I'm highly critical of people videos, I have to say your open honest and chill approach has my +1. Great job, not annoying in any way!

Thank you! I like to keep things honest and chill. I quit a job that was very interesting at times mainly because it was not chill and most certainly not honest. Definitely didn't imagine myself casting fancy mushrooms a few months later but I suppose it's all part of this adventure. Enjoy the rest of the series! It's mostly gratuitous DIY footage with chill music over the top

I was absolutely ready to not like this this video but then your honest and calm intro absolutely changed mind

Haha. Very understandable. The thumbnail is meant to be attention grabbing but it is a bit off message. I'm happy you enjoyed the presentation 👍

What a lovely surprise of a video this was, I didn't expect to see this but oh boy was it great! I wish you the best of luck on your endeavor with these, I absolutely adore and have been fascinated by mushrooms for many years and even made some in vr and blender with mixed results. I can see the time and passion you put into this and your products are stunning, true works of art and I cannot wait to watch the rest of the series!

Thank you much! I had never imagined modeling something this complex and organic. Hard surface modeling is much more my style. A friend of mine knows parametric modeling software and he created the algorithm for these. It's pretty wild considering the number of variables that need to be taken into account to be able to produce clean prints. It was a fun process.
Thanks for being awesome, Dan! I hope you enjoy the rest of the series. Let me know your thoughts on those videos as well 👍

@@The3DHandyman Modeling organically can be a real challenge, and accurate organic things even more so! I learned pretty quick just how difficult natural objects like mushrooms and slime molds can be to get just right. Hard surface modeling is something I started with in sketchup of all things then moving over to Fusion 360 and then Blender 2.8-3.0. The parametric factor you have for different variations is super duper cool and has awesome results! I made an easily modifiable Iris for a Eye model in Blender to allow for numerous variations since every eye is unique! To get clean resin prints is quite the challenge in itself but your results after much sanding and cleaning up the model surely shows what beautiful results can be achieved! :)
You are most certainly welcome and thank you as well for all the high quality content, and while its not said enough I appreciate all your effort to make something that is so so cool and a labor of love! I am eagerly awaiting the rest and I surely will let you know!!

Thanks again! The Iris model sounds pretty sweet. For most of my rendering history I tried to keep the people fairly small in the shot. You must be doing some closeups!
Slime mold modeling sounds awesome. I can think of a few interesting applications for that.

@@The3DHandyman I mostly wanted to try and make a procedural/parametric iris after watching some people take time trying to model ones for printing but for renders my art is usually pretty close up to the subject to try and show off details, sometimes eyes included!
Slime molds are so darn cool, yellow slime mold was the first kind I heard of then "Pretzel" slime mold, and just searched randomly one day for different varieties and seeing how alien and bizarre they look I couldn't get enough!

2:19 ...that's not entirely true, it's just where people see them the "most" but in reality it's just because they aren't hidden in the moss

A fun story that I decided was a little to long to include in the video is that all the mushroom photos were taken in my front yard. It's an older house and the ecosystem that has developed over time is very cool. One side of the front yard is actually a carpet of moss. This isn't the only place in the yard where mushrooms pop up but it does have a very distinct look to it that offered some inspiration for this design.
