I discussed the art of connections with a man who had many years of experience with electrics in Campers and RVs. He said he had been taught to *always* use *two* methods of making joints i.e. crimping and soldiering. I think your method looks better than just using an 'approved' crimping tool. :)
Just done this myself. It's easy. If I can do it, anyone can. I now have my second solar panel up and charging my new Bluetti. Yay! I used ordinary pliers instead of an expensive crimping tool and it worked perfectly.
He did a good job! But if youre like me in the middle of Norway fitting a new panel with just a plier its possible, fold the one over the other en press down with alot of force, pull and if the stay its okay. Screwing them is also possible you dont need a special tool. Goodluck
They will connect as anything else. But it's probably one of the worst possible choices for a motorbike! Huge and cumbersome as they can be! Would not be in any decent choice list of connections! That's for sure. ;-)
You solder after crimping. You have probably also contaminated the joint with your finger in the flux. By soldering, youa re effectively making a weak spot in your connection
Looks bad to me it’s not the solder holding the joint, the terminals mechanical grip is not working, if the solder gets warm and softens then you will have a dry joint
Plumbers Flux?, Razor blade instead of strippers?, what kind of wire is that??. sorry buddy good effort on the vid but this is not the way to go about this. i would fail a QAQC check and not to mention the added labor involved in this process. people please remember you only maintain the UL listing if its installed per manufactures specifications. So what's the takeaway lesson here... your only as good as the tools you own.
After several failures due to highly corrosive environment I have shifted to soldering wires in mc4 connectors and it works. You could have dipped the wires once in soldering flux instead of soiling your fingers Repeatedly 😂
Thank you for the time, effort and expense! I can't claim whether the jerk, Robin Szemeti, is correct or not. Perhaps she will entertain us with her interpretation of a proper connection?
Very interesting. I’m not sure how necessary this might be. I never had a crimped connection fail or draw excessive amps from a poor connection, but this was interesting none the less.

This is one of the best "how to" videos I have viewed. Thanks!
Thank you

Hello Norway friend. I agree; it’s easier than what he did. No doubt a great job but unnecessary. Cheers from USA
Mc4 can be used in motorcycle electrical connections? Considering with all harsh weather conditions...
I think it is possible.
Very good idea. I'm sorry i did not think of it when i used to ride.

yes you can use it anywhere
My local supplier was out of stock of MC4 crimping tool and needed to do one of these connections, works like a charm, many thanks!
Glad it helped
Thanks for the video. If you ever make a new one, please use voice.
If no mc4 tool, perhaps I can cover mc4 with cloth and tighten with two pliers.
Yes

Yea maybe, im not profesional, but so far my setup is fine for years
Looks bad to me it’s not the solder holding the joint, the terminals mechanical grip is not working, if the solder gets warm and softens then you will have a dry joint
i never solder the wire..just using crimping plier. double check before tighteng thel lock cap.
At that time I couldn't find a place that sold a proper crimp tool
Perfect work!
You are sayin do the same with negative, but your connector is marked with "-". Isnt that a negative ?
its for extension, so you need + to connect with - from panel, and you need - to connect + from the panel
Nice. What's the name of that song playing in the background?
sorry I lost my projects on my old hard drive so I can't give an answer
Building Us by Craig Bailie
A good terminal will get rusty
First of all you should use crimping tool for crimping of Mc4 connector
Yes, its better if you have the tool
Better than soldering ?
Ngupas kabel nya gokil banget 😁
Gokilnya gmn bro?

yea i know many things in this video are not properly prepared.. :)
Is that 10AWG wire? Where can I purchase it?
i bought it from China, and this is small wire with only 2.5mm copper diameter
Home Depot
Very nice work
Thank you

Yeah Bro, I'm still learning, not professional PV installer :D

It's OK :) and thank you...
Thank you
You're welcome

Thanks... i added solder process because i dont have proper crimp tool
Why are you soldering crimp connectors? Get some decent crimpers.
Any crimper
i didnt have any and to make sure it wont get loose in future
Never solder on a crimping system.
i saw many bad crimping jobs also...
Ide Tsabit then they are using the wrong tool. MC4 crimping tool is $15-20 and does an excel job.
Lol, using acid plumbing flux on electrical connections? NO!
Yea sorry
Music is terrible 😞
Sorry
That looks like plumbers flux. It is very corrosive and not recommended for electrical work.
Tit
Yes, thank you
I'm sure the best wood makers instructions is on woodprix website.
This operation is time consuming
Yes, unfortunately
Never solder your crimps
At that time I couldn't find a place that sold a proper crimp tool
Why must you have that annoying noise on this video! This damned electronic (music) !!!
Serves no purpose and is quite annoying.
Sorry then, because i have no verbal explaination on it, so i add random music
Completely wrong...................
Thank you for your opinion
Why soldering. Bullshit. The cable can broke in the years.
Thank you for your opinion
misleading title of the video
Hardrive upgrade :P
