You asked about the tires with big rims. I read this -- "Bigger wheels might look better and allow for larger brakes, but they negatively impact ride and handling, they're more expensive, and they sap energy efficiency." -- I have a spinal issue that can't be jarred. I have to buy tires with higher sidewalls to give the smooth ride I need. 🙂 Soft tires cost more, though, and are less fuel efficient.
That part of the road I am very comfortable with. All you need to do is use engine braking, and it will very nicely keep the speed under control without heating up the brakes. I just use the brakes on a few corners to get the speed a bit lower when it feels too fast. If you want sketchy, I get a bit nervous on that hill at the 3:40 mark. The car really likes to fly down that. It says 15 MPH speed limit, but even with trying to slow down, I still end up flying down at like 50 MPH. It's absurd! I avoid the hill normally, but I wanted to show it on video. It's an insane hill!
Congratulations! You have probably watched one of the longest videos on TH-cam at this point. Thanks for sticking around! The car does indeed drink very little gasoline. The key is to not really rev it much. Try to keep it under 2,000 RPM if possible.
@@extralock1045 😆Nope. Remember, some of SuperSight's are 8-10 hours. I'm breaking this one up into half hour segments. I enjoy them. I'm usually doing something while I watch, like lately I've been cutting up papers for an art project with the iPad right beside me.
I would like to go there someday. I've been to Palomar three times and every time it's past 2:00 p.m. which is when they closed. I think it's like $5 to get in. But they closed the gates and everything every time I am there because they are closed.
@@extralock1045 Well enough. He loves the area. I wish I could drive far enough to go see him. My physical limitations prevent it. Ah well. He loves fishing and goes out every chance he gets -- Gulf fishing.
BTW im not sure if your aware but these cars are great little cars. But their failure point is the CVT. Just be sure to maintain the CVT and you should be fine. I commented on this video cuz its your most recent. Hope you see this.
Yes, I do make sure to change everything early, very early! I change the engine oil roughly every 3,500-4,000 miles. Aim for 3,750 miles. New filter of coarse. I been using the Wix filter, though I get a low oil pressure rattle when I start the car, but with the Mobile 1 filter I don't, so next time I change oil, I'll get another Mobile 1 filter. After using the Mobile 1 filter, I went back to Wix, and notice a lot more rattling. Also at 16,000 miles, I changed the CVT fluid, as well as the pan filter, and cartridge filter. I also replaced the pan gasket, cleaned the magnets, and replaced the cartridge filter housing gasket. Probably could have re-used the gaskets.
@lynnstillwell2 It's been over 3 dollars a gallon here in CALIFORNIA, for I don't know how long. 100 dollars a week in gas is nothing. I get 13 city and about 15 freeways in SoCal with my 14 Challenger R/T Classic. When I bought it new 60 bucks a week was normal.
I don't get honked at often. I pull off the road to let people by. I don't see why I'd be hated, I do what I'm supposed to when going slow. (: On the interstate, stay to the far right, unless you need to be to the left to merge onto another freeway. In the city, if you drive in the right lane, people get mad because of right on red, so I tend to stay in the middle. On 2 lane mountain roads, if I see anyone coming up behind me, I take a turn out as soon as I can. If it's a 2 lane road that is very busy, I tend to avoid them. I don't like so much on-coming cars, as well as behind me. Ortega Highway is one of those roads. High speed bumper to bumper traffic each way, also statistically one of the least safe roads in California.
I love all the trees!
Same! Trees are green, and if I'm not mistaking, green helps with mental stuff. So living in a green area is best. Not the desert. (: 🎄🎄🌴🌴🌳🌳🌲🌲
Wow. Four hours. It's gonna take me a while to get through this one, a bit every day. 🙂
Yes, it's a very long one! (:
You did well at the roundabout. We have a lot of those here in Georgia.
I don't like two-lane roundabouts which are larger -- still one-way circles. I get nervous having to change lanes in them.
Thanks!
