Thank you soo much for the advice. And such a beautiful plant. 💚💚
Aww thank you!
Very informative. Great job.
Glad it was helpful!
a year ago i bought a congo and birkin in one pot, looking great together, congo outgrew the birkin so last month i took the birkin out, she did not liked that and gave me 3 totaly white leaves wich 2 of them i had to cut them of....now she gave me a new leave......half of it is a congo!! I am from the Netherlands so dont look at my english
The white leafs are totally normal! They'll get their color as they grow, that's what Birkins do!
I love my Birkin. :)
Me too!
Thanks for sharing! I want to pose a question, why do philodendron new leaves rot? Thanks!
Green thumbs up!
How large does p. Birmingham get
thank you!.. got this plant at Walmart miss labeled with a Congo Rojo in it.. I've seperated them and my Birkin has 3 new leave caught unfurled gonna try spraying daily see if that helps
The leaves will rot if left continuously wet.
Wait? So other philodendron like to dry out but the Birkin doesn’t?
Thank you for this video. So I bought a dried out crispy Birkin from Walmart. Roots were crispy so I figured potting it up again may cause rot and it did. So I unpotted it with one leaf and a healthy stem have been rerooting it in water. It is making a comeback with new growth and some white roots, but I’m needing to be on point with its care now since it had a rough start. Biggest question is when should I transfer it to soil? And how often to water thereafter?
How's it doing now? I also just got one.
@@lauramartins5953 I lost all but one stem to rot. I guess the plant was too far gone when I bought it. With the one healthy stem I was able to propagate and got a baby Birkin from that 😊
I water it the same as my other philodendrons. Right when it’s about to dry out I water. I also use a moisture meter and water at about a 3. Birkin I can water around a 4 and it seems to not care. Definitely wouldn’t let this one go completely dry for sure though. It did not recover from Walmarts neglect
@@gfamily1943 Thanks for the answer. I'm glad you got the baby Birkin lol Mine also came with one.
Please Bring your camera a little closer to your plants thank you
I had two of them, but the leaves kept turning brown. I have grown many philodendrons, & this is the most difficult. I tried different amounts of light. I misted them to add humidity. I gave up on them.
I think I have the same problem
@@SofiaPLikePhoenix I have two Birkin's that are growing like weeds. The bigger one I've had for about a year. I had to add a pole to prop it up. It had another stem growing separately that was getting quite tall, so when I repotted it a few weeks ago ( May 2024), I put the 'baby' in another pot so I'm going to give it to my daughter. I don't have room for another plant. Birkin loves to sit on a table beside a south facing window with a narrow slate blind that is partially open. There is a sheer curtain in front of her but just part way. (Yes she's a diva lady). She gets tons of soft filtered light. Very BRIGHT. In summer I may have to close the blinds about half way to keep her from sunburn. There are no issues. No wet leaves. However, I NEVER SPRAY MIST the leaves. That water will stay on the leaves for hours and does NOTHING to increase humidity. It will rot the leaves.
I don't water her much. I use my finger and a water gauge to make sure she is not moist. If the meter says dry, I look at the leaves for curling. If no curling, I wait another day, then water her till the water runs through the bottom. Or, I bottom water her.
@@roxannegordon6162 Thanks for the feedback! 😊
How large does a P.BIRKIN get?
Just bought one and the leaves which are completely white are starting to turn brown but not dry - what happened?!!!
Same
Can you update your camera so we can see what you are talking about? The view should have as much of the topic plant as possible. We don't need to see 50 other plants.
I need to ask pls how u get such large leaves? On the mcnally? Thanks ❤️
