Yet, here I am finishing up our first homeschool school year with my 5th, 2nd, and preschooler! 🤪 My point... Never say never... BTW, I'm also a healthcare worker (CT Technologist in Radiology) and went down to working just one day a week this year to school my children. We will see what next year brings!
Love this, thank you for the homeschool motivation. I needed it today. Also, I can't tell you enough how much you have blessed my heart as a mother and a homeschool mom.
Yes please share more about high school! Are you following your state’s guidelines or specific college requirements in mind? This would be a great one with your mom too.
We used Stacey Lloyds literature unit on “Fahrenheit 451” this yesr with my 10th grader, it was really well done. I read the book with my kid and its one of my favourites now.
I have used Abeka math, Horizons, and TGATB. My daughter using horizons wrote "I hate math" on the edges of her pages. My other daughter using TGATB wrote "I love math" on her pages. I've already bought all 4 of my kids TGATB math for next school year. 😝
I am the same. Usually this time of year, I am frantically researching something new because the year went so poorly. But we switched to Heart of Dakota this year and it has been a fantastic year. So many beautiful living books and my kids were able to work independently :) Makes such a difference to have a few years under your belt so you know what will work for your own kids.
I have some highschool content on my channel- and will be doing a fun curriculum haul in a couple of weeks! I’m excited about a few things we will be trying for next year. My high schooler will be in 11th grade next year! Just throwing that out there because it is HARD to find highschool homeschool content on TH-cam!
TGTB just gets better every revision! So thankful for your homeschool content. You were one of my first homeschool bloggers I ever watched and found the good and the beautiful!
Just want to say this is a great channel! I teach management topics online (leadership, motivation, conflict, etc.), and it can be a challenge. I love seeing all of these positive comments!
This is my first year homeschooling. I have a 7yo in 1st grade. But I am definitely interested in homeschooling a high schooler. Even though that is many years away for us, it already gives me anxiety 😬 Thank you for sharing this info with us!
I loved all of your recommendations. I have a rising sixth grader for the fall and I welcome any and all ideas for curriculum especially science! Thank you for making this video. It was extremely helpful! ❤️
Love to have come across your channel! I'm also a ten year veteran homeschool mama... High school down to a 4yo. So your tips and advice and solidarity are so perfect. Thank you for taking the time to share your resources. I also am a lifelong learner, which makes homeschooling through high school even more interesting! (PS. Love your hair and makeup! And I'll have to look up that science!)
Yes, please do a video on creating electives for your high schooler. My oldest will be in 9th grade in the fall. Looking forward to continuing our homeschooling journey
I am loving The Great Classes/Wondrium right now.... I have Hoopla through my public library, and can get a binge pass for 7 days for it without having to pay anything, and when they added it,they added extra borrows so I didn't really lose anything by borrowing those too.
Yes! Please share more about highschool!! I will have a 7th and 8th grader next year and I've been researching all of our high school options. Thanks!!
First, I always think you look so much like Scarlett Johansson. You're beautiful! Anyway, I appreciate your channel so much. We homeschool our 4 kids and love it. We recently lost our fifth daughter at 8 days old last Christmas to an extremely rare genetic disorder (Trisomy 22) that we didn't know she had until she was 7 days old. Her story has God's fingerprints all over it and we know that God is using our story for His glory - something good will come out of this. Now we have so much peace and joy as we are in the early stages of the adoption process. We know it probably won't be an easy journey, but there's a baby out there who needs us, and my heart was left with a hole where I need to love and nurture him or her. If I were to get pregnant again I would be a high-risk for uterine rupture because my last baby had to be delivered via classical incision c-section, and I don't think it's wise to put a baby or myself at that risk. Adoption is definitely birthed from loss, as you wisely say. In our case, that applies in more than one way. Your beautiful family is a tapestry woven together so intricately by the Lord, and it has been such a blessing to watch and learn from all you share with us. Thank you for doing what you do.
Very informative, thank you. My oldest just turned 3 and I am navigating the “workbooks”. I’ve only purchased from Walmart thus far so I’ll check out the BOB books. Cheers from Southern California (Lake Arrowhead).
We are doing astronomy for our primary class this month, and Chris Hadfield's Master Class was fantastic! Our son is in the 6th-grade, but I feel even younger children would enjoy it, maybe 4th-grade and up. Master Class has been a big part of our learning. Yes, I would love you to do more upper-grade videos. Thanks, Angela.
I wont even have kids for several more years, but grew up homeschooled and am committed to doing it with my own. I can hardly imagine doing it with so many though lol. I love watching homeschooler videos to gather ideas before I get to that point.
This is the best! Could you do a video on how you organize your teacher binder? That is something I would love to see! Also interested in the “elective classes” & learning more! Also love to learn more about middle school! And how y’all do coops or meet friends ect at the older ages! Just ideas! Love your channel!
Thank you Angela! I have 2 in High School, 1 in middle school. It's great to get more idea's for that. You're totally not a dweeb! Enjoy your videos immensely. Take care!
I'm another vote for high school content! We are just about to finish up my oldest's 9th grade year. It went great but I want to make some tweaks next year and some of this information looks perfect for him! We too had a difficult time with science this year... we switched to the Biology 101 DVD course and so far he has liked it. I'm definitely checking out Fascinating Science for next year, it looks so good.
I've used quite a few resources created by Stacey Lloyd, and I agree that they are high-quality and effective! I've especially liked her lessons on specific writing techniques.
Great video! I’m finishing up my 20th year of homeschooling and found it so neat to watch a video where most of what you mentioned I had never heard of before. On your look up teachers pay teachers for my high schooler who wants to study Asian literature next year!
Thanks for this video. My daughter is only 2nd grade but this video made me feel less panic about teaching the upper grades and High school. It looks like it is possible with your suggestions.
We absolutely loved the TGTB Math this year. Its exactly what i was looking for and it was fun too. My daughter loved it. Excited to do the K with my 5 year old this year.
I love that you said we were probably homeschoolers if we were still watching 😂 I love watching these videos and so wish I could do this for my 1st grader! How do people work AND homeschool?
Love your channel! I would also love to hear about your experience with homeschooling high school! I thought TGTB didn't go very deep and she'd finish in 2-5 min. I also started her in CLE reading gr 2 for fun and she enjoys it. Reading comprehension with wholesome stories. All this to say that I don't think people give it enough credit. I do give her incentives to do it without me nagging; no screen time or friends till I it's all finished. She just turned 7 and has 2weeks left of grade 1 math and she'll be all in grade 2. I'm going to keep going through the summer with math 2-3 days a week so she doesn't forget what she's learned. I think master books would be my choice for science and social but shipping is too much for me right now.
We have Bob books but I hadn’t ever heard of those workbooks either! I Ordered one for my son to work through this summer. From what I saw on amazon it Kinda reminds me of Explode the Code only more interesting.
So helpful, as are all your videos! Thank you!! Wondering whether you might consider doing a video on your favorite/highly recommended "Teachers Pay Teachers" educators & resources? There is so much to choose from on that site, it would be helpful to hear who you go to again and again for various subjects etc.

I was very overwhelmed when I first started too! There are so many options out there! Do you have a local homeschool group? Ours has curriculum nights a couple times a year where everyone just brings all their curriculum and you can mingle and check it all out! My biggest piece of advice is just to try things and if they aren’t working, don’t feel bad switching. I am the type of person who likes to finish things and check things off lists, but if the curriculum isn’t serving your family well it’s not worth sticking it out. And the season of figuring things out will not last forever! We are going into our third year of homeschooling and we haven’t changed much at all from our second year to our third year. I am so thankful I tried so many things the first couple years! Kids are sponges and you will be shocked how much they are learning. My kids did well in public school, but they are thriving at home!! You will get there- just be gentle with yourself and stick it out!!!
As the summer gets here if you have time, I would love some tips as a seasoned mom on homeschooling on a budget. I don't want to compromise my kids' education but I can't go into debt to do it either. This is my first official year but I've been homeschooling for 2 years technically. Just not on record. But starting for real is a little intimidating.
