    Another cracker! Loved the section on the dolphins too. Keep that sand out of those sensitive areas Daniel! 👍👍😀

      Oh yes, way too delicate places where these sand grains creep… 😎

    Another great video, great idea to use beach for runway, no tarmac required!

      As long as you can be flexible on flight times… 😂

    That is a very unique airport! Most pilots are probably not used to think in terms of tide tables... also sand is coarse and rough and irritating- and it gets everywhere... you are not the first one to notice that.

    Dolphins 🎉
    Daniel, if you take your shoes and socks of, you will only have sand between your toes😉. And living in Switzerland that seems to be a most enjoyable feeling….

      @sailingpolaris  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mind you, the sand is 10°C… this is not the Med… and sticky, cold and wet sand between the toes is HORRIBLE… 😂

      Ups sorry I have to be respectful 🫡. I totally agree with you and still think sand between my toes is funny 😁

    Wondergul, Daniel, as always. I am following your trip.
    In a week I hope I can start mine: Antwerp to the Mediterranean, 4000 miles.
    Fair winds

    I enjoyed this video very much as I was in Barra a few weeks after you. It took me three goes to get onto the finger berth! Cross wind and I wanted the blowing off side for a few days without the squeak of squashed fender.
    I agree about the cost of mooring balls, however I would like to add that so many have been added to anchorage areas that anchoring is almost becoming restricted due remaining space, forcing yachtsmen towards the moorings and the fees. However having said that in a blow I do sleep better on a mooring ball.
    Fair winds my friends, but maybe not from the stern!

      Thanks Keith! Perhaps in such places we should just start to pay what we think it‘s worth, not what is asked…? Fair winds to you too!

    hi guys, enjoy your videos can you please explain the reasons behind your comment of Polaris not handling or sailing to well down wind,,I see you will be meeting up with adventure now shortly have a good trip rob nz.

      Hi Rob
      Thanks for watching and for your comment.
      The reason for Polaris is not sailing well with the wind from more than ca 150°, and sails best downwind on about 135-140° in my my eyes, has two reasons: either we need to learn how to 😂 or its a design thing:
      we have swept back spreaders which limit how far the boom can be let out before the main starts chafing on the shrouds;
      we have no pole to pole out the genoa (could be added), so, goose-winging is difficult, particularly when there is some swell;
      the genoa track is fitted well inside which is great for upwind performance but limits the angle of attack on the foot of the sail on a downwind course;
      being a liveaboard boat Polaris is very heavy. She needs some wind to move.
      We have an asymmetric cruising chute which as well, is not ideal dead downwind. And with its 150sqm it‘s a handful to manage for the two of us…
      If you have some tips we‘d be most grateful to hear them!!
