The subscription plans are awful. You’ll never actually own the device as long as you have to pay a subscription fee to get all the features. You’re basically renting it after you pay full price to buy it.

@@jefffrye1398Though that is a fact, the other fact is that is it’s 3k unit cost. It needs to have at least some courses to play as a free version.
It looks like a good monitor, however after forking out for the unit - it’s a bit greedy to ask for a costly subscription. Were it 500 cheaper and the subscription 100 per year it would become more appealing

Probably gonna wait a while. High speed camera lenses aren't cheap. Ultimately, yes, the prices will go down over time -- but it will take years. Personally I wanted to enjoy having a sim for those years instead of waiting, so the price is well worth it.

It doesn't make sense to me how a Rapsodo MLM 2 Pro or a Garmin R10 is in the $500-700 range but these units are $3,000+ . I don't believe there is thousands of dollars more worth of technology in them.

@@bassmasta9117If I’m not mistaken the two launch monitors you mentioned are radar devices while launch monitors like the Eunicor and GC3 are camera based and should much more accurate.

@@bassmasta9117have you used or owned a premium launch monitor? I’ve owned the Rapsodo MLM2Pro, used Garmin, Mevo+, and SkyTrac. Now I own and use the Foresight GC3. The GC3 with ball and club data and its hands down more accurate and zero effort to set up.
The budget friendly options are great but come with some rather large trade offs. Firstly, they are extremely sensitive to their environment. Secondly, can be annoying for anyone that doesn’t have a permanent setup. Lastly, most budget options can’t do indoor and outdoor well/accurately.
There’s a reason pros aren’t walking around with a budget friendly gold simulator or why club fitters don’t use them.
With that being said, an expensive option may not be right for a lot of folks and that’s okay. I’d rather have the most accurate and seamless option in my budget that’s built for game improvement first verses entertainment or casual users.

Today they added REFINE to the "pro" package - that's the one you need to buy to get the 3rd party connector to run GSPro, for example. So unless you are only gonna do range work, that's some real value added. I downloaded and will try it out tomorrow. Unfortunately, for 4:3 screens, it only will run at 1024x768 which is a bummer. GSPro runs at whatever resolution (so for 4:3, I'm running 1080x1440). Anyhoo, lots of cool stuff to check out. I have the standard Eye Mini.

I bought one and returned it. When I lined it up with my Foresight device, it was accurate up to 150 yards carry. Longer shots were hit and miss. Some were spot on, but too many were one or two club lengths short. That makes a real difference when playing online tournaments. The cost of ownership is way too expensive! I’m fine with paying the GSPro $250 per year, but then $400 per year just to fully use the unit. Mevo+ is the way to go, everything is 1 time fees and you can take it to the range!

    • @andrewbock1575
      @andrewbock1575 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

You can fully use the unit for free with the view software. To get access to gspro you only need the $200/year subscription, lets be real, cancel one streaming service you dont use and there's your 200 bucks for the year lol. Also the em/eml, imo, is a considerable step above the mevo+. Not cost-wise, but if you're concerned about accuracy and not having no-reads frequently throughout your round. I have used both the eye mini and the mevo+ extensively for over a year each, and I would pay $2750 + $200/year over a mevo+ and pro package a hundred times over. Lastly I have never had any desire to take my eye mini to the range, I mean, why pay for a bucket of balls when I have all the free balls I could want to hit in my garage with all the data provided?

Ok people, the reason these camera based devices are so expensive is because they use expensive high fram rate cameras. Usually two of them. They likely won't be under 1k for a retail device any time soon. There is at least one active potentially open source project I am aware of that claims $300 worth of parts, but he currently hasn't done a beta release and has filed for patents to "keep his options open". If that guys project is successful and actually gets released open source, I'll build one. Otherwise hell no, it's simply not worth the price of entry.

I'm curious if someone could come up with an app for the Iphone. They are equipped with multiple cameras and LIDAR. Seems that someone that knew what they were doing could write software that would make an iphone into a rudimentary camera based launch monitor.

An app like you’ve described exists now - called GolfBoy. I just demoed it while I was in Japan. Review coming in about 2 weeks. It’s pretty cool for sure, but as Jefferson stated above, the tech in units like Eye Mini Lite is extremely powerful and that accuracy comes at a price.

@@LetsPlayThru for me, it was all about the chipping and putting. Playing on GSPro in money tournaments, leagues etc. I found the Eye Mini was awful for that. The BLP has been spot on for every single shot from3 ft to 100 ft putts and 3 yards to 330 yards shots for me.

@@LetsPlayThru must have. I take my BLP to the course all the time and run a stimp meter reading and then run the ball speed on the BLP and compare it with the stimp/ball speed chart for GSPro and it’s literally spot on within a couple inches.

No it’s not. R10 isn’t that accurate, and it’s super laggy, has constant issues with sleep mode and disconnects. I’ve compared it to other launch monitors and it’s way worse than anything over $1000 in my testing. But it’s portable so I feel like these don’t compete
