    I'm alive!!!
    This video honestly took way longer to make than it should have, for those of you that kept up with my community posts, you know the story, but to make it short, I have been busy, and lazy. I have plenty more projects on the table that are going to come much quicker than this one did, so there is much to look forward too. In the meantime though, I hope you all enjoyed the video, leave a like and sub if you did!
    Also sub to the T.E.A.B.A.G channel to see the results of this challenge and get info on the next rounds if you'd like to participate!

    I went back and did all the T.E.A.B.A.G challenges after the dates had closed just for myself to practice designing, and I can fully relate to your transmission troubles. I'm now planning to enter the latest competition though, and thankfully my transmission is doing fine without hours of fiddling.

    This made me think of how terribly unergonomic the tanks I have made would likely be.

    The reason British tanks were riveted for so long isn't that the factories were unwilling to use welding, it's rather that all of the trained welders got snatched up by the shipyards first, leaving almost none for tanks.

    This is an excellent video, love the editing and the premise. Really enjoyed this. Have you considered running a competition in a similar way but with the requirements being set out by a caricature of a WW1 general in the interwar? Something along the lines of: "The greatest obstacle to a tank will be larger trenches so it has to be as long as possible but still fit on train and has to use only navy or artillery guns (unmodified versions) and as many machine-guns as you can. You have a budget of 5 shillings and a half penny."

      I don't think I'll ever get to making up my own challenges, but I would love to see something like this made in an alt extended WWI scenario. Instead of the tank allowing one side to get the upper hand, they were able to learn and adapt quickly from each other, and now tanks are commonplace on both sides. The idea of blitzkrieg or mobile warfare still isn't really a thing though, so tanks are still slow and lumbering and huge, with a few exceptions. Because of this, the stalemate warfare of WWI has only persisted. The year is 1921, and someone is looking to change the way we see tanks and usher in a new doctrine that will finally cripple the opposing force. That's where we'd come in. We'd get to partake in the first tanks to be designed under a mobile warfare doctrine, but still be limited to WWI/interwar tech. I love alt extended war scenarios and think this one be an amazing premise for one.

    At one point the US Army tested the idea of disabling enemy tanks by jamming various infantry weapons into the tracks. And, we had two opposing philosophies: Cavalry tanks that featured machine guns, and infantry tanks that used howitzers.

    The reason british tanks were riveted is basicaly due the fact when the ground forces needed armored vehicles and they didnt have a proper factory dedicated for it they had to ask train factories to build tanks. And since they didnt really know how to build tanks with welding they just used riveted tanks.
    Also all SPGs are TDs but not all TDs are SPGs, example: The M18 Jackson was a TD but not a SPG, the SU-152 was a SPG and a TD.

    I've heard that British tanks were riveted because those were built in factories that built locomotives before the war, to put it simply they did not have workers trained on welding steel plates
    that changed later during the war

  • @andrewmencer916

    Know why riveting was so popular and British during early war was because they're being made by train factories where the ships and planes to top priority and better plants to be made the tanks had to be made in train factories that is why a lot of early war British tanks we're riveted

  • @Sleeper____1472
    @Sleeper____1472 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The reason most British tanks were welded was because the factories they used. Most factories in the UK were for train building, and didn't need or have welding. But then they all switched over once rivets weren't enough for trains.
