Wow definitely different but very similar muting. I like them both, the bucket reminds me of playing an instrument in your living room, then playing it in a sound studio with pads all over the walls. Very pure tone

Never liked having to physically clip stuff on the bell, which is why I liked the Jo-Ral better.

I thought the Peter Gane was the best. Sounds exactly like my flugel. I also have a stone lined. My son ripped out all the cotton when he was a toddler. Sounds very different without the stuffing. Currently has an old undie taped inside.

Surprised I liked the Humes & Berg better. I'm not biased by price. I have a Jo-Ral Bubble which I think sounds the best out of the competition.

Seems like the intonation of the H&B was substantially better. I’m sure because there’s not anything going into the bell. Straight mutes and anything that goes into the bell will have that issue no matter what. Just the nature of physics.

Have you tried adjusting the batting on the inside of the Jo Ral. It would open the sound a bit. Also have you tried the softone mute as a bucket mute?
