    Playmobil is really kicking ass. I can only dream they would make a 1978 Battlestar Galactica line with a Colonial Viper, Cylon Raider and Command Center with figures of all the main cast.

      Great choice! Love the Mad Max idea too! There is loads to cover in that particular universe from Mad Max through MM 2, MM3 Thunderdome, Fury Road, then the game. I'd love a set of Toecutters gang, Mudguts, Cundalini, Johnny The Boy. Another set I'd love to see:
      Buckaroo Banzai! You've got the Jet Car, Buckaroo's tourbus, lectroids, and of course, Buckaroo Banzai and the Hong Kong Cavaliers! , Reno Nevada, Rawhide, Perfect Tommy, New Jersey, John Parker, etc! I'd buy that in a heartbeat! To me Playmobil is way superior to Lego as the vehicles actually LOOK like the proper vehicles, and while the figures are "cartooned" or stylised, you can tell who they're supposed to be. Bigger too. Lego is great for building, and imagination, but I do think they're disappointing when they do pop culture. For pop culture shows, I'd go with Playmobil every time.

    It's so amazing the detail they put into the pieces outside of the car, and even Michael Knight. It's like the creative team says, "Here's what we need... because its cool" and they just go and do it. Instead of being a group of CYA sissies who can't think. Bravo!

    This was perhaps the best Playmobil set I ever purchased. Once I put it all together and watched the light strobe, I said, "This was a good decision." Takes me back to the talking Knight 2000 set I had when I was a kid.

      I felt the same way about their BTTF Delorean when I first saw it. As soon as I saw the price I immediately sought one out. I'm still amazed that not only was the price fair but the quality of their product was top notch. The details are impeccable, theres significant play value/features and the accessories are everything you'd want for a first appearance time machine.

    I genuinely believe that the people who complain about Playmobil are just annoyed that they can’t pass these toys off as collectibles like NECA figures, Star Wars Black series and even those premium Lego sets. They have to admit them as being toys and man are they great toys; I only have the BTTF Time Machine but I’m always eyeing other sets. I know you’ve talked about it before Michael but I wish in the early 00s Playmobil had these licenses because my childhood would’ve improved

    • @KasumiKenshirou

    This car is to scale with the Michael Knight ReAction figure from Super7. I bought an extra set and drilled out the seat cushions and repositioned the seats slightly to accomodate him, and he fits inside *perfectly!*

    • @Canisticus
      @Canisticus ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s exactly what I’m also doing (I do already purchase the ReAction Figure and I’m waiting Playmobil KITT to be delivered) How much craft is needed to make Hoff’s Super7 figure to fit in? 🥹✨

    • @videofox
      @videofox ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Canisticus The key is to make sure he sits flat on the floor of the car to leave enough headroom for the roof. The center console is attached by a tab in the back; I used a screwdriver to push the tab and remove the center console. The seats lift right out. I used a dremel to sand down the supports the seats rest on to make the floor flat, then drilled out the center of the seat "cushions", leaving the sides. His behind and legs fit neatly in the gap. The seats would have to be moved back slightly to make room for his legs. The seats were held down via short pegs on each side, one by a hole in the center console and the other by a notch by the door. I shaved down the inner peg to avoid the hole, or you could possibly widen the hole in the console. Once you have him fit neatly in position, you could choose to glue the seat down. I haven't decided yet as I may keep the chairs removable to make it easier to sit him or even other figures. Now this is how I did it; maybe others have different methods but this worked for me!

    I love the Playmobil stuff. I have most of the Ghostbusters line, including the excellent fire stations, and all of the Back To The Future stuff and all of it is great. What I love the most, though, is the diversity of their lines. As a kid, I loved Western/Cowboy toys, which are almost extinct, these days. Playmobil still issues to odd Western set, and they are some beautiful pieces.
    One of my only toy displays in my home is a set of shelves displaying two magnificently detailed Playmobil stage coaches, and assorted western characters. I can't describe the thrill when the add-ons from the BTTF advent calendar allowed me to plop my DeLorean, along with Doc and Marty, right into the middle of the display.
    I feel like the James Bond license is another one that I would have killed for as a kid, but never got, and it looks like Playmobil is killing it there, as well.

  • @markknight7780
    @markknight7780 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I always loved the way the Playmobil figures looked. When I was a kid I was a fan of the show F-Troop. So my mom bought me the Playmobil old west fort, which was highly detailed. With soilders, Indians, wagons, the whole deal. I had a blast with it. I soon figured out that if you take the headdresses off the yellow and red shirted Indians, and the hats off of the cavalrymen, you had a make-shift Star Trek crew. So when I see the Playmobil Star Trek line, I have to laugh, and think “Wow! I was ahead of the curve”. 🤣

    Here's the thing: if Playmobil were smart, they'd have given KITT more leg room so that you can fit a 4-inch figure into the seat too. As a kid, I used my Kenner Han Solo as my "Michael Knight" and sadly this vehicle won't fit the old Kenner Han (you can sort of fit a super-articulated Hasbro Han if you bend his knees all over the place).
    All they had to do was leave an opening under the steering wheel to allow figures with longer legs, and you'd get even more sales from people wanting to pack KITT with their older/modern Kenner/Hasbro SW figures too. I just hope they realize this when it's time to do the classic Colonial Viper...

I am a MOTU collector, but I have consistently said for decades that PLaymobil made the best toy I ever had--that shuttle. Getting into collecting these new movie / tv tie in sets and I love how genuinely thrilled you are with this Night Rider toy. It's a toy in the best sense of the word. It is great to look at but has PLAY VALUE!!! I think toy collectors have lost PLAY VALUE as a criteria in collecting. I want my kids and grandkids to be able to play with and enjoy something I am collecting. They largely can't do that with my MOTU collection....Playmobil it is.

The blue Beetle made a great Herbie custom that I am very proud of. I can’t wait to see what they do with the General Lee and their version of Herbie. I used blinky bricks lighting to bring my custom Herbie to life, like when He was limping in late in the race at night. I wish their prices weren’t so high for their products, but you are correct. It is the best bang for your buck in toys at present. I even bought the semi play set to custom paint into the night rider semi. It will not be to scale, but it will look amazing painted up. What they did with KITT looked amazing! As far other properties I’d like to see them give this treatment to, I know it won’t happen, and call me crazy, but I wouldn’t mind seeing a line from Jurassic Park done up like this, especially if it meant a proper Visitor Center Playset.

    I had to get this day one. Remember people, you can get K.i.t.t, Michael, Bonnie and Devon for 80 Euro! Right now you can get it for 60 Euro! Sixty!!!
    And people are still defending Hasbro?
    Three Figures, Furniture, Accessories, LIGHTS AND SOUND! Hasbro should be ashamed of themselves!
    I’m from Germany, and Playmobil is one of the things that I am really proud of.

    All toy companies should take note of how Playmobil approach their toy development. They have everything covered, from youthful appeal through to oldie collector desirability- a rare commodity nowadays across all different themes, namely being compatible in so many ways. I love the simplicity of removing the car roof, ( something that Mattel should have done with the Harry Potter Ford Anglia set - they just totally removed it, much to my annoyance!). Your feature was rightly praiseworthy, so why not do a full feature on this amazing company as I'm certain it would be a great hit with your followers.
    You mentioned Lego, now I'm from back in the day when Lego only allowed green bricks to be moulded under special cicumstances due to the fact that the inventors had been in the Resistance in WW2 and were not in favour of colours being used to promote any warlike subjects.
    Well we've come a long way, as your great feature shows, so thanks again.

    Great review Micheal. I just watched the A-team video before this one. I’ve had my eye on the toys but haven’t picked anything up yet. They look so nice and after watching your reviews I’m going to have to get on board. I would love to see them do Magnum P.I. but I’m sure the licensing for the Ferrari would be through the roof. Man would I love to have that on my shelf. Thanks again for the great review. I hope to see you guys and Tony at ValaCon. It was nice to briefly meet y’all last year. Have a great day.

    This is a great set, I was given the Knight Rider, A-team and Delorian for my birthday last year…. There all absolutely brilliant…. There such great toys at a really good price. I don’t recall the Kenner talking car being something that was available in the UK. I had a knight rider wrist racer and the HASBRO stunt set (still have them). I would have loved a large scale K.I.T.T. To play with, so these Playmobil sets for me really do a great job of scratching that itch. My wish would be for a General Lee with confederate flag and all (not gonna happen now).These Michael are some of my favourite videos, thank you👍

    I had a Playmobile set in the 1980s so it is a nostalgic property. They didn't have a lot of licensed properties back then so they're making up for it now. As for the removable top, KITT did become a convertible in the final season so you can recreate that. :)

    Have you seen the Diamond Select 1:18 one, from 2014, Michael? It has the same back & forth, moving LED light effect in the front, with the show-correct "Wooh-wooh" sound effect; an LED, light-up interior and has the voice, as well. It fits 3.75" figures and has opening doors, etc. Only mentioning, as from your reaction to this, you may not have known about that one. The Diamond Select is pretty much the definitive KITT toy, for my taste. This one is great for Playmobil, of course, but if you want one that does all of this (and more) in the 1:18 size, I highly recommend it. It sells for about $150 - $175, these days, but it's absolutely worth it to have a genuine 1:18 K.I.T.T. It's like having a Kenner that did everything we wanted it to, in '83.

    Hopefully this will allow Playmobil to finally consider making a toy car and figures based on the characters and the Viper Defender car itself from the 90’s TV series: *Viper*
    Modern toys especially plastic to die cast toy cars based on the Viper Defender is long overdue and it’s about time that we get something based on Viper that isn’t the small cars and/or the extremely rare RC cars by Tyco.

    Question, what is the scale of the actual car? I have a few 1:24 and 1:32 cars so want to see how it scales. I can't find the number on the box on Amazon.

    Playmobil is really knocking it out of the park lately. The uplcoming Klingon Bird of Prey is really tempting. There are SO many properties they could do. I'd love to see Big Trouble in Little China or.. The Last Starfighter - I'd buy a playmobil Gunstar in a heartbeat. :P

    I don't remember seeing many Knight Rider toys, when I was growing up in the UK in the 1980s. But I remember intensely disliking toys of KITT that had his name printed on the side. KITT didn't have that in the show, so I didn't want it on the toys. And I never pestered my parents for Knight Rider toys. It's great that Playmobil has got for an authentic look but still made it compatible with its action figures. I suspect that this set has enough cool features to make it a toy that kids can enjoy without knowing the TV show. At the same time, adult collectors will buy it for the nostalgia.

    Very nice and fun looking playset, being a Knight Rider fan myself, born in the 70's, growing up in the 80's :)
    First time I've seen Devon Miles and Bonnie Barstow figurines in any form. KITT's talking features make this set very tempting, as it's not very common even in modern accurate scale models, like Hotwheels 1/18 scale diecast KITT model.
    I recall Hitari made KITT model with talking feature around 10+ years ago..
    There was supposed to be Hotwheels Super Elite KITT model with lights and sounds, but that officially never happened. I've seen some at ebay, but have read they are some kind of non-official products.
    At least the 1/18 scale KITT and KARR models have the scanner light feature.

    I've been on the fence with this (its 60 pounds in England), I grew up with Playmobil. Still have a bunch of the space stuff in the attic, bin lorry, old school soldiers and horses and more recently I bought the BTTF Delorean. Great video and review. Just ordered one of Amazon
