    Amazing that you found a much higher quality replacement part that fit perfectly. It just shows what happens when you let another country take over the quality control of your company.

    I too repaired my saw with Grizzly parts and it works great.
    Never drill holes in the wheels of band saws to balance them. Always balance the wheels like an auto tire. You can always add or subtract weight to the wheels using small weights with adhesive on the back side. But once you start drilling holes to remove weight, you can never go back if you mess things up.

    I just found that Grizzly parts work too! Mine broke on the triangular part of the hinge where yours did not. Thank you for the information.

      Adam Stewart That’s awesome that you found a part that would work. Could you please share it on this post so others can see it as well? You know stuff like the part number and what saw it was really designed for. Thanks

      Hey Mark. The part no. from Grizzly is PO555035. It was for Grizzly's 14" 1HP saw. I found a forum that said it fits Delta, Ridgid, Grizzly and a few others. Same part, different/better materials depending on the price point of the tool. To remove my pins on the side of the hinge, I drilled a small pilot hole in the end of them and then used a stripped bolt back out tool to work them out with a little WD-40. Doing this did no damage to the square part of the assembly. The part I needed for the hinge was under $10, a couple trunnions clamps for the table was just at $5, and shipping was another $10. Hope this helps.

      Adam Stewart looks like the entire assembly is part P0555035A... took me about an hour to finally find it on their website after going thru the parts diagram. Ordering now.

    Did you install the hinge upside down? Looks like that's going to cause some problems

    • @billrisjr
      @billrisjr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      At 1:35 you show the old one in the correct orientation. Then later in the video you show your fix upside down. The way you have it installed means your alignment knob does absolutely nothing

    Mark, thank you! You just saved me a ton of money. How does the Porter part feel relative to the Ridgid one? I'm wondering if buying two would be a worthy investment.

      G00dapolloIv Thanks I’m glad this video was helpful. The porter cable part does feel of higher-quality. Ever since I replaced the part my bandsaw has been running great with no issues.

    Hi is the top wheel supposed to shake foward and backward if it has no blade on?

    • @markdmaker3173
      @markdmaker3173  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes without the tension on the blade it’s very loose. Check out videos from Alex Snodgrass. He works for Craig accessories and is very knowledgeable about band saws And how to set them up properly.

    Are you saying that gluing the originsl rubber was better than the urethane?

    • @markdmaker3173
      @markdmaker3173  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delayed response. Alex Snodgrass is the top guru of bandsaw’s and accessories. While attending one of his seminars at a wood show he said that if the bandsaw comes with a rubber wheel stick with it do not change to urethane wheel. Here’s the thing. He sells urethane wheels.

    Hey mark how exactly can you tell the original part is broken without taking apart?

    • @scoop5546
      @scoop5546 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Will you see the break lines before you take it apart is what I mean , my apologies

    • @markdmaker3173
      @markdmaker3173  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can be subtle when they break. They are made of cast aluminum so it doesn’t take much. Mine broke as I was putting tension on the blade and it was catastrophic failure. It just fell apart.

    @mark where did you get the riser block at? Do you have a link?

    • @markdmaker3173

      Online at Home Depot special order.

    Interesting, that part is mounted 180 degrees different on the Delta bandsaw that looks like the exact same design.

    Where did you buy the riser block?

    • @markdmaker3173
      @markdmaker3173  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your question. I bought it through Home Depot. It was a special order in a kit of several accessories.

    What riser block do you have?

    • @markdmaker3173
      @markdmaker3173  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your question. I bought the riser block in a kit available only through special order at Home Depot design specifically for the rigid 14 inch bandsaw. It was a kit and if I remember correctly around $200.
