Im an atheist, used to be Christian. Faith is considerably interesting so I'll definitely be following this podcast. Won't convert me, but I like hearing all sides of the spectrum.

Thanks for following. I find the social and cultural differences between religious and non-religious sub groups very interesting. Welcome to the channel!

Those who have gone on before most certainly speak volumes of how individuals carried out walking with Jesus in their work and world. Those stories are great reminders of our Lord’s love and they are great encouragers in our daily lives.
Thanks for clearing up your thots on miracles and doctrine. Yes indeed, the King of Glory does heal and he doesn’t heal to support our doctrine but he does act because of who he is and how miracles point to Jesus and true truth. Lately I’ve been thinking about the missionaries who brought the gospel of Jesus to the Pacific Islanders who were mostly cannibals. These folks most certainly experienced miracles that were a witness to the locals of the power and superiority of Jesus. Stories of miracles don’t support what I believe but they do speak to Jesus’ authority and action in daily life.
By the way - did you ever watch the movie “Purgatory?” It is an excellent telling of how Purgatory could happen. Have you seen the “Cabrini” story? I am amazed that the movie did not delve into her prayer and devotion life but they would have lost audience, of course, but I would have enjoyed a bit of her relationship with Jesus.
Anyhow - pressing on into Jesus. Randy

No, but I’ll address this in the next episode. Someone else asked me to explain what I meant by that.

Miracles do clear up doctrine, but there are some doctrines that just require faith. No one has seen God, but miracles testify to his existence. Therefor the first line of the creed is false if miracles don’t happen.
If a miracle happens, then materialism is false and the existence of God is validated. But not all miracles affirm specific doctrines. Sometimes Jesus used miracles to prove he had the power to forgive sins and that he was the Son of God. So miracles are part of confirming a doctrine. If Mary does in fact appear as Catholics claim she did in Fatima, then if the event actually happened it would be evidence that Protestantism needs to incorporate Marian dogmas into their doctrine. Similarly, if someone really does get healed at a revival then that would mean that a cessationist would have to change their view on miracles generally, but they would not necessarily be obligated to join the charismatic movement.
