    Evelyn was the reincarnation of the Pharaoh's daughter. Remember in the 1st movie Evelyn mentioned that her mother was Egyptian so there's that sort-off connection. Meela is the "physical" reincarnation of the Pharaoh's mistress Anck-su-namun.

      @aleaanderson6600 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yeah, and the sort of sad, envious last look he gives Rick and Evy since they represent all Imhotep ever really wanted. For Anck-Su-Namun to leave him to die like that after the hell he went through for loving her and trying to bring her back, he just lost the will to live. In the end, Imhotep was a tragic monster who didn't even ask to be one.

    One thing to know the "Real" Anubis would have never made Deals with Mortals he was actually a very good neutral god like Hades however unlike Hades it is very easy to make Anubis a villain but in Mythology he is a Neutral judge.

      Are you sure he didn't could not have been involved here?
      He could have allowed for Nefertiri and Anck-su-namun to be reborn.
      If Anck-su-namun had helped Imhotep at the end the way Evelyn helped Rick, they could have lived a good, if mortal, life. His cult still has the treasures of Hamunaptra after all.
      Had they truly changed, they could have done a lot of good in the world and still lived like a Pharao. And in the end Anubis might have judged their souls worthy of the afterlife.
      The Scorpion King just came along and Anubis could have left him in that chamber forever if he never needed him.
      That's how I like to see this anyway.

    • @jonathancunningham8739
      @jonathancunningham8739 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Dreamfox-df6bg The thing with the Egyptian after life is it has a Hell of shorts if I remember correctly your soul would be erased from existence (Your heart is consumed by the giant snake god Wenut AKA Wenet) the gods most likely used Anck-Su-Namun's reincarnated self to lure Imhotep to his true death to truly be cast to their "Hell" and I agree with your cult idea it is true if only they changed they could have done a lot of good along with the Scorpion King being as well.

    I’ve watched this movie since I was 4 cuz my dad would play it on his TV and both the first and second movie never cease to amaze me. It’s funny how the older I got, the more I understood the plot and why Evie had those visions. For those who still may not get it, she’s basically Nefetiri, reincarnated.

  • @KuniiMatsu

    With a lot of these movies the CG was designed to look good on standard definition TVs. When they clear them up and remaster them it makes them look worse because it wasn't designed and tested on HD screens.

    I also love these cheesy adventure movies and wish there were more like it with the same quality. Saw all of them at the cinema and they really do feel more epic on the larger screen with booming surround sound. The Corridor Crew re-did the CGI on the Scorpion King's entrance, and made it more "realistic"/believable for todays standards.

    As a mindless action movie set in Egypt, I loved the hell out of this, maybe more so than the first. Even the shoddy CGI doesn't stop me.
    However, I can't help but sigh whenever a movie casts Anubis as the "evil Egyptian god" purely because he's linked to the afterlife. I can't recall any of them being classed as actually evil, but Set has always been right there as the god of chaos and, if I recall correctly, was associated with barren deserts and storms.

    Overall this is my fave Mummy movie, rewatched it so many times on VCD growing up. I like how they just expanded stuff and made everything bigger in this one, going all out here. And having Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz back, this time as the cool badass couple that kicks ass and are still mad in love. Plus I love Alex who is a combo of both his parents. Oh and giving Ardeth Bay a larger role here, excellent. Action adventure movies back then were somehow more enjoyable and fun, you can't replicate the magic that the 2000's had. Also this was The Rock's movie debut. His CGI moment was off but it doesn't take away the thrill adventurous ride that this movie had. I hope you'll react to other Brendan Fraser movies like George of the Jungle and Blast from the Past. This guy is one of my childhood heroes.

    1:50 No, The Mummy Returns has nothing to do with Scorpion King. Because Scorpion King was always and specially, after the first Scorpion King film, a man who would lay down his life for anyone, so it's stupid that, as a nice person, he would take the deal with Anubis, it's actually a little wierd alternative story of Scorpion King. Otherwise, The Mummy Returns and The Mummy 3 is my absolutely favorite in the whole series, the only thing I hate is how they made the character of Scorpion King here, because he was never evil.

    One thing I’ve always wondered is that the incantation that Alex uses to revive his mom, is it the same spelled it was used to wake Imhotep or is it different because she had just died and not been dead for so long. 📖🪄🤔

      Different spell for sure. They say both spells out loud, so it's easy to tell, lol.

    The god of Evil in Egyptian mitología is Seti, brother and assassin of Osiris. Anubis only guided the somos of dead people to their judges. He wasn't evil.

    It seems to me that even in the year in which the film was released, it was cringy to watch the semi-CGI Rock.

    Great movie. You can skip the third one it is horrible. The remake is decent but more horror oriented with Tom Cruise. You should also check Prince of Persia 2010. Fyi They turned the Scorpion King to a good guy in his own spinoff movie they made after this movie. Also other great Brando Fraser movies are Blast from the past and School Ties.

    So many glaring inaccuracies in this…. Sai were invented in the Orient and not 5000 years ago in Egypt. Anubis was revered, not a dark god. It’s just a mindless action movie.

    The CGI sucked, but the movie is great. The place he nearly fell into is hell/the underworld. Arnold Vosloo the actor who plays Imhotep, is South African and threw in a few Afrikaans words for us South Africans to chuckle at!

    Very bad special effects I admit but it does have it's moments and that is why Rachel isn't in the third one and was replaced cause this one did so badly. I liked this movie though and the past life aspact of it was something I liked as well.
    If you love Rachel check out The grate and powerful Oz which takes place before Dorthy or on the more serious notes and based on true stories there is Denial and The Whistle Blower...also she was good in the movie Dream House and that is where she first fell in love with Daniel Craige.
