I have a real soft spot in my heart for monochromatic paintings. Well done! I really liked the addition of details and the final soft wash to tie it all together.

Quite a lovely painting and good lesson.
Thank you 😊
so nice. especially the gradual and patient layering shows how much trust you had in the process. This trust is very important in bringing out such a class act. I too rubbed off some of this trust on me after seeing this.
Thank you 😊

Thank you Susan 😀
Gorgeous👏
Thank you 😊
LOVELY!
Thank you
It looks so easy. I tried... not exactly this, it turned out ok... as a beginner... and even if I don't get it this good (far away from that) the watercolor seems very forgiving for a guy like me that can't draw. And I have gotten some pictures I like looking at afterwords... one color is helpful. Think I gonna try following this video. Nice inspiration and a bit "pep-talk" feel over it.😅 Thank you for the video. 😃
Thank you Martin. I hope you enjoy painting in one colour some thing like this.
Nice
so helpful Karen. my teacher talks about "volume" and "values" to get depth. I understand better the concept of tonal values. not so much volume
Wonderful! I would love to see what you would do to this photo if you decided to paint it in color! Perhaps with the sun rising at the focal point! Or like you said maybe painting it in a yellow ochre type of scheme! Thank you so much!!
yes, definitely. I know lots of people have problems when it comes to values in colour. Easier to see with one.
Thank you Donna! It would be very interesting in colour!
Hello mam beautiful painting👌.
Thank you 😊
This is the same tutorial as on 22nd August last year.....only with your voice over! ☺️
Well
Spotted Cheryl 😀
II really enjoyed watching and learning from this video. You conveyed quite a bit on how to do this successfully. I am wondering just how far one can take this layering before it all turns to mud. I am assuming one must let each layer dry completely before going to the next layering. I will give this a try. In fact, I think I will give it more than one try as I am certain I will need to practice this before I get it correct. Thank you
Thank you Robert! You may find this tutorial helpful:th-cam.com/video/Uzw7RBZnuSw/w-d-xo.html
you have strong hands I had to cut my "scrubber" could not tear it
Hi Karen, I was so inspired by the moody quality of your painting and the initial photo that I had to give this a go! I’m almost finished (still struggling to define foreground man) but I have a question. Is a granular paint risky as a final wash? I’m using warm sepia.
Thank you so much Debbie, so pleased you were inspired to paint this. It is tricky to answer your question, I would not like to give you the wrong advice without seeing your painting. Maybe try a small sketch and try it out 😊
love this effect karen / what colours can i mix to get paynes grey
Thank you Steve. You can mix Ultramarine with Burnt Sienna 😊
I love the look of monochrome. So afraid to try... Think I need to just jump into the deep end....
Don’t be afraid you can do it 👏👏👏👍😊
Go for it Kathy!
It’s one less factor to deal with, Kathy. Much easier to practice values without all the colour decisions!
Waah
Where can I find your drawings
