As a long-time DFA BatRep-watcher, this might be the first time I've seen you guys move units on the table and not just cut to the action. Very well done tutorial, so good! Here's to hoping that this gets many more players into the brilliant Battletech:Override system! :)
The House Master does not approve of digs on Capellans! But he does approve of this video, excellent job gentlemen. Nice to see the new guy, hope he works out as a new member of the team!
**Aaron rolls a 4.** "These things things happen, Ben." - Unfortunately, they happen to Aaron a lot. Especially with initiative. Great tut, guys. Love the updates you're doing!
Thx DFA team! We've home-brewed stuff like DFAO (BT Beta Strike... Think AS with weapons resolved discretely). Override is an awesome resource for that Cinematic (2hour) game session experience.
I usually skip your bat reports cause I don't like the cuts of the movement. I really liked that you didn't cut movement out here. Have to admit I don't agree with the whole tic going offline. Would have been better to reduce the tic to the damage and heat of one ML. Doesn't seem like a hard math to handle and mark on the fly. Maybe modify the crit to roll to include tic on a 6. If you want to be able to knoc out a whole weapon group. Still doesn't make aense though to me. We are totally going to HR that we just adjust the tic for the loss of the weapon.
Loved this, watched every video. Can’t wait to try it out with my friend. I know this is the final video in the series but is there any chance you might do a 7th video (or a separate battle report) using combined arms? Would love to see how all of these systems interact when there’s vehicles/battle armor on the field.
The rules are on the Death From Above Wargaming website. Under the downloads section. ETA: just got to minute 37, where Aaron mentions experts. Disclaimer: I am not an expert, just a random guy on the Internet!
Thank you! You are an expert to me 🙂 Rules are largely in MechWarrior Destiny and Alpha Strike. We have a free rules reference to connect the dots - and I would encourage checking out the earlier vids in the series!
Thanks again for another entertaining and informative video! Question: If both sides are actually moving to capture objectives, wouldn’t this be a Movement to Contact sort of session, without a defender (no drop ships or orbital insertion in play)? Placement would begin with loss of an initiative roll. I see you explained it with the whole “Home World” approach. With that being identified, why would the defender have distant objectives to take (unless they are trying to secure an undefended resource at the time of the contact)? Wouldn’t that develop during the course of play? Also, if it is a true defense, then BV wouldn’t be fair. Equivalent forces would be unfair to the attacker. If you’re an attacker and fighting a “fair” fight, then you have nobody to blame but your G2 planning cell, and supreme leader for approving the increased probability of an “L” in your engagement. Attacking a defense has historically required 3-1 odds in favor of the attacker. Would be interesting to see a random draw of each entity per force (mech, vehicle, Infantry element), focused on a time period, then allowing the operator to select a variant per entity that is available in that “era window”, then have them fight it out. Future scenario option….. Or (concept of increasing viewer following and interaction)….. (1) pick your fellow “on screen” combatant, (2) create your map (place some key terrain or HVTs), (3) randomly select two of your patrons to serve as Force commanders who will develop plans/operations orders (can probably develop a simple OPORD format for display prior to battle) for you to attempt to follow, (4) fight the battle to the best of your ability, adhering to your commander’s intent.
The PDF is free on the site - you can download that in conjunction with CGL’s MW: Destiny book. Beyond that, printing and selling physical copies would be treading on CGL’s copyright, which we don’t want to do!
That Raven does not exist in that era yet. It's a 3025+ design. 😬 Otherwise: Override became my favourite way to play BT. :) Thank you for creating and supporting it! 🖤
I like your rules, but I don't think I like the lack of crunch. I understand the idea of streamlining things, but losing a whole TIC of weapons for one lucky hit is bothersome to me. I love the ease of movement and the TMM, but i feel like I'd prefer the standard damage and critical hits from Classic.
Makes sense - don’t forget there are 9 available TICs. Most ‘mechs you can put one weapons per TIC. For the ‘mechs with 10+ weapons, you can just group the small stuff (eg a couple medium lasers).
I can't keep track of all the Death From Above Wargaming Cinematic Multiverse characters. I think Ben has to be either IG-88 or that guy who is Lando's co-pilot; he's cool, but the audience doesn't really know anything about him. I guess he could work his way up to Chewbacca if he wins a few games (Chewbacca is a winner).
Not a fan of Override. When you destroy a weapon on one arm, the corresponding weapon in the other arm is ALSO considered destroyed?! Yeah no, that's a cheap way to win. It also doesn't make ANY sense either, doesn't matter how you try to justify it.
You have the ability to set up the TICs however you want. It’s a risk/reward. If you don’t want the risk, don’t set up multi-location TICs. I rarely do.

Yes, keeping the movement in the video made it much easier to follow the action!

Thank you! Thanks for watching and we all secretly love Capellans. Or do we.

Haha some would say these things happen too much to Aaron. 🥸

Awesome!! Glad you like it 🙂 enjoy and thanks for watching!
Always a good day when DFA does a video, please do more of these and more scenario based battles. These are the best. Always look forward to them
Thanks for watching! Lots more battles on the way 🙂
Battletech Override is the perfect inbetween of alpha strike and Classic
Brilliant! Battletech:Override is the best!🎉
Great series! Really love how this gameplay works.
Thanks for watching as always!!!
Love the rules, you've converted me for sure! Please keep up the good work :)
Thank you 👍👍

It is possible, though def check out this week’s battle report! 😁
Haven't checked yet. But it would be awesome if Ben's mini cheat sheet was made available as well. If it is already available then thanks Ben!
You can download the full size one and just print it to 5x7.
@@DeathfromAboveWargaming oh very nice. Thanks.
You got it!
Beautiful minis.
Thank you!
I need to go back and watch the earlier videos, but where do you get the rules? I have classic and the alpha strike rules. Are the charts enough?
The rules are on the Death From Above Wargaming website. Under the downloads section.

All great ideas! We were aiming to keep it somewhat simple and symmetrical here!
I don’t know if this has been addressed already but is there any plan to develop physical copies of the core rules of Override?
The PDF is free on the site - you can download that in conjunction with CGL’s MW: Destiny book.
Beyond that, printing and selling physical copies would be treading on CGL’s copyright, which we don’t want to do!
All the Ohio comments I had to make sure this was DFA Wargaming and not Pittsburgh Dad. 😄
Hot take: Ohio is better than North Korea.
Is it possible to get a download of this video series?

It is 3025. House Liao had some prototypes before they hit full production. This was one of them.
@@DeathfromAboveWargaming Ah! I gathered it was more like 3005 from the description! .. Then sorry, I didn't say a thing! :D
@TheSarge23 haha glad you are enjoying override!

The DFA Multiverse goes deep.
I concur, Capellans are offensive. Both kinds of offensive.
