Mate, you are by far the greatest golf TH-camr. This felt like just a paid for advert. It was a real turn-off for your regular subscribers. Your independence is a major reason we watch.
@@peterdray9921 Speak for yourself please. I'm a subscriber as well and I think it's awesome what Rick has accomplished so far and now he is reaping the benefits of it. It's an independent sponsor which has no influence on what Rick has to say about golf. @Rick, well done mate, love your stuff as always!
Rick just wanted to say that this past year every bit of content you have released has dramatically improved!! Your doing incredible stuff for the golf world, keep it up!
Rick, I'm a junior golfer who started just over a year ago because of your video of the callaway edge set. At the weekend I won my first tournament, and I couldn't have done it without you and the golf videos you make. Keep it up and have a great year!
After watching this Rick. My wife and I can't wait for July. You did a great job. I played the Old Course in 2019 just before Covid stuffed World travel. Well we have our tickets to The 150th Open for Saturday and Sunday and getting so excited that we have the opportunity to return. It will be HUGE and being part of the 150th Open at the Old Course. Well it just doesn't get better than this. I am one very happy Aussie. My non golfing wife is also excited after playing her your videos over the past months and now she is just as excited as I am. For us " Everything Has Led To This " Love that
Got a blast of nostalgia/memories of golf trips at 3:11 oddly enough but I think I know why. There is no better feeling than waking up a little puffy eyed, getting into your golf attire, having breakfast with your boys all dressed up, sipping oj and coffee, groggy but excited, while the sun is shining in, before having a great day of golf. Then a couple pints at the clubhouse after, in town with dinner and at the pub late night. Rinse and repeat. Scottish golf trips are the best.
That piece of sand art was quite fantastic-bravo fan! Maybe one day I’ll be able to hop the pond from the states and see this site first hand. Thanks Rick! ❤️⛳️
Few years back, I was working at Leuchars for 3 weeks, 10 mins from St Andrews. Was meant to fly up from our base in Oxfordshire, but drove from home in Warrington instead. Filled my car with golf gear and played about 8 or 9 rounds of golf between work days. Got on at The Old Course, beat my hcap by 7 shots. Absolutely magical! Love St Andrews. ❤️
Rick I've recently got back into golfing after a 10 year break. Last time I really played regularly was in high school. My game has significantly improved by just watching your coaching videos and I was never able to hit a 3 or 4 iron. Best I'd hit a ball and get very poor results. Just got back from the range and took my time with just my 4 iron. Straight as an arrow and my furthest shot was 168 yards. I've been more consistent with my swing, stance, yardage, everything. I'm actualy putting the ball where I aim now. Not bad, not great; looking for a coach in my local area. Thank you for all that you do! You absolutely deserve all the subscribers and views you get. All around though my short game and long game have significantly improved. Thank you so much.
Hi Rick from me in the Shetlands. I have to say what a fantastic Vid. And it brought back a special memory to me as 12-14 years ago I did the same trip as you with my Dad I was in my 60s then but my old Dad took me there to show me where he stayed when he played the old course.and it was the same as you .so thanks once again for the memory. Keep up the great work
you have officially arrived sir, well done Rick you deserve success, i stared golf 1 year ago as a 46 yr old shooting 110, thanks to your videos i am now consistently shooting 81 - 85
Rick, an infinite thank you from the USA. I did get to go to St.Andrews some 20 years ago and played the New Course. Have wanted to return to play the Old Course. It looks like April 2022 will be the time. Going to enjoy a great Scotland outing with my brother. I'll watch all your St. Andrews videos often before I come. Again many thanks
@rick not sure if you'll see this but you've inspired me to get back into golf since 2021, and i've broken the 100 and 90 milestones while watching your videos, thank you and congrats on the 2 large.
You must have waited and waited and WAITED to get to the old course with that weather, especially up in Scotland! As Mastercard would put it: priceless. Great video Ricks
Every time I see your video’s about st Andrews it brings back memories. Good to see to your thoughts are the same about st Andrews, the town and the course are the same!! Keep on going Rick
Nothing beats St Andrews! Been lucky enough to play the course and I stay a stones throw from the town that I often visit. It’s a wonderful place especially if you’re into golf! A little crowd gathered there for the 18th tee shot!
Also one of my favorite places! Got to visit St. Andrews with my wife in 2016 and I'm taking my 7-year-old son to The Open in July for his first visit!
Great video: brings back a lot of wonderful memories. Having been associated with several universities, St Andrews has always been where my heart is. The town is magical (not least for golf, even though I didn't play properly, I just did putting) and the university is exceptional. My hall room looked directly over to the Old Course Hotel and the Jigger Inn. I never got bored of the view. I did play the Old Course once (it was closed on Sundays and if you got up at first light, you could get round before the green keepers arrived and chucked you off), but the less said about my score, the better. It wouldn't have won the Open.
Great video Rick. I visited St. Andrews for the first time last year and was there little over 24 hours. It’s such a magical place, hopefully I’ll get back there sometime soon
Been to St Andrews a couple of times to watch an Open, when a pupil was playing in the wee wonders and on business. For anyone who loves golf the whole town is amazing. Never played it, but its one on the list.
Awesome video Rick! Super happy for you to enjoy that special 24 hours and an even more special place. Thanks for bringing it back here to the USA. Cheers!
Love the Old Course Hotel and the Jigger Inn. I was fortunate to stay there a few years back. Magical place. If you do visit the Jigger Inn do not swear it is not allowed they will kick you out. St Andrews is a great place only downside it's full of students :) On a golfing note if you have not played the Old Course you can't get a true sense of how huge the greens are. You can hit the green in 2 and still have 40 yards to the pin.
Loved everything about my visit to Scotland/St-Andrews. Brings back amazing memories.. I'm definitely going again.. Can't imagine how crazy it would be during the Open!
There's something about St Andrews that transcends anything else. Going up for the first 2 practice days and can't wait to enjoy the St Andrews experience. Great video
st andrews is a gorgeous place to visit! i went there 3 times and always loved just walking around and taking in the vibes! good fish & chips too! and the first time i had a deep fried mars bar was in st. andrews. classic spot!!
I've been lucky enough to play the Old Course on two occasions. And dang straights I have a picture of myself on the Swilcan bridge. For a golf fan, it truly is a magical place.
Loved this video. Were you having to use the golf mat squares to protect the course? Our local course has just been closed for 3 weeks to allow it to recover, I'm going to tell them about this idea. Cheers.
I started my round the same way, except I drained my 4th from in front of the green. Finished with a 73 (16- OB right double, 17- (after OB right on 16 having to hit over the hotel property was scariest shot I had to hit) lipped out birdie…par, 18 par). Incredible experience.
Do you ever stop, reflect and pinch yourself to see if this is real life? You are one privileged individual my friend. Good for you! Every place you go is a bucket list destination for me! Great content and well done sir.

Agreed! I’ve only picked up golf about 6 months ago, Rick has been a huge part of why I enjoy the game so much

Cinched it!

Thanks for the memories Rick. From Texas and played the Old Course many years ago. What a tremendous experience! Cheers.
Rick have been subscribed for a long time. Congrats on all your hard work. You make golf a better place.
Went to St Andrews last October for 48 hours. Loved it. Wonderful place.
love it. you should do the himalayas putting next time you are in St Andrews. it's next to old course car park.
@rick not sure if you'll see this but you've inspired me to get back into golf since 2021, and i've broken the 100 and 90 milestones while watching your videos, thank you and congrats on the 2 large.

I never tire off St Andrews just love it,looking foward to the 150th Open and the history in the making.
Coming over the pond for the Open, couldn't be more excited. Hope to see some of you fine folks out there!
I absolutely love seeing a professional golfer still smitten and giddy over a golf course!
I’m living vicariously right now. Thanks Rick

It's pretty boring to be honest. Underwhelming and Kingsbarns and Carnoustie are better if you're in the area.
Warts and all golf, love it! 👏⛳️🏌️
Just got tickets for the Thursday and Friday. Can't wait to visit the home of golf!
That was an amazing 2 putt. I forgot the hole. You went into the grass back on to the green wow!

That trip must of been awesome!!! 24 hours at ST. Andrews is not enough time to take in all that awesomeness!!!
Why you have to love Rick Shiels, he is humble, genuine, self deprecating humor, and he has a ball retriever in his bag... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
He is humble, but the retriever lies there at the barn for every player. It's the only time you need on the course 🙏😉
@@christopherhi5247 Thanks for the info. 👍Kinda weird that St. A would have that around, a bit like promoting slow play...🤔
Love it Rick. The only way it would have been any more magical would have been if you had a Unicorn on the bag. Cheers to you sir.
What a great video! I'm envious! Well done, interesting, and fun. Thanks, Rick!
Why was that an emotional video 🙈🙈🤣🤣👍👍 brilliant
Definitely a bucket list spot. Been dreaming of playing there ever since I was a kid.
This is just such a lovely video, it makes me want to go there.
Played the old course last August with no wind and a cloudless sky it lived up to expectations

Nice! Thanks Rick! That place is somewhere on my bucket list, but it is a long way from Nebraska 😬
