The flaw with this test is that the old bucket mute looks like the Berg & Humes 4" and the newer the 5", there is a 4" inch version. Also the old mute is not fitted correctly. There is a technique to fixing the Bucket mute that is quick and not a problem as suggested. Place mute on bell using one lever then clip the other two over the top. Video on TH-cam demonstrates.
Thanks for chiming in! Actually, all of the H&B bucket mutes that I own and compared are the 4" - I don't have the 5" one at the moment. I was comparing an original one to it's more recent version, both of the exact same dimension.
In another video I'll have to compare the 4" to the 5".
No matter how I fit them, the H&B clips tend to scratch up the bell over time, and they aren't as easy to attach as some other mutes out there.
I've also updated the description to indicate the size of the bucket mutes used in this video to minimize confusion.
@@JoshRzepkaMusic Thanks Josh, have you tried using electrical tape over worn parts of the clips? Or even finding some other plastic parts to slip over the clips. Or put protective tape over the bell where the clips are to be placed during that performance?
@@CarlyWaarly I don't use a bucket all that often anymore, and when I have it's been the Soulo ... so it hasn't been an issue. That's the great thing about having so many mutes ... easy to just a different one!
