Thank you so much!
I think the reason others may not think to do this is because most people (it seems) prefer bright unnatural "pure" colors. This is very beautiful and subdued, and exactly the kind of look I am attracted to. Wonderful technique, I especially love the moss!
Yes about the pure colors, we have similar tastes then, I love the slightly dark, mysterious atmospheres.
Wow! Gorgeous artwork! Do you actually use the lighter water-soluble graphite pencils much? I find myself just using the darkest ones.
Same, mostly the darkest ones 🙂
I disagree with your statement that bright colors are unnatural, it seems a little shallow to me to think that way. Look at a field of wild flowers, how are those bright colors ‘unnatural’? Just because it isn’t your taste, it doesn’t mean that it is unnatural. I like subdued, bright, mystic, it just all depends on what the artwork is about.
❤love the effects you achieved, will buy these pencils.I am inspired thank you!
This method is quite spectacular. It adds so much depth and feel. Thank you for sharing!!
You're welcome🙂
Those really helped with the contrast of the scene
You should definitely make more videos featuring the water soluble graphite. And also show more footage of the final piece at the end of the video! Thanks, that was a great painting
Well noted, thank you!
I was happy to see you using this technique! I have seen it being used before and I love your painted results!! I look forward to watching more videos making use of the water soluble graphite.
Thank you Maria!
Combining graphite with any media is not new, but you did a lovely job of it. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Yes i imagine other people have tried it before but it's so underrated, I'm glad to have come accross experimenting this way 🙂
Wonderful work pushing and exploring the potential of watercolor pencils!
Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Steven! I hope to find more ways to use them!
I recently started using the pencils you just highlighted - I've had them for years and just started using them as a light sketch tool and was discovering some of the same benefits you talked about. I totally love your piece with the bird and how you used the pencils. This is a game changer! Thank you.
You're welcome ! I'm glad to know others enjoy these tools,.thank you for sharing 🙂
Oh just wow.
Wow! Gorgeous painting Françoise. I'd love to see a tutorial using these pencils. 😍
Thank you Anabela🙂
Me too! I have those pencils but didn't know anything about them.
Great tip to enhance watercolor paintings ❤
This is definitely something new to learn. Thanks a lot for showing this. Fantastic artwork.

So beautiful thank you for sharing
You're welcome 🙂
I got a tin and a half pan with graphite and used them in watercolours. Darks and depths look fantastic with them.
Yes, I found a tube like this and can't wait to try it 🙂
Wow! So atmospheric. LOVE IT❤
I'm glad you love the atmosphere 🙂
Stunning😍 I'd love to see more of this and know how much water you added to the graphite at the end. I will be signing up for patreon as I love your style, just waiting for a few more landscapey & nature type projects🍄🌱🐦🌄🏞️
They will be coming 🙂
Wow, what a beautiful painting! I will need to give this a try.
I'm glad this inspired you to do so 🙂
Wow! What an awesome effect. I've had some water soluble graphite for years and really couldn't find a way to use it that I liked. I like the texture of it but I kept mixing it with my watercolor, making things muddy. Your technique lets that vintage subtle texture of the graphite shine. Gonna give this a try.
I'd love to see more tutorials with these. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Sandy for letting me know, I'm glad this was helpful for your own pencils 🙂
This looks amazing 😍😍😍! Yes, please more of that 😁😁😁!

I have these pencils and love them! I'm planning on drawing and painting a rose from my garden with them. Hadn't thought of adding watercolor with them. I may test it out!
I hope you'll have fun!

Thank you Connie!

Thank you 😊
Wow, I love this more than just a regular pencil, thanks for sharing!
You're welcome 🙂
Françoise, I'm intrigued because I feel sure you do this normally, but you didn't here....
Gently rolling (not rubbing) a putty rubber (kneadable eraser) over the initial drawing will take off the excess graphite, leaving just a very light, but still visible sketch. Soften the putty rubber into a sausage and roll it gently with the rounded part of your palm (the mound under the thumb).
If it's a large area, the eraser will get grubby, so stretch and re-roll the eraser to make a clean part and continue. This way, there's no excess graphite to move and make a mess when going over it with water or paint. 😊
Thank you Barney, I have a few of those kneaded erasers and don't use them often, they're nice though!
Edited to re-type a lost first sentence!!!
@@paintingandchocolate I edited my post slightly, just before you replied... 😊

I've been using these for over a year now. I love the.
They’re awesome 🙂
Recently I began incorporating black ink pens (Sharpie ultra fine point) into my watercolor paintings and I am really loving the results, but I haven't tried this technique. That's what I love about watercolor....it's the most fluid medium I've ever worked in and is so accommodating on so many levels. Thank you for sharing this.
You're welcome, and thank you for sharing about the sharpie!
Beautiful
Thank you !
I enjoyed this video and your painting is beautiful! It reminded me that I can use the watercolor pencils for details as I usually forget about this option. Yes, I would like to see more illustrations and ideas. Thank you so much!
