Like letters in a ransom note. 😂 love it! I think you will like having the due dates and if it's auto payed notes. I also organize by paycheck to simplify it in my head.
🤣I did think that analogy particularly appropriate! I think I'll like the due dates and extra notes, too. Anything to make it more familiar right now while I'm still sorting myself out! 💖✨
Yay for facing the budget! You definitely seem more comfortable in YNAB, and it will only get easier the more you use it!
😁 Thank you! 💖✨
When you cover overspending, cover the categories before you cover the credit card category. If you overspent on credit card, both the category and the credit card card will show overspending. As you cover the overspending in the category, the overspending in the credit card will go down.
Also, May gets changed because you started to change April’s overspending.
Ah, gotcha! Thank you for stopping by! 💖✨
That's the beauty of YNAB - make it work for you! I don't date my bills because it's not too many (and I'm neurotic and pay constantly), instead I usually put the amount of it so like "$1500/mo: Rent", "$350/chk: Groceries", etc. On the left where my CCs are, I put it as "4th: CSP", "10th: Cap1", etc.
Ooo, that's an interesting idea. I should probably take a note from the calendar I keep with bills and their due dates. It ends up looking like "Netflix, $21, AUTO", letting me know what, how much, and how it gets paid. (Opposite of AUTO is PMT for payment.) This is so cool. there are so many options! LOVE IT! Thank you!! 💖✨
I actually do both! My fixed expenses look like this:
Date Due-Payee $Amount
13- LCNatural Gas $35
(Even though the amount of this bill fluctuates, I put the same target amount in every month and consider it part of my fixed expenses.)
My aunt passed away last week so I'm a little behind. Getting caught up soon.
Hope all is well with you. 🌷
Oh no, I'm so sorry for your loss. Virtual {{{hugs}}}, redeemable at your favorite human or furfriend. 💖✨
Yay! I think you are definitely getting better at understanding YNAB!
I think on your last YNAB video you were trying to figure out the difference between off/on budget (people in the comments were using those terms including me), If I'm wrong forgive me 😊, but when you look on the bar on the left of YNAB you will see the word BUDGET with a number next to it. If your account is in that list underneath the word budget, then your account is on budget.
When you see overspending in red in your categories that means that your overspending was payed with cash on hand(meaning checking account or actual cash) and that needs to be covered first. And if it's not covered then that is why the next month will be negative in ready to assign. When the month rolls over all the overspent categories will be turned to zero and the balance will be moved to ready to assign. When you see overspending in yellow that means your overspending was payed with a credit card. I think for the most part for you this has been credit card interest. If you don't cover the yellow overspending then when the month rolls over the balance will turn to zero and your credit card will have more debt.
Keep going! It sounds like you got those transfers down now!
Just another tip but you can also pin categories to the top of your budget in the YNAB app, just press and hold on your category and you'll see a little pop up menu. That might be an alternative to the widget, or in addition to.
OH!!! I see it (Budget/Tracking) now! I usually keep that closed for videos so I forgot about those. Thank you!
And that description with the credit cards makes a lot of sense. Woo! I'm getting the hang of it more and more by the day! lol 💖✨
