I just lost my sister 6 weeks ago and she was such a believer in GOD all her life. This is a song I'm sure she heard and loved but we never heard it together. My condolences to you and your family Tyler. I have 7 sisters left and it's hard when 1 passes.
I am an Atheist but there is something about Gospel songs that is irresistible, especially when they are sung by someone with the voice of an angel, but this proves Angels aren't real, otherwise Allison would have Wings!

The only instrument is the voice. REAL voices. Beautiful!! As an aside, please notice Alison's humility at the end. She has one of the great voices of her time, yet she defers to her backing singers, understanding what it is all about.
Her voice is as smooth as butter. Gives me chills. So unfortunate she’s a dying breed. They don’t make them like her anymore. Kacey Musgraves would be the only voice I can think of similar to Allison’s.

I was shocked when John Hartford appeared at the end, and 'Drunken Presbyterian' was cut short. John was a master of the fiddle and setting the mood. He really augmented the song and chorus. I got to play with him once, at a city festival. What a great man! But a half hour before he was to go on, he went off into a corner and got his head ready for the show. The sign of a real pro.
Oldie but goodie. Some lost gems on the Holla. Got a journal from 1800 with seven songs to sing at the time. Not a muscian but harmony and lyrics judt just beautiful as this. Love to pass it on to serious group as these folks

Please elaborate on that statement. I have met Miss Alison a couple of times over the last few years, and I haven't seen any signs of a problem. If I had to say anything about her it would be that I think she is lonely, living on the road so much. But that's just my opinion and doesn't mean anything.
They changed a single word so it would fit the Oh Brother where art there scene.The original song is down in the Valley to pray but it was changed to River.

God her voice is a gift from heaven. She's one vocalist who doesn't need any equipment to sound great. She's naturally talented.
