There are few things I wouldn't attempt with this saw. It takes up much less space than my table saw yet delivers twice as much punch. I've used it to create slices of wood no thicker than an 1/16th of inch by using the POWERTEC BS900RF Rip Fence. For small shop projects this tool can't be beat.
great video and explanation. One thing I learned from a band saw maniac is that you don't actually want the blade in the center of the top wheel but the deepest part of the gullet to be dead center. So the blade will be just a bit off to the right. This helps keep the blade from wandering in a cut.

I just received a 1942 Sears, Roebuck and Company 12" band-saw from an old woodworking mentor. A very nice hand me down... I spent the day disassembling it and taking care of ancient maintained issues that had gone un-checked perhaps for decades. 4 hours later I'm astonished at what an incredible peace of equipment it truly is. I'll need to make some minor adjustments based upon your video. Again much appreciated. :) oh, and I have to say the older these tools are the better! I had one that was only 5 years old and it was literally junk by comparison. Your saw is a nice piece too. Is it older too or is it simply a high quality machine? Nice...
I would like to say a big thanks for posting this very helpful video.I have just bought a cheap DIY bandsaw here in the UK, and after reading the setup guide I was even more confused than I would have been just guessing lol, but after watching your video, evereything now makes perfect sense, my machines big failing is the ability to be able to see the blade on the wheels ( or rollers ) as this company calls them, so trying to see if they are running true is somewhat difficult but I will do it if it kills me lol, once again big thanks and as a guitar player ( my Martin is worth more than my wife) I'm going to start looking for any videos you post, cheers from Garry from the UK ,

Extremely informative, and well put over in an uncomplicated way. I have a German built machine that I find excellent, and does a good job. However I leant a couple of things from your video thank you.

Thanks mate, I've recently gotten a made in Taiwan Universal 14" bandsaw from 1985 and have been trying to figure out the guides as the newer bandsaws use bearings for the side and back guides. The guides on yours are almost identical to mine, so very helpful video. Cheers

Nothing wrong with block style guides. They actually run quieter than the bearings and do the job.
