The 2021 Lexus LC500 is one of the best road cars that money can buy, period. And chopping the roof off takes very little from that experience, while adding volume of one of the world's most perfect engine notes into the cabin. It looks like a concept car, but it's got a stellar, naturally aspirated V8 with a brilliantly responsive gearbox, making it the kind of tech we want to hold on to. Compared to other top-tier GT cars, it's an absolute bargain.
EDIT WHOOPS! In the video I erroneously refer to the gearbox as having 8 speeds. It is a 10-speed automatic. I came to this error by driving in "sport" mode 90 percent of the time, which drops the top two gears.
ALWAYs fight your tickets! Use code TST10 on the Off the Record App or go to www.offtherecor...
Lexus provided the vehicle, insurance, and a tank of fuel for this review.

Whoops! I erroneously said the LC500 has an 8-speed gearbox. This is wrong, it has a 10-speed gearbox. I actually remember right after I said it going "I should make a note of that," and then didn't. The reason I got it wrong is because when you drive in "sport" it drops the top two gears, and I drove in sport 90% of the time. Sorry! - MF

When the LC was green lit, Lexus CEO Akio Toyoda knew it wasn’t going to sell well. His intentions for models like this were to create cars beautiful and stunning enough to end up at Pebble Beach in 30 years, not sell a bazillion units like the RX. Designs like this were made to inspire thoughts of passion and excitement towards the brand.

I’m in the process of buying a Inspiration series model. The dealership are bait switching from $121,500.00 MSRP, to $171,500.00. They don’t tell you this until you get ready to purchase it. I refuse to pay that inflated price for this car. The sales pitch is they are only making 100 of them, so that is why we mark them up by $50,000. I tell all the salesmen that these are niche cars like my 2012 SL63 AMG that I bought used one year old with 4000 miles for $99,500.00. The SL63 sold brand new for $151,500.00 and it was certified. I also bought a 1997 Plymouth Prowler with 2000 miles on it 4 years old for $32.000. The original owner paid $90,000.00 for a $38,000.00 car. These cars are sitting on showroom floors waiting for suckers, even the regular convertibles are being bait switched from $10,000.00 to $30,000.00 . I’ve done my research and I’ve found brand new 2019 yellow and 2020 green Inspiration Series cars still on showroom floors for discounts selling for $92,000.00 . Like you said I always tell the salesman I’m not in love with a car, and I can wait and purchase it at the right price. I tell them they can contact me when they are ready to sell it at MSRP, or I’ll just wait and buy it used with low mileage for $80,000.00 .

Dude people just dont get this car. They dont understand how stunning it looks in real life. There's nothing like it out there and you cant stop looking at it. I spent 30 minutes drooling over all the details in this car at a car show. And its a fucking Lexus, it'll last forever. Good video and great car.

200,000 miles at an average 20 MPG at projected $10 per gallon of premium gasoline amortized over 20 years lifespan is about
$5k annual operating cost for fuel and DIY maintenance. Pure Nirvana.
When I die I will pass on to my daughter for enjoyment and preservation.
Closest experience to dying and going to heaven. Yellow or Atomic Silver and black interior.

Many people are saying that people are not buying it, at the dealership I work for we have sold everyone that we have gotten and there is demand for more ..and that is in the northeast (NY). Not bad for a rear wheel drive vehicle in an area that typically sells not many rwd cars.
