I went down the HPA Controller route. I leave it in Competition mode (permanent 50/50 split) and the tablet stays in the glovebox. Makes a HUGE difference to the handling of the car, which is no longer an understeery little sod. Fuel consumption worse by about 5-10% but totally worth it. Great vid, Bryn. :-)
@@mikecochrane1437 The diff has been designed to take the power and to be full time use. The Gen 1 Haldex is really over-engineered, and with the rear drive shafts permanently engaged there's no wear on the Haldex clutch. I suspect the only way to wear out the Haldex clutch is to drive (a lot) on a constantly varying surface where the clutch is engaging and disengaging all the time, and that would be a very odd scenario.
@@mikecochrane1437 Budget about £700 for the HPA Touchmotion Controller (£150 of which will be shipping and duty). Deutsche Autoparts (shopDAP.com) in North Carolina sell another system (with App control rather than touchscreen I believe) that, like the HPA, fits in-line with the original controller. TBH it's the best money you'll ever spend because the standard car's handling really is it's achilles heel.
Best option is to get a standard Haldex controller remapped by United Mororsport based in the USA. Their map acts faster than either the blue or orange controllers, sends twice as much torque to the rear wheels as the others, and also engages 4WD when braking. :-)
In the USA yea this is a good option- but theyve stopped working with any UK dealers, so it restricts the options somewhat. There are other options or course, like an arduino build, or an insert
@@BWSTT You can still send the controllers to some dealers in the US. The only problem is then the possibility of a customs charge when it comes back. I have friends and family in the US so it’s not a problem.

Another great video mate, love the content recently. I’ve been wondering if it is worth the extra money for the blue controller Is there anything that would always send at least some power to the rear rather than just more intelligently swap when the fronts lose grip?
You can make it rwd. Remove front shafts. Recommended? No. Is it fun? Yes. Some people have done it and actually welded the haldex so there is no clutch but just a straight up differential. Depends on how far are you willing to go and how much money you are willing to spend.

Is haldex controller plug and play module? I am having haldex memory module error, and I am unsure it is wiring or module itself. but if it is module itself then I will just swap it out to used one
Don't really see the point of this video, as it is almost impossible to get hold of one of these. Why not test something that people can actually purchase, like the Haldex insert that is sold by Darkside Development's,now that would be worth watching.
I was installing it for a customer- so i filmed the benefits- thats the point. If someone wants to buy the insert and get me to fit it then I will happily film that aswell- but just because its readily available doesn’t make it good, and the reason that video would be worth watching would be to see the flaws with removing the intelligence from the system

Great question
It is work for audi s3 8p? Gen 4 haldex
No, but there are other aftermarket options for the gen 4
What power is that tt running ?
Feck doing that on gravel!
Is it possible to make donuts with 50/50 traction? If the answer is no, can you do it completely rear wheel drive with the haldex controller?
No as it’s a front biased haldex.
maybe really big donuts haha

Can I Haldex Swap an audi A4 quattro and remove front axles?
No, not easily
Can you even get these anymore?
Only second hand
