What's so nice about this channel, is that it actually cares about the viewer's experience when it comes to sponsorship plugs. Many TH-cam content creators have their production costs supplimented by living at home with mom and dad. First time I'm commenting one of your video! As everyone else has said already, this is a brilliant review, and a brilliantly produced video. I loved every single bit of it. The work that was put in the transitions and the physical illustrations (the 3 displays with the mask and the one-shot setup of a living room with people coming in as you review the product) were exceptional, funny and added so much value! The review itself is on point too. No easy trash-talking, just lots of facts put in context and said with lots of subtlety and appreciation. Well done folks 👏
The time spent on this review is amazing. Showing multiple ways to how the Vision Pro looks like to regular people like moving tvs around so many times. The commitment to quality you guys have now is amazing.
I was gonna comment 'fix the WiFi!', but then I realized that less-than-ideal WiFi is better for that area. Showing more real-world access is actually a plus.
It an expensive piece of fancy e-waste! The practical use cases is non existent slim. Maybe the best use for this device is to take money from the rich and re-distribute it to the ultra rich while all the normal people just look on and shake their heads. I’ve seen an innumerable amount of tech videos, but they were merely satisfactory. However, the manner in which you’ve constructed this review is genuinely extraordinary. The meticulous process and the content of the video are outstanding. Ordinarily, I refrain from leaving likes or comments on any video, but your video was so compelling that I had to pause and voice my appreciation for your hard work.
Nah, it's the same thing as with the Apple Watch or iPad: to have a dev platform. They will quickly, and quietly, discontinue it, and end support for it not much longer after that.
Yeah and to get developers to develop apps for that eventual device 'Air' version. You're paying to beta test this device right now. It's basically a devkit with a public release.
Honestly I think they know the VR / XR enthusiasts would buy it at pretty much any price point. Whether its $2k or $3500 or $5k it would sell pretty much the same number of units. My configuration of storage and prescription lenses was about $4k. It feels like they're waiting on the community to find all the best use cases for it and buy more time for when they could release a cheaper version that will be more of a consumer headset. The people who bought it now are the guinea pigs, which is what makes it exciting for the enthusiasts anyways.
@@AndrewSouthworth I think it was a wise move to price it so high. It was always going to be an initial test run product that would give them feedback for a later, more useful version. If they'd priced it at a more accessible level, more people in the general public would have bought it, been disappointed, and passed on later models. The price point they set means that most people that bought are in the same category as Linus. Tech nerds that are disappointed, but also excited to see what comes next.
It would be really cool to see a follow-up video in 6mo or a year to see how the app landscape has changed and if developers are beginning to take advantage of the tech.
better to wait for the vision pro with all the feedback taken, UX improvements and all the apps. Maybe on that time you can even use 3rd party controls to play games.
I'm so glad you guys took your time reviewing this. Spatial capture and multi big screen home theatre. Good selling points, just not $4K worth of selling points. Also, it would be better with interface standards rather than locked into the Apple cult...err..."ecosystem".

I am not an anti Apple guy but charging $3,500 to $4,000 is way too much. If they was $350 they would be selling a lot more. How does this change the game with Apple charging so much. Same issue back in the mid 90s when they had good products but way more expensive then a pc competition to allow you to do what? It’s a hard sell.
@@neubauerjosephget lost mate lol. It’s a leading tech, leading tech costs money. Look how much varjo aero costs and you don’t e en have controllers and you have to buy the towers separately. @@neubauerjosephnot to disagree with you there but even other companies charge high prices. There’s new laptops these reviewers are advertising that are leaving out how much certain products cost and they’re like $4000 minimum. Plus there are laptops to which are not as upgradable as a pc and sometimes can get too hot. Laptops are my preferred use but I do see that it overheating can be an issue which is why I prefer bulky laptops whereas the new $4K laptops are very thing that may have better specs, won’t matter if they overheat very often. On top of that, Samsung also has phones equal if not more expensive than Apple iPhones. It’s all becoming the same it’s just Apple is the easiest target
As much as I'd love to have one of these collecting dust on the shelf next to the other VR headsets I've FOMO bought in the past, 3500 bucks is "buy a used car for my kid when he hits 16 in a few years" kinda money, and this thing is little more than an expensive toy that's too heavy for a proper day of work, too limited to be better than a simple trio monitor setup, and too walled in by apple to ever have a proper gaming experience. I was an early VR adopter, but once the shine wears off, it's too much of a hassle. Thanks for rocking the Goggle face marks btw Linus, reminds me of the Quest 1 days, that thing must hurt after a bit!
This video was incredible. The review was really good, but the way information and concepts were conveyed made it a lot more understandable. I feel like this video was a big step ahead in quality.
The existence of these apple goggles, having experienced it firsthand, and publishing a review of it in a journal has convinced me to consider getting the $200 meta quest goggles. Thanks apple, for guiding me to your competitor.
I went from a multi monitor setup back to a single monitor. I don't miss it at all. Multiple monitors didn't add anything for me and I actually found it kind of distracting. To each their own, though.
@@Skrenja I ever only had 2 monitors, but i think for me that's perfect. Many things can need 2 things. Gaming on the main monitor, discord open on the other one. School Project on one monitor, researching on the other one. Youtobe on the one. Group chat on the other one. Remembering what 1 monitor was just seems bad for me. I only paid 20€ for my second monitor. It is 1080p 60hz about 22" old acer one. That's a great cheap upgrade for everyones setup!
@@Skrenja Were they they all the same monitor or did they serve different purposes? I know people who have two or three completely different panels for different stuff.
For $3500 you could get a 4090 and a 7800x3D and still have $1500 left to build the perfect PC. It's just awful value. A Meta Quest is like, $499? Throw that in too, and you have the option of VR with a bleeding edge computer.
A gaming pc is very different from what the vision pro trues to do. Yes the value is very questionable, but a gaming pc can't replace this. The reverse is also true
They're not comparing it between a 500 dollar headset. They're comparing it to ever headset ever which includes 10,000 dollar headsets. Which were cool but had horrible ergonomics, clarity, and tracking problems. These specs wise are the best headset ever made as an all rounder. It just has no usable software.
@@TechnoMinarchist We could have atleast forgiven this because controllers can always be added in the future. But right now its just another horrible thing to add to a product nobody should buy.

I’m sorry, but I think you have missed a really versatile use case for the Vision Pro headset. I travel for work a lot. My home set up is an 80 inch 1080p display mounted on the wall and 2 x 27 inch 4K monitors on my desk plus my 14 inch M3 MacBook Pro screen so I am running a four screen set up all the time. I have to wear glasses to read and I have the big screen on the wall because I do a lot of CAD editing and design work as well as a lot of large spreadsheet work and this is the ideal monitor to do that on. It also allows me to share the content with other members of my team whilst I am at a standing desk. All of this is lost when I travel and I spend probably four days a week on the road. I actively delay doing large scale drawing edits and a lot of my spreadsheet work until I get back to my home office simply because I don’t have the screen real estate to do that. I know this is true for a lot of my colleagues And for a lot of people who like to work on large multi monitor set ups. The Apple Vision Pro allows me to do that on the move whilst only carrying my M3 MacBook. I can now be far more productive whilst I’m out on the road. You are assuming that whoever is using the unit is sat behind a desk at work. That is not the case this is suitable for. It is when I am out on the road and I don’t have all my external monitors, that is when this comes into its own. I can run all of my native apps from my MacBook whilst having Safari in a separate window, my messages in a separate window a movie playing in background in a separate window all running off the headset. It is an amazingly powerful working environment and I think that is where Apple gets the spatial computing naming convention from. As a large scale multi monitor environment for travelling, I really don’t think it could be beaten
I had a chance to try my friends and holy crap my mind was blown. I thought it was dumb until I put it on. Not an Apple fan boy... Im a PC user but holy crap this made me more excited about the future of technology than I have been in a very long time.
Finally, a sane review of this thing. And Linus is exactly right. It IS about convenience. The smartphone took off despite its expense because having something like that in your pocket all the time was a huge improvement in convenience for practically everyone who tried it. Said it before and I'll say it again: AR has more practical value than VR. We live in the real world, and "pass through" is a massively over complicated and expensive solution to a self-imposed problem. Just give me some light weight glasses that can put info from my phone or another input in my FOV without being a huge distraction. I want a HUD, not a device that isolates me in my own little reality.
19:28 Linus said it before with him thinking about looking at a phone screen all day while using the Vision Pro. The downside to avid VR headset use, is that even if there’s an illusionary trick to make it seem like the screen is far away, the screen is actually an inch away from your eyes in an enclosed environment.
My buddy has the VP and he had to mod his head strap within a week due to discomfort. This is a HUGE oversight and this is what I've come to expect from Apple.
The main advertised use case for this reminds me of the early obsession over tablets. Everyone had one. News readers had one, the were being used in supermarket checkouts, people who could just as easily use a notepad had one. 10 years later and I can't remember the last time I saw one in use other than a friend who uses one to read magazines. Same thing with voice assistants on phones. Nobody wants the attention of talking to their people in public. Even at home people in general don't want to talk to their phone. Today it's a forgotten fad. Where tablets got maybe a decade, the idea of sitting in a meeting wearing a headset probably won't get any traction and that selling point won't be mentioned in as little as a year.
Just tried the new Apple Vision Pro and as a PC gamer it has got to be the most mind blowing experience ever. The technology uses, the graphics quality, the sound quality, absolutely amazing. I nearly cried during their immersive video demo. Yes, it's really expensive but boy what an awesome piece of tech.

This sums it up. The apple vision pro is thriving on hype. If it was another tech company it would be seen as a gimmick after one week.
It an expensive piece of fancy e-waste! The practical use cases is non existent slim. Maybe the best use for this device is to take money from the rich and re-distribute it to the ultra rich while all the normal people just look on and shake their heads. As a live audio engineer, I ofter have to set up my work area with limited time and space, and tear everything down a few hours later. Having multiple, virtual screens that don't need to be transported, mounted, and wired up each night sounds like a pretty helpful thing to me.

The true purpose of the Apple Vision Pro is to exist as a 'price anchor' to sell the true product: Apple Vision Air/Core
Yep, will make the Apple Vision "Air" at 999,99 look like a steal
And Apple fixing any shortcomings in software with VisionOS 2.0.
Do you remember Magic Leap? Yeah...

linus saying "tim apple" with a straight face is so funny
Really appreciate the quality of this video and honest review, ty ltt
Good to see that Psycho Mantis turned a new leaf and went into tech @ 18:56
