    Nick Diaz was definitely alive and well at the UFC 158 press conference to promote his welterweight title fight against Georges "Rush" St-Pierre. Diaz, notorious for skipping press conferences and media events, seemed happy to be in Montreal and excited for a fight he's been wanting for years.
    "Nobody had the balls to say anything; I was up there in the rankings and I had the balls to say I want this fight. I was promoting this fight a long time ago".
    Diaz also doesn't believe his foe truly asked for this fight.
    "I don't believe that he asked for this fight", proclaimed the former Strikeforce and WEC champion. "I don't believe it for one second".
    Although it may be early for personal jabs and trash talking, Diaz definitely respects GSP and does not have anything personal against him.
    "I don't have anything to say about him. I like the guy just fine. I don't especially like his fighting style -- he does what he does well."

    Good analogy. You are never ready for a car accident. You can't duplicate a fight in training camp. You can work on cardio and techniques, but bodies collide in the octagon like cars.

    That Diaz vs Silva matchup is eating me up man. Set that shit up Dana

  • @iiwatcher
    @iiwatcher 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I understood him perfectly. yes, he rambles on. He's not known for talking. He's not Chael Sonnen. He doesn't even like doing it, but he's trying. He's known for bringing it every time and ducking no one. I am big fan, but I agree GSP will probably win, unless Diaz has truly realized how necessary it is to alter one's approach to adapt to certain fighters. GSP will play it safe, and dry hump his way to another victory, as always.

  • @undeadpresident
    @undeadpresident 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah I realize Diaz is the underdog but I think he can win and I hope he does. The great thing about MMA is you can't always predict exactly what will happen. Especially with someone like Diaz who may not do a lot of flashy moves but has shown a lot of toughness. A lot of people thought Frank Shamrock would beat Diaz too, but their jaws just dropped when Diaz beat him down.

  • @undeadpresident
    @undeadpresident 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think stylistically this is interesting, GSP with a solid boxing/karate base and the most insane wrestling (especially since he was never a collage or university wrestler ... vs ... Diaz with a super slick boxing style and karate of his own, mixed with the counter style to wrestling in jiu-jitsu - both excellent fighters in their dominant and/or preferred positions and both being basically the Yin to the other's Yang

    To say Diaz beat Condit is to say octagon control is more important than strikes, power strikes, strategy, and physicality. Face it folks-Diaz shoulda grabbed Condit-but he couldnt bc Condit hit/kicked every time he got close. Thats called neatralizing ur oponents strengths. I truly appreciate all his fans blind and unwavering support, but they get way to wrapped up in his tough guy talk. And I personally respect the shit out of his skills.

    Unlike that dude "Wirthquake," I happen to be a fan of both Nick and Georges. That being said, for the sake of accuracy, Nick went about four years after his no-contest with Gomi before he fought reasonably ranked top-10 opponent in Paul Daley.
