to give, but he must learn to stay out of trouble during races. Too many stupid mistakes. Jakob on the other hand has it all.
      As a 18 y.o. he looks more calm and confident than all his way older opponents.
      He started running just as early as the Africans but grew up under way better conditions.
      Im quite sure he will breake a couple of old WR´s during his career.

    Generally a horrible business predicting away a whole career but I understand the temptation. Let's enjoy it year by year. Having watch the Team Ingebrigtsen documentaries, the whole family seemed a little surprised when he qualified for the World Championships at 3000m Steeplechase. It really didn't seem to be on their radar, so I think you're onto something with the longer distances. Having said that you get stronger as you get older so maybe 1500 becomes the optimum distance again when he matures physically.

    Nowhere does the video mention his 400 and 800 speed and best times. He does the mileage and he might well be ideally suited and smart with running. But if he's a couple seconds slow with his 800 then he gets limited. Ovett was mentioned, look at his 800 at the time vs the competition in the late 70s. Now if the guy runs 1:43 in the 800 I think he can approach 1500m WR. But until I see it my bet is he will eventually dominate 3k to 5k more than the 1500, where a 3:31 1500m plus his mileage takes him furthest.

    I reckon this question gets particularly interesting now that we've seen him downright smother the entire African elite from Kenya & Ethiopia, witch includes the world indoors record holder from 4-5 days before, Samuel Tefera. - And as we take the circumstances into consideration, it gets even better; Tefera has obviously peaked his form for these indoors races, while Ingebrigtsen arrived with the disadvantage of coming straight from a 4 weeks training camp in S.Africa. There's also a fact that the Africans are more into the kind of races that are solely for the purpose of clocking in to a certain time [or under]. My guess, is that he'll end up with a time +/- 3:27:00 at 1500 [hopefully, he'll break the 3:27:00 -milestone]
