Interesting option. I just installed a AIO-5 lite on my GS and I’m very impressed. I seamlessly connect my iPhone and enjoy all the features. I wish it was slightly bigger but can probably fix that with a trip to the optometrist! I also have a Rugged mobile that I bought off eBay and it use it on big trips. Like you I haven’t downloaded much to it other than navigation apps but it has a sim and I run it on another network to give me strength through diversity. It obviously doesn’t integrate with the bike wiz-wheel, but I just use start it at the beginning of the day and leave it running. It has a HUGE battery and can run all day. I prefer to apple interface but as you say you do get used to other systems.
A-GPS (assisted, mobile) and GPS are different navigational aids that both use information from satellites to determine their exact location. A-GPS is faster in finding the location but GPS gives a more precise location information. Some phones, example iPhone 15 has integrated precision dual-frequency GPS, including support for GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, BeiDou, and NavIC. BUT what app are you using with CarPlay and Apple for navigation thus the dedicated GPS might be the best option
Interesting, is there fresh sattelite imiginary on this to navigate on? I use birdseye sattelite outside Europe to be able to navigate places without roads, i find it helpfull to get an almost new sattelite view of what lies ahead.
Hi Steve, have you done your road trip yet? I'm looking forward to watching your full review of the Carpe Iter CI Pad v4c. I'm on my fifth BMW NAV VI in five years - the ghosting issue is just infuriating.
Yes I have. I’ve been on 2 since then but used a Chigee car play system on the 2nd road trip. Unfortunately because we’re a really busy mail order Company I don’t have the time to vlog and make videos on road trips. I’ve used carpe iter and I love it. There’s now a new v4c version and it’s even better. We’ve sold a lot. We’re currently a sole dealer for carpe iter in UK so after you’ve done your research and know you want one, at least you’ll have peace of mind you got it from us and have some dealer support in case you need it
You're leaving so much on the table. Configure DMD2, which comes with the Carpe Iter. (Pronounced carpay eater, heheh). You also get several nav subscriptions free, I believe. That may be only through Thork Racing, though.
Noted! I still have loads to learn. This video is just waving the flag saying we’re stocking it and there’s more to come once I’ve got to grips with it and understand all the tech better.
DMD2 doesn't come with the Carpe Iter - its Locus Maps now. You can of course download DMD2 or whatever you want. I use predominantly OsmAnd, Calimoto and TomTom Go
Thanks. Just bought and fitted the full BMW setup direct from CI (sorry! didn't know till now i could get it from you) and about to go off for two weeks in Pyrenees too. Hope you had a great trip. Question: how did you get rid of the google search bar that seems locked to my home screen?
@@ABIKETHING Ah, I now know that it disappears if you have it horizontal (like when it's on the bike!). Portrait, it appears again. Still getting used to it, but slightly disappointed with the max brightness. Better than my Nav VI, obvs, but not quite bright enough when wearing shades on a sunny day. Nice and big though!
While my bike isnt a gs1300 it is a gsa1250 i didnt do any modifications to my bike when mounting the chigee cameras in the specified height as per Chigee instructions also didnt just stick them on with double sided tape I’ll try to email a photo of my camera mounting brackets I designed and fabricated out of stainless steel
It pains me to correct you on how cell phones work with GPS, but they do have GPS tracking in cell phone. The reason that you cannot use them without Wi-Fi is because the maps are cellular based. If you were to work with an app where the data is downloaded to your phone like Sygic, doesn't matter where you are in the world if you have the map downloaded, you don't need cellular signal. Although dedicated satnav and GPS are better
Noted! I still have loads to learn. This video is just waving the flag saying we’re stocking it and there’s more to come once I’ve got to grips with it and understand all the tech better.
Your temporary audio system make your motorcycle sound like a bobble machine. 😂😂😂 I can’t what to hear the Jekyll and Hyde exhaust. EV’s can kiss my ass.
Your last line “Although dedicated satnav and GPS are better. *YES YES YES* why can’t everyone see this ? FFS.. I had a Chigee on my Husqvarna 701. There exscuse was that it may harm the bmw system and void the warranty! MF ‘s not just lights , cameras gps even new screen ! Be interesting .great vids 👍
@@ABIKETHING good news. I will soon order a D7 pro bundle and the Carp Iter bundle for my R1250 GSA And probably a camera but I need advise. I'm lost between K3 K5 K7... That’s not technically true. There’s a load of other parameters that need to be adhered to for your phone to not require data to navigate without an issue.
If it makes any difference…..I did ask the head foreman at the dealership if it was ok to arrive caked in mud. It got pressure washed before they took it in.
@@ABIKETHING I would not even want some one else pressure washing one of my bikes let alone working on it. I saw in 2020 my Local Power Sports Dealer was charging $120.00 per hour to work on bikes. Thus if you washed it yourself you would be saving close to $120.00 per hour..
I’ve. Had one for two years and it is awesome never leave the paved roads without it.

I really thought you was going to bin it on route to the service brave man
Bet they loved you 😂 turning up like that

Can you do some more content on the Carpe?
I use DMD2 with a 1000 nits tablet and it´s great :)

No worries! I don’t recall seeing that search bar. I’m about to let mine go with the bike so I’ll be opening another new one. I’ll look out for it.

IMHO, every rider thinks they have the best navigation system.
Haha, even the guys with outdated maps!
it support IOS?
The Tripltek T9 Pro is much better.
Yea, but it's also more expensive.

Why the bike sounds like a Tin can ?
I did say the audio is bad

Tom tom rider 550 👍
not cool you could have stopped at a jet wash on the way for 5 mins ,
I’ll let you into a secret. I asked bmw dealer the day before if they were ok with it. Shock and awe…..it worked .
