- Last time in Nicki’s #YNAB world, we had a $1,000 “incident”. I found and slayed that problem this time, though! Pats on the back for me! 💖✨

YNAB is a huge learning curve. You're already progressing so much.
I didn't realize I needed to hear that. I just felt so relieved after reading -- thank you!! 💖✨
The hardest part of YNAB is getting started, and you’re doing great! One day it’s all going to click, I promise 😊
I await that day with furious patience! 💖✨
One of the things I do in YNAB (that I picked up from other budgeters) is put the due date in the bill category name and then list everything in the order it is due. For example, 1-Mortgage, 5-Car Payment, 8-Internet, etc. (The #s are the due dates.) That might help you stay on track and get everything paid on time. Hope that helps!
I really like this idea and need to make time to implement it! Thank you! 💖✨
It WILL be fine. What you're experiencing is just reality hitting when we realize how much we're actually spending vs how much we think we're spending when we start writing it all down. Once you have a month or two under your belt you can look at the reports and see if there's anything you can work on (like maybe groceries? Maybe not?) And adjust from there. Maybe it means less savings for now while you pay stuff down. It WILL all be okay ❤✨️
Also - you can export your transactions into an Excel from YNAB and then edit the names of whatever you want to change before sharing if you want to do it that way 😊
Darn reality...it's helpful, but it could also take a jump off the pier and I'd be OK. lol
That export feature sounds pretty neat, actually. I might have to give that a shot! Thank you!!
I'd suggest when you open up the budget and you have some money, attend to the overspending first that are in red (& you can also click the overspending view tab at the top), next I would also put the due dates numbers in the category names too and re-arrange them in order which might be a bit more helpful.
Yeah, you're right. I definitely need to make time for those changes. Thank you for the reminder!!! 💖✨
I just paused the video to tell you how excited I am that you figured it out! I knew you would! Marginally less confused? I think you are MUCH less confused. It may not be the last time you make that same mistake because it’s a tricky one, but next time you’ll figure it out in no time. I am so impressed with your progress! Crushing it! Back to the video…
Aww thank you! 💖✨
I think you're continuing to make progress, and most importantly, sticking with it. Glad you figured out the $1000 thing. If your savings account is defined as a tracking account as you don't want it lumped into your budget along with your other cards and accounts then perhaps don't have a category in the budget which represents it as that is effectively doing the same sort of thing (say you had $10K in the savings account - you would see the account has that plus you would presumably also see $10K in your savings category so your seeing the same money twice). In an ideal world you would be aiming to get the required amounts of money into the categories in advance of the money going out, not afterwards, but you said some of that is just a timing issue. Overall if your incoming money to be assigned is not covering all of your immediate obligations (ones due prior to next paycheck) and overspending, and if you are having to withdraw from savings to cover, that could be a sign that your incoming money does not cover your outgoing spending/payments. The upside, if this is the case, is that you can see it is happening and make steps to improve/address it.
Yeah, I’m definitely working toward the ideal world of getting things funded before they’re due. I think we’re good on our income covering everything, mostly. If not there are a couple things we can do to “fix” that. 💖✨ thank you for your thoughtful comment!!
Discover might wave the fee if you ask nicely. Such a great video and soooo much progress. You are such a thoughtful mom and YNABer. Whatever content you choose to do next will be great. Share the account or register screen when and only when it’s good and safe for you. Nice reconciliation dance. 😂 Have fantastic day… and you know the rest of the drill ‘cuz you wrote it!
They might. I’ve been on time for quite a while. I’m hoping because the due date was on a weekend there won’t be a fee. We shall see! 💖✨
I think I could tell from some of your transactions that we probably live in the same state so hi! lol
Hi! 👋🏻 💖✨
Could you call up the tax folks and adjust the tax payment plan at all?
Probably not. I’m the one who set it up in the first place, so any stupid decisions are totally on me!! 😖💖✨
Dont have any credit cards myself but wouldn't the payment to the credit card be a categorized as a transfer? if it was made from one of your accounts on budget ? (I could be wrong)
Ooo...I hadn't thought of that. I'll look into it - thank you!!
@@midlifeadulting yes its a transfer so it wouldn't come out as an expense (showing in the activity column for that $100) it would show as a transfer if paying card off
