The maintenance cost of an LC500 vs the other cars needs to be taken into account. The LC500 reliability is league's above the others.

Bought a 2018 because the 2019 and newer are selling for 15k or more. I don’t notice any harsh ride and the transmission is great. I drive it quite a bit and the reliability can’t be overstated. Such an awesome car.

@@hazardeur you're right to an extent here... the 911 is comparable in the sense its a 2+2 and they're both luxury, flagship cars for their brand. The 911 is a major sportscar with a minor in GT, whereas the LC500 is the inverse. The LC500 is more comfortable to drive and a better "luxury ride" (+much longer wheelbase) whereas the 911 is a true sportscar and much more stiff ride (+short wheelbase) with a communicative steering feel. They're both in the same price range, so I get people comparing the two. Personally, I think the 911 is one of those cars that you buy, drive as a secondary and get bored of after 1-2 years and trade in for the next toy, whereas the LC500 is something that you can chill out in on a daily basis and would consider keeping long term. I'll acknowledge that the 911's interior is very modern and looks great, but the LC500 looks like a piece of art, inside and out. Also, your average woman is going to enjoy riding comfortably as passenger in the LC500 over a stiff Porsche any day of the week. If all you care about is spirited driving and performance, then the 911 is the obvious winner.

Regarding the 2018-2021 Lexus LC 500, it is worth noting that Lexus significantly changed the car’s suspension beginning in model year 2019 to improve the car’s ride quality with respect to harshness. The 2019 and newer LC 500 cars have a softer ride than the 2018 model. This is a well-known upgrade and could help explain why, 13 months ago when you posted this analysis, there will still two (2) 2018 LC 500 coupes for sale as NEW cars.

A hugely underrated car! Great analysis. Long term you know the quality of Lexus manufacture will make them very reliable and cost effective vs competitors. Also, the naturally aspirated V8 will be relatively rare. Really only their infotainment seems to let them down - assuming you appreciate their very Japanese design, which I do.

    • @davepaturno4290

Since the hybrid models represent only 25% of all LC models sold, they are much more rare compared to the V8 models, which can get only 6-15 miles per gallon in aggressive city driving. By comparison, the LC500h averages 30 MPG - a very large efficiency jump.

Im sorry guys but I'm waiting for lexus to bring back the wood veneer and elegant wooden steering wheel. I hate a leather steering wheel for it looks cheap and it stains easy. Plastic everywhere with high-tech screens will eventually be outdated. I think you can never go wrong with raw elements like metals and woods that never goes out of style.
If this LC500 had the elegant woods from the classic sc430 and a hard top too... It would be a hit with me.
Its really dangerous to add too much tech to people who just want to drive a car without worring if the race model mechanical changes... too much stuff to eventually stop working. Give me the body and a beautiful wood interior, with analog speedometer and im good.

This car is a gem. Well built reliable and beautiful. However with the EV market rising and Tesla coming with Plaid models it is a difficult decision to purchase a LC. Unlike a 911 Lexus are not known for selling over value even if the car is proven to be a classic. this LC is different, it's exotic and much easier and cost efficient to maintain unlike an aston martin or a or gt in this category. I'd rather invest in a 911 from a $ perspective. but if resale value was not a factor id pick the LC over a 911 base.

11:33 Shows how little you know about the car. No disrespect you know more than me about value but taking the 18 over the 19 or 20 because of value and it not having big updates is not true. Sure the updates it had were all under the skin but those upgrades make the car. First and foremost ride quality. The 19 and 20 are vastly improved over 18, second the infotainment system for 19 getting apple car play, 20 getting android and no you cant get an update even if you take it in to the dealer. This is hardware. There are others but my point is the 20 and 21 are just better cars. If you are talking about buying this used just buy it new. This is not a car to save a buck. Go buy a Corolla.
