I was trying to think who is like Mr. Rogers. I realized it is YOU! You make me happy whenever I get to settle in on your lovely sofa with a cat on my lap. Thank you, lovely Kate!
I loved Mr Rogers, too, and so did my kids. Kate does seem like a warm lovely neighbor who people gravitate to. Kate, we have something else in common. My new little grand baby is also about 4 1/2 mo now. They are so precious. My little Emilia Rose was born Sept 27. Yay for us grandmas!
Hello Mother Hen. This is Sandy from Australia sitting here on the line green sofa. I haven’t yet seen the movie however l totally agree with your comment regarding Kate. She’s one in a million isn’t she. Every day she brings joy to so many. Happy viewing and l hope you’re safe and well. xox Sandy
The Last Homely House is so like Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood. Both you and Mr. Rogers have a particular energy that is so approachable and inviting to me. My grandchildren and I watch Mr. Rogers on youtube and they love him and love to sing his songs. His neighborhood is rather like your couch...which would be enhanced with a few quilts to snuggle under. I also want to say that I am a quilter and I just do adore your quilting videos and am hoping for more. Thank you for being!
@@suzannecooke2055 With respect Suzanne, they aren't saying that the name of the channel isn't inspired by Tolkien, they are saying the feel of the channel is the same warm friendly place that Mr. Rogers created. It's not a young or old thing, it's not whether they got the reference to Tolkien or not. It's a compliment. "And the house of Elrond was a refuge for the weary and the oppressed, and a treasury of good counsel and wise lore." That quote seems to me to describe both this channel and much of what Mr. Rogers stood for, so it seems a pretty good & complimentary comparison to me. =)
I agree with all the compliments in the other comments here - you’re the best, Kate!!! Love the new website. It’s easy to move around in and it’s very pretty. You obviously work well with Girl Rita. You’re so fortunate to have the help and support of your loving family.
Mr Rogers is timeless and so are you! I just sat and worked through finishing a couple unfinished projects and did some mending with you. As a young mom Mr Rogers Neighborhood was the soundtrack for naps and quiet time in our home. It was the only time I got a little sewing done back then. I appreciated Mr Rogers every minute and certainly appreciate your TH-cams the same way now! Thank you and your family!
Listening to you is like pulling up a chair and feeling the comfort of my grandmother's home. You and I are the same age so I am in no way inferring that you are my grandmother. I just remember the quietness and feeling of security being in her home. I get that feeling listening to you. Thank you for that!
I just found this video (I've been binge watching all the old videos) and was so happy to find a new Mr. Rogers lover! I was lucky enough to grow up with him on television & my favorite episode of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood was the one that showed how Crayola crayons were made...best thing I ever saw on TV!! (That may be why one of my favorite things is still a brand new box of crayons). Daniel Tiger, the Land of Make Believe, all the neighbors he introduced to us & even just watching him feed his fish always has a way of making the day better. So, in that spirit, hello to all my Lime Green Sofa neighbors at The Last Homely House. Welcome to the neighborhood! 🤓👋🖖💕
My mother, Margie, sewed with gusto -- Lots of style, but not too fond of technique. She started off projects with intentions of perfection which always devolved into declarations like, "It's okay, that won't show." She's forty plus years gone, but I still use her pin holder, complete with the ancient Scotch tape.
After she died, her best friend Arlys became, eventually, our beloved stepmother. Her sewing projects began with sentences like "I saw this Chanel suit...." Her tools were lovingly cared for all in their proper place. She has been gone many years, too.
I have all their sewing things. Now I am working shoulder to shoulder with them each day sewing medical masks with bright cotton I kept all these years from my mother's stash. Arlys' beautiful Wiss scissors, Mom's humor and wit -- They buoy me when I flag.
My needle is sharp. The warm, washed cotton is fragrant. The pile of finished masks grows. As in every war, we are women helping with the cause. Best of all, I once again hear their voices, a gift that defies the plague.
OH! I noticed the nice kniitted slippers you have for use to wear when we pop in the door. Today I claimed the variegated midnight blue and heather by moon colors. They are so warm and cozy and relieves any worry of getting mud on the quilted foot stools. I might have drifted off a few times but woke up with a cat drooling on my cheek. Looking forward to the website!!!!!!!
I have never seen anyone handquilt like this. Meaning with the quilt flat on a table. I just discovered you today, all by chance. I am currently piecing a new Kaffe Fassett quilt. Although I am from Belgium I also shop KF fabrics in the same shop you are. I love, love love them. I am a longtime handquilter and I have 7 Maine Coon cats. I know what you mean about cats in the same room as quilts!! Hair everywhere. I have been binge watching the whole afternoon and started from your first video’s. I love you chatting away!
ps "IT'S REALLY STRANGE...BEING INSIDE MYHEAD...IT'S QUITE NICE THOUGH..." Time for someone to keep a journal of your most lovely statements. This one wins a prize for DELIGHT.
I’m new to Kate and all she shares and everything is just wonderful. I’ve told my family Kate is like the female Mr. Rogers, and her she is talking about how wonderful he is. We’ll Kate you are an amazing, lovely woman yourself. 🤗
Hi Kate. I already congratulated you on instagram but I will do it here as well. Congratulations! I love that new website. Awesome job Rita as well. It looks beautiful. I just did my first purchase. 😉 I had a incredibly crappie evening yesterday so I thought after that I could treat myself to something nice and I did. 😁😁 I always look forward to sitting on the couch and visiting you. That quilt is gorgeous. I love soft colours. I was already yelling Sew Kate SEW! But you didn't hear me. 😂 I watch with great pleasure how your dreams and thoughts turn out just as you had envisioned. 💕💕💕💕xxxxx
So call me a bit daft, but I just googled "how to make a comment on youtube"....and here I am! I've had so many times wanted to offer a bit here and there but felt that I didn't have access to comments. Anyway, now as I think of things I want to share I know how to do it. I simply love the cards I bought from your store! They were so appropriate for several people on my list (chickens for my daughter, thread for moi, scenes from your lovely place for my lovely neighbor...). And I agree with one of the other commenters: you are the Mr. Rogers for us mature folk! Thanks for all you do!
Yes, Mr. Fred Rogers. He was a part of the weekly days Monday through Friday afternoons my daughters watched him, Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood, Sesame Street, and the Electric Company. They loved him and often times I would watch the programs with them. My youngest bought her sister a coffee mug with Fred Rogers and when the beverage gets cold the mug changes and Mr. Rogers then has his sweater on, when hot the sweater is off 😊 He had good clean programing, when he passed we were all very sad.
You know, Kate, in a way your channel reminds me of Mister Rogers Neighborhood. One of the things he did was take us places and show us how things are made or done, like when you took us on your neon course. I haven't had the privilege of seeing the movie yet, but I will. I was supposed to go in November, but something caused our plans to change. Thank you for reminding me of the movie. Fred Rogers was an incredible person. He modeled compassion and love for everyone. He was a listener. You are right. I was blessed to grow up watching his program. Have a happy Sunday! See you soon! Esther
I must agree with the others. You are very much like Mr Rogers. Watching your podcast is like sitting and chatting with a friend. Very restful, calm and welcoming. You and Mr. Rogers would have gotten on well together.
When I was home sick from work, I used to watch Mr. Roger's and The Muppets. I was born too early to watch them as a child. I watched Captain Kangaroo, Howdy Doody, the Mousecatears, Kookla, Fran, and Ollie, and Mr. Greenjeans. Who always ended with, "You can fool all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool Mom." I like the colors and designs in your quilt, especially the backing fabric. Glad to hear that you are safe and well with no flooding in the house. Virginia in Ohio
I love being on the sofa, please keep sending all the wonderful goodies they are so good. I would love to have a cup with you and just sit and talk. Take care. 😊❤
So nice to work on my knitting skills on the lovely Kate couch while visiting. I think we should have a huge sleep over/retreat right near the wood stove...all bring our projects & a dish to share. What a lovely time that would be. Even the bottom of your barrel, I am always interested in & enjoy hearing. 😁💖 Grandbabies are the best. I can just imagine the joy watching Agnes in her bouncer. My almost 2 year old granddaughter Linnea was very involved in watching...of all things...Championship bowling today & cheering them on. Lol Too cute.
I am so glad I found your channel Kate. Now I have the best seat on youtube, lovely cat on my lap while my feet are propped on a foot stool, jam biscuits just passed. Enjoying your fireside chat and hospitality.
We love quilting in this house, so we also love Quilters Apothecary and Urban Elementz here in the states. We just love creative quilting of all kinds. You are amazing
Mr. Rogers was a Presbyterian Minister who loved children. My sister owned a day care back in the late 70s early 80s and Mr. Rogers was a favorite program for the children. He died about 5 or 6 years ago. Which would be about 2 or 3 years before this video of yours was made. It was very sad to lose him.😢❤
I echo the comment by Candace Nagle. She really said it. You do say some lovely things. You have a wonderful personality and your joy is contagious. I have never really been too interested in Kaffe Fassett fabrics. Different strokes for different folks. BUT I love the fabrics in the quilt commission you are quilting today. The greys and pinks, all the colors are fabulous. Thank you ever so much for being a part of my life.
So glad to ear about Coton Patch off Birmingham I used to go there 20 years ago, when I used to be in thé UK. Thank you Kate, you are a Gem in our daily life. Xxxx .Cecile
When my son was a little bud, back in the early 1970s, he LOVED Mr. Rogers. As I was attending college at the time, mid-afternoons were a hectic time for me, studying and starting to prepare dinner for us. So I never really sat down to actually watch it myself. I considered it B-O-R-I-N-G when compared with Sesame Street or The Electric Company, two other programs that were broadcast by PBS during those years. One afternoon I sat down with him and actually watched the entire program, How lovely it was, and I was so thankful that Donnie and his little friends had such a supportive and kind person available to help them grow up with such a wonderful role model.
Nanci Moy’s comment about the book she read sent me to Audible where I bought 5 Mr Rogers related books (and a new one in a series I follow by a particular author). It will give me some good books to read while I sew. And just in case anyone thinks listening while I sew isn’t reading I’m registered blind, I can no longer comfortably read print (my eyes are still deteriorating) sewing helps me concentrate on what I’m listening to because if my mind wanders it’s harder to find my place to go back to... I personally think listening to audiobooks takes more concentration than reading print ever did. Thank you for sharing part of your day with us... loved seeing how you hand quilt a large quilt
The new website is very good. Smooth, navigable and with a kind of sliding door effect to scroll down one part of the screen while keeping the rest in place. I really like it.
Hi Kate, Love your videos, watch them while I hand sew, binding on a quilt. Your videos are so relaxing. I'm from Queensland in Australia and it's a rainy day which is great for the fires we've had and so many people have lost everything, their homes, their possessions, family photos, all the things that can't be replaced. Anyway don't want to dwell on that, too upsetting. Give the girls a cuddle for me. Jan
Yes, Mr. Rogers really was a wonderful person! It's so great that they made a movie about him so the world can see that truly kind people really do exist! TFS the inspiration, Kate!
You are such an inspiration to me - the way you just try everything that interests you - I have always kind of had the same attitude so I am totally addicted to your videos!!! I wish you lived down the street so I could come have tea and dive into a new project with you!!! Keep it all coming Kate - I love everything you do!!🥰
I am fascinated at how you keep the quilt back and top taut without being secured around the edges in a frame. I have quilted for years but my method involves a wooden frame and posts. The layers being stitched to muslin strips along the wooden poles. The church groups I have worked with over the years also had this method. I stitch 18-20 sts/inch. Using only hand sewing for the whole construction. I like you love needle stitching. Congrats on mastering your method well.
Congratulations on the website, I have just been over to it to buy some of your beautiful cards. I think it is great you are featuring your local crafts, a brilliant idea! I wish you every success. I did not hit the post button on your last video that basically said you cannot contrive or reproduce your presence and content, it is your passion, integrity and authenticity that shines through! You appeared in my recommendations while I was looking at a woodwork video. Glorious Color is an American company online that specialises in Kaffe Fassett. You can't obviously see and feel them but their colour on screen is true. I have bought from them for a long time, as they stock old lines. Well done Rita and you for a fabulous website. Thanks to you I am now hand quilting a 96" X 96" quilt out of a frame... So much more comfortable for my creaky bones! All the very best Kate.
Kate, It was such a delight to hear you mention Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood and how he touched your soul.. Just yesterday, while watching and filling my quilting time with you in my ear...I thought, “Kate is as sweet and kind as Mr. Rogers’...and now I hear on an old video today, you referring to him. Such a delight. I love spending time in Ms. Kate’s Neighborhood. 😘
I moved over on the couch a bit to make room for a new subscriber!! My kids watched Mr Rogers when they were growing up and loved him!! I love the quilt you have made and are quilting. I am getting ready to hand quilt a quilt for a friend of mine and I think the color of your thread would be perfect!! Would you mind letting me know what number it is? I just checked your shop earlier this morning and found your new site delightful! I love the colored candles!!! Thank you so much for all that you do and supplying that long couch for all of us to sit on and enjoy your chats!
I prefer to feel and see my quilting cottons in person too. I travel and live in an RV so often I'm not really close to quilt shops. I don't use the pre-cuts much but I do like the idea of knowing the fabrics all work together. Perhaps you've convinced me to look for more of those! Have a wonderful day, Kate.
Nice to see you again. You don’t have to worry about your beautiful sunlight streaming thru your window. It’s nice for us, too. It didn’t make much difference on camera. It is amazing to me how you quilt your patchwork on the table. I don’t see how you can stretch it tight enough. But they always turn out for you. I pretty much just like your videos. Other than embroidery videos......I just like you!🤗
Love “our” little chats! Underneath my footstool is Corgi Jade. She’s a bit big for a lap sitter. The quilt is gorgeous. Your self-effacing humor is contagious, Kate. The part in the movie Mr Roger’s Neighborhood when his wife speaks to another character about his temper and faults puts him on the level with the rest of us. His kindness wasn’t innate but flowed from his relationship with God. He was an ordained Presbyterian minister! Love what you and girl Rita have done with the website. Good job, guys!!
Hi Kate....there is a fabric shop in Penrith that has quite a good selection of quilting cottons by the metre or as fat quarters...its called Just Sew in Poets Walk....if you park in Morrisons car park its a minutes walk away...
I am in awe of you, Kate, with your hand sewing .. My hands cramp up so bad, every time I try to hand sew anything. I could never quilt a quilt by hand. I am so happy to have a working sewing machine to do that on. :)
yes i remember Tony Hart, i sent a picture i had drawn in and it got shown, it was a pencil drawing of a windmill in the countryside, unfortunately they didnt send them back, but it was quite the honour to have a picture shown on there, thank you , i had forgotten about that x
Good morning Kate, Today is June 2, 2023. Im still watching all ur video's! Every time I watch you, I think of Mr. Rogers!!! Yes! Yes! I remember when Mr. Rogers aired, and we got to watch him in school ! You are Mr. Rogers! Yes! Yes! As soon as that movie came out, my sister and a few girlfriends we had a wonderful day going to see the movie and lunch! What memories we all shared .. Tom Hanks is an awesome actor!!! I believe that is why I connect with u . Thank u, Kate 💓
👋🏻 Hi Kate- Just a fun fact about the Mr. Rogers movie. His wife of 51 years, Joanne, gave Tom Hanks ties that were her husbands to wear in the movie. I thought that was a cool thing for her to do. She loved the movie and loved that TH’s was the person playing her husband. Beautiful quilt & beautiful backing!
I. M. That’s cool. It probably made it more meaningful to Tom Hanks to play him then. I forgot I was watching TH during the movie. He really became Mr. Rogers.
I'm from the US/California and not only grew up with Mr. Rogers, but also Romper Room (with a local host), Captain Kangaroo, Shari Lewis & Lambchop and Howdy Doody. I grew up in the 50s-60s and as far as television for children and adults - it was a time of innocence that we don't see anymore. Children really aren't allowed to really be children anymore IMHO. There's an HBO documentary "Wont You Be My Neighbor?" on Amazon Prime. Have tissues handy! It's 'sew' soothing watching you stitch your quilt. I made a hexagon quilt top close to 20 years ago that's got to be a king size (what was I thinking??) and I've never quilted it. I want to get it out of my WIPs and into FOs. Maybe I'll 'big stitch' mine!
Last week was quiet from you, so I thought your Sunday chat would be an interesting catch up. As usual, you were full of news. Congratulations to both Rita and you on the website accomplishment. I have it bookmarked. I enjoy going on visits with you to your maker friends. The candle makers shop looked so interesting. I laughed when you thought "scrapping the barrel" was discussing dinner plans. I was waiting to hear the menu. I was always told "scrapping the barrel' in conversation was discussing the weather, a topic I always enjoy. I really don't think you could be boring at all. I always believed one had to be their own best friend first, so your comment about it being quite nice with your own thoughts, is probably why your channel is such a success. We think your thoughts are quite nice as well. I was glad to hear you pronounce Kaffe Fassett. I always wondered if I was saying it right. I have done several quilts in the manner you do, and I have to say they were some of the most relaxing, satisfying handwork I had done in my quilting experience. I call it big stitch quilting. I plan to do more of it.
Mr. Rogers was such a gentle man, my children watched every day, and , even then, I was grateful to have him as a wonderful role model for my boys. At the time, Mr. Rogers and Seseme Street were the only TV we watched.
Hello Kate, I enjoyed your post while I was also working on a quilt but mine is all greens & purples to represent CA vineyards, for my son. I have not yet worked with any Kaffe fabrics but hope to in the future. I have worked with real Liberty of London fabrics and was amazed at how silky they are! My California son travels in his job and twice brought me Liberty fabrics in the past two years. My favorite so far was Strawberry Thief! I am subscribed to your channel but not to patreon, even though I do think about it, just haven’t been able to justify it yet. Your chats are so enjoyable and I love that you have such a variety of interests! You are amazing and so is your loving family.
Kate I enjoy watching to see what you’re doing & creating. Thanks for sharing your knowledge & the other businesses you support through your channel. Loved Mr. Rogers growing up on our PBS station a lot of lessons to learn about sharing, caring and being nice.
I thought that I was the only one who was emotional after It’s a beautiful day, great movie. It’s really windy here in Camas Washington today so I’m sewing with you and listening to all the conversations on the couch. I’m going to check your new website. How wonderful that you have such a wonderful family to help with all of this. Thanks Kate for a wonderful chat.
I grew up with Mr Rogers and live in the city he is from. We have a huge statue of him by the stadium. Someone crocheted a huge red sweater for him. You can catch the old shows of his on TH-cam. He was an amazing man.
Watching this today, Sunday March14, 2021 thinking how normal life, as we knew it was about to change. Hope you are feeling better soon, John and Anna were so kind to do video for you today
Thank you Kate!! I recently found you through another channel I follow and I am hooked on your lovely chats. I have always been drawn to people making something by hand - anything actually - and am in awe of the variety of things you do and do well!! So inspiring but just fun to watch. I think most of all you have a wonderful spirit, full of love. I feel the same as most here do, like we're sitting at your kitchen table together with tea, or coffee for me, and having a chat. Thank you for sharing your full life and warming my heart. I look forward to hearing what you are up to always!! Love from Cleveland, Ohio, USA!!
I love how you make hand- sewing so relaxing. Debbie Shore is the same; making it look so easy! I am unable to hand sew anymore but always enjoy watching others😊 I always love watching whatever you do!
what a joy you are. I hope my foot stool is made from scraps fo Kaffe Fassett fabric . I had to un-sew many quilt blocks that were wonky so you make the time enjoyable . Thank you... I did miss the cats..
Love the new website - good job, girl Rita! Happily made a purchase. Kate, so happy you liked Mr. Roger's Neighborhood - we, here in the states. are indeed lucky to have known him. He was an incredible person. Love my patchwork footstool - it goes really well with my pink pillow 🥰
Dear Kate, I have been watching you for a long time, didn't have the nerve to text you afraid to make a mistake!!!. So hear goes. You are a wonderful person and a joy in my life discussing all the things you do. I have made about 10 quilts for family and you have got me up and going again. I'm 82 this year and trying to do a flying goose about a double I think, I have been watching your video and I'm going to have a go. Take care Kate just love your channel.
I stumbled across your video. What a delight! It was wonderful to listen to you and watch you quilt! Thank you for your simple yet lovely video! I subscribed and am looking forward to the next one!!
just found this video - am fascinated by your quilting style. I have never seen anyone quilt in this way. Do you always quilt this way or is this merely one way that you sometimes quilt? I LOVE that you are apparently not hampered by all the "correct" and "proper" ways to quilt that so abound in print and on tv and online. I've got to investigate more! You are just amazing!
I first saw Mr. Rogers as a teenaged babysitter, watching with other people's children. My own three children grew up watching him every day, truly a blessing. Kate, I encourage you to Google "Mr. Rogers before Congress" for another impressive look at this amazing man and his dedication to children.
Well that was perfect Kate. You were going along in your head... I was right there with you snickering and feeling all relaxed watching you stitch and stop when everything in "my house on the little hill" went black...power outage! reality is such a drag sometimes. 😝 Night Neighbors.
Hi Kate, quilt looks great and looking forward to the end results. I did check out people’s top video picks, and have found that Arne &Carlos are fascinating to watch and want to thank the ones responsible for sharing. Thanks for being my #1 pick.👍❤️😊
Fantastic job on the web site Kate and Girl Rita. Love the hand stitched title. When you mentioned Johnny Morris it brought back so many memories. I love reading everyone's conversations on the sofa, so many wonderful suggestions to follow up. Your a gem Kate !
Hi Kate, I love the quilt that you are doing now! So beautiful!! I wanted to tell you about another TH-cam channel that I just found yesterday. It's called Sew Sweet Violet. Maybe you already know her, she's a wonderful knitter with a very sweet, lovely way about her. I'm off to look at your website.
Dear Kate, Congratulations on your wonderful new website. I think the whole family worked there. It is just wonderful. Now I will watch your new video in peace. Lovely wishes Claudia
I haven't seen the movie about Fred Rogers but I did read/listen to "The Good Neighbor" by Maxwell King about Fred and it was excellent. You should definitely listen to it next time you download a book. I watched him but the book detailed so many things I never knew about him. He was truly a wonderful person who loved children.
Keep sewing Kate...loved it. I am sitting on your sofa, having tea and enjoying listing to your take on Mr. Rogers neighborhood. It was a wonderful show that I used to watch with my son. If only our neighborhoods were like that now. Where everyone accepts everyone no matter what. Thank you for sharing your week and have a Blessed day. BTW I hope you received the Birthday card I sent you. I included my e mail address in it. I love making my own cards so I hope it didn't go astray.
So glad to see you again! I love the colors in that quilt; have some of the fabrics. Here, it looks much like where you are, except for the vinyards. The narcissus are out, though. We even have a river close by which, fortunately, is not flooding. Love seeing your quilts. Thanks, Rodean
You are absolutely the sweetest, what a doll. Thank you for the space on your couch! Mr Rogers, yes...grew up with him. What memories I have of that show. Thank you for the walk down memory lane.
I always felt extremely fortunate to have grown up watching Mr. Roger's Neighborhood as a child. He and my Dad were alike in so many ways, soft-spoken and kind. I was lucky enough to find a husband just like them! Thanks for the biscuits and tea Kate! The sofa is so comfortable, I don't want to go. Until next time 😁
How fun you talking about Mr.Rogers .. blast from the past as a kid, every show he sat on bench and put on a sweater, and off to village and train 🚂 was nice. You really capture what he was for many in USA. I find that in your videos, calm serene and relaxing and fun. Thank you for the videos they are wonderful! Your website is lovely and look forward to it growing. Do you ship to USA? I can spread around the site if so. Many say it’s pricey though , the shipping not the shop 🥰😁 IM not sure from your area how it would be.. thank you! P.s. Beautiful quilt your working on, can’t wait to see more. Looking forward to book binding.
There are several Mr. Rogers episodes where the children are speaking to the puppets. Pure Love. Brings your heart up to your throat. So glad you saw this
Thank you Kate for this lovely chat on the sofa. Succes with you're quilt! I mist sweet old Norma! Greatings from the Netherlands as always see you next time 🏡😻🙋♀️💟
Those were the best of times for our two over 50 years old kids. They watched Mrs Rogers and fondly called Captain Kangaroo, "Capn Roo". So happy that Tom Hanks brought back those pleasant memories.
I too was thinking of Romper Room and Captain Kangaroo. I loved the books he read. I especially remember The Five Chinese Brathers and Mike Mulligan and the Steamshovel.
Vision on! I remember that...and it evolved into ‘Take Hart’ which also had the gallery. Fond memories of my childhood. And Johnny Morris was brilliant to watch. Thank You for sharing another Sunday with us, Kate. I usually save this to watch on Monday for a treat once I’m alone in the house. I could watch and listen to you every day 😊
I grew up with mr Rogers as well as my kids. Absolutely loved this man. I just watched on TH-cam, 1980s, him being interviewed by David Letterman. I cry every single time I see Mr Rogers. I’m still not ready to see the movie with Tom Hanks. ❤️
Thank you Kate for such a lovely chat and spot on the sofa! I'm travelling for work, in a hotel, but it feels just like home on your sofa knitting and drinking coffee on a Sunday morning here in Vancouver. :)
On the sofa drinking coffee and watching you sew! I love the look of the new channel and items for sale. I love that fabric, I’ve looked on quilting sites and found it and it is quiet expensive. When I get rich I’m going to buy lots of it! Lol. Sister have a Beautiful day and get sewing...😊❤️💖
Right now the Flying Bulldog website has their Phillip Jacobs (member of the Kaffe Fassett Collective) fabric ON SALE for $6.40 per yard US !!! I ordered some Brassica pastel that I was running low on in my stash...
Hi Kate, I grew up watching Mr. Rodgers and you are every bit the kind soul he was! I love all your videos and am learning so much! I look forward to your new one each week! Warmest regards, Donna
Lucia Hopple the analogy is spot on! My girls grew up with Mr. Rogers and The Last Homely House is exactly like him!! Makes my heart warm. ❤️
You guys are just too young. The reference is to Tolkien. Rivendell, the home of Elrond is named The Last Homely House East of the Sea.

The Sewing Circle
By Alyson Button Stone
My mother, Margie, sewed with gusto --
Lots of style, but not too fond of technique.
She started off projects with intentions of perfection
which always devolved into declarations like,
"It's okay, that won't show."
She's forty plus years gone, but I still use her pin holder,
complete with the ancient Scotch tape.
After she died, her best friend Arlys
became, eventually, our beloved stepmother.
Her sewing projects began with sentences like
"I saw this Chanel suit...."
Her tools were lovingly cared for
all in their proper place.
She has been gone many years, too.
I have all their sewing things.
Now I am working shoulder to shoulder with them each day
sewing medical masks with bright cotton
I kept all these years from my mother's stash.
Arlys' beautiful Wiss scissors,
Mom's humor and wit --
They buoy me when I flag.
My needle is sharp.
The warm, washed cotton is fragrant.
The pile of finished masks grows.
As in every war, we are women helping with the cause.
Best of all, I once again hear their voices,
a gift that defies the plague.
My cats drool also. LOL
What a great idea for one of your books Kate. Now only if you can remember all of them....
Agreed
Too funny!
@@Ladythyme Ever Changing Me ...what a lovely title! Hopefully we are all growing and changing. What a wonderful blessing!
And don't you just thoroughly understand that!?
Greenjeans. Who always ended with, "You can fool all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool Mom."
I like the colors and designs in your quilt, especially the backing fabric.
Grandbabies are the best. I can just imagine the joy watching Agnes in her bouncer.
My almost 2 year old granddaughter Linnea was very involved in watching...of all things...Championship bowling today & cheering them on. Lol
Too cute.
Fun fact you may not be aware of...Mr Rogers’ mother hand knit all his cardigans. Thanks for sharing your life with us. I love your sofa!
Lovely visit, keep quilting. Liking the friends on the sofa, thanks
I always enjoy hearing your voice, it calms me. Thank you for being you
I am so glad I found your channel Kate.
So glad to ear about Coton Patch off Birmingham
I used to go there 20 years ago, when I used to be in thé UK.
‘It’s very strange being inside my head’🤣🤣 Love you dear Kate💖💐💖
I prefer to feel and see my quilting cottons in person too. I travel and live in an RV so often I'm not really close to quilt shops. I don't use the pre-cuts much but I do like the idea of knowing the fabrics all work together. Perhaps you've convinced me to look for more of those! Have a wonderful day, Kate.
Very nice quilt, love the fabric and your nice chat, thanks Kate!
Other than embroidery videos......I just like you!🤗
I only watch Katie I love to hear her talk so soothing and I can relate to most of her chores wish I could quilt like she does.
And just like that I see the quilted footstools before me 😂 you have a way with words Kate ❤️ from Holland 💃🏻 🤩
Try a tbsp of car to in water each day don't do if diabetic do each night you should notice a dif

yes i remember Tony Hart, i sent a picture i had drawn in and it got shown, it was a pencil drawing of a windmill in the countryside, unfortunately they didnt send them back, but it was quite the honour to have a picture shown on there, thank you , i had forgotten about that x
Beautiful quilt, Kate! Love Kaffe fabrics!!💜💜💜
Hi Kate, I love your videos, could listen to you for hours! Also love seeing the cats!🐾💜
I'v read somewhere that Tom Hanks and Mr. Rogers are actually related....something like 6th cousin or so.
I. M. That’s cool. It probably made it more meaningful to Tom Hanks to play him then. I forgot I was watching TH during the movie. He really became Mr. Rogers.
What a delightful detail!
It’s also been stated that Tom Hanks is a distant relative of Abe Lincoln. He has some good ancestors.
Congratulations on your website 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 loving Kafe Faccett fabrics
See you soon 🥰
Lovely rose fabric squares in the quilt you are making!
Thanks Kate, I e Kaffe Fassett range in your quilt. It is different from his usual bright colours. I enjoyed the chat.
Congratulations Kate! You are my favorite person to watch and I love how easy you make it look! From southern Ohio...❤️😃
It was great seeing you today Miss Kate. Your looks lovey. Glad to see you’re in a chipper mood regarding your crafty projects. Love ya 🌹
What a lovely quilt you’re working on! I love all the beautiful greys :)
So happy you have a website where all is in one place AND a notice for new products
Dear Kate,
Congratulations on your wonderful new website.
I think the whole family worked there. It is just wonderful.
Now I will watch your new video in peace.
Lovely wishes
Claudia
Watched Mr. Rogers Neighborhood every weekday at 3:00pm with my two very young children (about 35 years ago or so). We loved it!
I am listening/watching you while crocheting. I can't yell at you for stopping...as when when you remind yourself to keep working..it reminds me. 😁
So glad you saw this
I was fortunate enough to grow up with Mr. Rogers, and I must say you are the next best thing to Mr. Rogers.I love your chats!
Thank you Kate for this lovely chat on the sofa.
Succes with you're quilt!
I mist sweet old Norma!
Greatings from the Netherlands as always see you next time 🏡😻🙋♀️💟
Yes I and my children watched it. Another was Romper Room. Bozo the clown . And one of my fav Captain Kangaroo.
Those were the best of times for our two over 50 years old kids. They watched Mrs Rogers and fondly called Captain Kangaroo, "Capn Roo". So happy that Tom Hanks brought back those pleasant memories.
i remember waiting until Grandfather clock said it was 8:30 then I left for school, because Captain Kangaroo was live on TV in NY USA
melanie nicholson Sandra from romper room has a TH-cam! Life Over Sixty with Sandra
Look up OwlKitty on Instagram or Facebook if you need to laugh. She will tickle your funny bone🤣
I too was thinking of Romper Room and Captain Kangaroo. I loved the books he read. I especially remember The Five Chinese Brathers and Mike Mulligan and the Steamshovel.
Kate I loved Johnny Morris and I remember with much fondness watching with my Mum! Thank you for a wonderful memory!♥️
Hello Kate... Looking forward to more book binding... Glad to see you in good health. Smooth the cats for me!! Have a great week.
Found you from Vivi's channel. I am also owned by 2 cats and look forward to your peaceful creativity.
I love you Kate ... you always say the cutest things
I’ve just joined your sofa and visited your new excellent website! Marvelous! I’ll enjoy your posts as I’m spinning and knitting.
