Seems like Samsung and Huawei wasted their money on researching fold screen phones then.
A detachable second screen seems like the best solution so far. If you want to travel light you can take it off. The second screen like this seems good for longer emails, some casual gaming and multitasking. I kind of wish the iPhone had a case like this.
About 12 years ago I used to have LG chocolate, it's great for LG to revive its Smart phone,can't wait to have one.
That is actually a very cool device and a practical answer to dual screens. It would be replaceable, chargeable and can use the mob in regular build when needed
Not to mention more durable and less costly :)

I think Samsung fold should do the same as this one tho..because of how the way it folds..inwards instead of outwards..just wait for Samsung to implement an software update for it once the fold hit the stores..

LG solved the dual screen issue just like the pencil and astronaut's pen.
Greate video! For those who use smartphones a lot for work/creativity, these dual screens can really be appreciated. Handy multi screens are more useful than a pen. Also the QUAD DAC man!

I purchased my brandnew LG V50 here in the Philippines for only $550. Phone is awesome. 100x better than my Huawei P30 in terms of performance, gaming, AUDIO and Video Capabilities

I like LG phones, I traded my P30 Pro for this one. I don't have the same experience, though. I think my P30 pro is smoother and faster. P30's camera is also way better, even with the v50's manual cam. P30 pro's battery also performs better.
What's better in LG though is its higher resolution screen, audio, only if you use wired earphones. And video capture.

Just got me a LG V35 and man! I want that v50 now. lol 😂 I'll play with my new v35 first. Then I'll save up for that one! What's really disappointing is that Motorola never opt for a dual screen mod!
This is great because now if you drop your phone it is impossible to drop flat on the screen, both screens face inwards, minimizing risk of screen fracture.
Designing a case to fit around the phone with dual screen attached... might be a serious headache and I doubt any will be available.

This is good for multitasking, the problem is since it powers the other screen then theres bound to be batter problems, then another concern is the core power if it can run games smooth on dual screen

So, if you are playing TH-cam in the 2nd display, do you hear the audio if you have Messages open in the primary? What if you have YT open in both?

Not really. One reason would be that every current dual app feature limits them to half of the screen at most. Which is not optimal for long lists.
Can you tap an app icon on both screens simultaneously and those apps both will pop up?

I don't see the 3 pins on the sprint variant of the V50. I just bought the V50 last week & it's been a struggle to even find the dual screen accessory smh

Watching this in my V30
With this phone used at 8k now used. You can get the Foldable screen experience for 10k total now.

It might "sound" weird, but I think it's missing a little sceen on the outside of the fold/case

I am a die hard Samsung fan using s10+ but must say the LG v50 is the most slept on phone great specs great screen great battery life it's a all around great phone
If I import an LG v50 dual-screen from overseas to the US, will it work with my v50? I alsotried placing the dual screen from the LG G 8 x. It fits my v50 without any issues but it does not work.
On the LG G a tax rule screen that connects via the USB C on the bottom. I noticed. On the dual screen from overseas there is those three prongs on the back of the phone. On my v50 there are no prongs on the back of the phone. But that's the only way it's gets powered I assume that importing a screen from overseas will not work with my American v50. Are you
can you use split screen on both screens?
It's good for multi-tasking with 2 apps at the same time. I'm guessing copy-paste maybe smooth and easy unless someone says otherwise.
I have had it for just under 2 weeks now, it is just amazing, the sound, the camera's, the speed and even the battery life, it is just amazing. It came with excellent ear buds and a wireless charger but it was a cheap charger, I bought a better one and it charges so fast. It is the best phone that I have ever own, much better than I expected.

@darkenergy agreed it's a gimmick alright, but so are all the fold phones right now but no doubt that other major brands will copy much of what LG is offering here
LG used to have phones that folded sideways, VX9800, Envy, XV6800, and I forget what else. This phone does look really cool though.

So I cannot get the dual screen for this phone in the states and when will it be sold unlocked, no one seems to know?
You can get the dual screen version of the g8 (g8x) through sprint now ( so probably best buy also). I also saw where you can buy the v50 version directly from Korea on ebay (not sure of carrier matchups though)

all I want from a new 5g phone is some sort of LED notification,nokia did and awesome job in the 4.2,the only reason I buyed it was for that,it s a work phone and I work at night,I love piece and quiet in my car and I hate checking for notification witch I m required to do,the power buttin has an incorporated LED,it s magical,I wish my main device A7 device had that since itbs power button also functions as a finger print scanner,can you imagine how cool it would to for that button to also light up with the colour ofnmy chosing,seems like whay everybody wants in phones now is camera cut outs,I want and LED power button and maube volume rockers since sometimes I have to feel my phone in the dark for either buttons !

Honestly I would only use the second screen as a gamepad or for Nintendo DS emulation. Doesn't seem usable for anything else in my opinion so it is great that you can detach the second screen when you don't need it.
