Drop Shot Rigging Jigging - The T-Drop and Flexi-Jig Winning Combo

  • Hello folks, we're out fishing saltwater again this week. Today we're fishing sunny calm waters, and using a teaser and flexi-jig combo with soft plastics to help entice these fish.
    T-Drop's are available here: store.thundermi...
    On calmer days it helps to fish with a more finesse approach. Keeping that in mind, we're geared up with the new t-drop inline teaser rigs and put a soft plastic on it, and ended our lines with a flexi-jig, also baited with a soft plastic.
    We had a slow drift, so were able to cast out pretty far. Since we were casting out and jigging, we used braided line. This helped us maintain tight control over our lines.
    It was an incredible successful day, as you'll be able to see right away!

    I'm from the midwest. I go home twice a year to bass fish for about a month with my friend. I've lived in the Caribbean for 30 years now and never thought about fishing from the shore (I'm like Antonio) until recently. I decided to get some gear here and try some shore fishing. I started researching on the web and found I could use some of the plastics I use for bass. I never thought that would work in salt water. I see now in your vid it is possible to have a great fishing day with plastics. I start tomorrow. Thanks for the inspiration.

    Hello Ivo, first of all i would like to apologize for my late reply to Tyler in the question he made me the other day the series for cat fish.
    I felt bad when I saw that you had to reply to him even though he ask me for the spot. As a angler that could give a hand to another fella and felt that I disappointed it him for replying so late as we both shares the same state and passion for the sport. But I did reply and gave the spots I have gotten the best bitebin the north area that is where I live.
    Now this new episode i got to tell you congratulations in the T DROP. Im sure soon enough will be getting some plastic worms to drop off for some bass. It really is the best design I have seen so far in the market regarding the tangle free factor. It no matter in which application is used as three way swivel, T drop or T teaser it does the trick.
    I kind of wonder if it will be doing the trick for flounder just as the viper spoon with bait? If you now what i mean just the T drop with some bait on it, or for salmon and trout with some eggs and the sinker just as the video where you caught and brown trout in 30 seconds.
    Last question to not make this comment to long, are you planning to do any other miniseries of episodes about other kind of fish as you currently are with the catfish? Or it will be a just for catfish? Im sure carp, bass and pike would be 3 more miniseries lots of fans as me would enjoy very much watching and learning from you. Believe it or not I will speak for my self and Im sure for others anglers as well I always learn something new from you in every episode, a new technic, bait, or way to change it and make it in a series of diversity that makes fishing more than technical challenging so it makes it fun every single time. Outside of the fact that it really does help for every different place and situations that we face when we don't fish the same spot there is a episode basically for every condition a angler can face from a boat to shore fishing conditions. Thanks again for another awesome episode full of tips and fun.
    PS. I will be trying to do the risotto recipe in the next few days i will give you the feed back in the comments under the cooking risotto episode. Greetings to you and your family my friend.

      Yogisancr Miguel Hi Yogisancr and thanks for taking time to write :) That was very nice of you to share the catfish spots to that viewer and I'm sure he really appreciated that fact that you took time to do that for him :) Part 2 our our catfish special is going to come out next week and we are considering other 3 part specials as well - just not sure when and which species yet, but you touched on the common ones - we are anxious to see how the 3-part catfish special is received by you and our viewers :) Al the best and good fishing Yogisancr

    Wow! When you guys go somewhere on saltwater, how do you know where to fish? Do you get a map, talk to all the folks in the tackle shop to get GPS coordinates, or are they places you go every year and you've just figured it out somehow over time?

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dave Pekala Hi Dave - we look at maps and the related depths and structure - looking for changes in depths or bottom structure (i.e. sand or mud to rock transitions ) and also underwater humps/shoals :)

    • @D3l3ri0us
      @D3l3ri0us 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Do you bring your boat with you, or do you just always rent one with a good set of electronics? Isn't this the only way to see the difference in structure composition? I apologize for all the questions, I'm still learning...

      @thundermistlures  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dave Pekala I trailer my boat with me to the cape cod area and you are right, the fish finder does help define bottom structure, and a map will also show this as well.....and no worries about the questions Dave - I am happy to help and hope you are able to enjoy some great days of fishing :)

    Evo purchase just about everything, Fished with fished in the ocean with your t drop, flexi jig.the biggest issue I have is the hook size. They are huge hooks we generally use a size one or 2. this hook is good for very large fish. Do they make them with smaller hooks? I did catch a couple on the flexi 1/2 once.. How far apart would you place them on your line. Thanks for all your videos.

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Bob Jensen Hi Bob - great to hear from you and I like to keep about 2 1/2 feet between the flexi Jig and the T-Drop. Regarding sizes, there will be smaller sizes available as well as larger ones also :) However, due to lead times on hooks, most likely won't see any of the smaller sizes till sometime this summer - you will be happy tough as there will be a good variety of sizes.....the ones available now were just the opening line up :)

    Are flexi jigs harder to get out of snags compared to regular jigs? I've never used one before but was thinking of buying one to try

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bagelstorm The key advantage of the flexi jig is you get a positive hook set due to the changing angle - never actually thought about it being easier to get out of snags, but it probably is, just due to the fact that the hook is able to spring down and back up again - thanks for bringing that up :)

    What color and types of lures should be used for stripers on the shore during dusk?

    • @laxusdragneel4121
      @laxusdragneel4121 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Use darker colors like gold, purple, blue, and black. White and yellow are versatile colors as well in most conditions. At dusk and dawn, top water, sp minnows, and soft plastics work great.

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Alexander Stigall Hi Alexander - as Laxus stated, the darker colors are great to use at dusk and any baitfish imitating lure or plastic would be ideal :)

    I like this t-drop. My only problem is that your lures cost too much. Waaaaaaaaaaay too much. For that price, I could get me some seriously premium lures from China or Japan. Just saying. Being honest. If you want reference I can give you some. Just don't ask me. I do know my stuff.

    • @Bryonwoo
      @Bryonwoo 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I constantly go to fishing conventions and the word around those conventions is, thunder most lures are considered one of the best. Most people rank 3-4 in comparison to every lure company. So it would come with a high price. Plus ideas have value, you have to remember that. The engineers at thundermist lure company are geniuses. They are regarded as a high end lure company. Thundermist lures is like the St. Croix of fishing rods. Just Saying.

    • @megasif
      @megasif 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bryonwoo I disagree. I think as far as quality, prob. average. As far as price, high-end. As far as looks, below average or average. I suppose I can name a bunch of better lures but it is not my intention to do so .....unless you really have to know. I tell it like how I see it. I don't like to bs around b/c my integrity lies on what I say and do. St. Croix isn't elite. Only the process of making it is. And only the Legend Extreme is worth your money....don't go buying the original or first generation b/c when it gets frigid cold, the guides will die. Trust me. I do research for fun.

    • @megasif
      @megasif 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you want to know what rods to get, I will point you in the direction of JB Custom Rods, Rieley's, Mr. Carter 's Rods or Carter Custom on here, St. Croix Legend Extreme Inshore, and the world famous Kitsler, the high-end one. I might forget some but yeah. I really like the Endurance from Powell, but that rod is too short and too light. When you get pass a certain lightness, it becomes junk again, if you know what I mean. There's balance in everything. Other than that, I prefer to strip the guides on a Shakespeare Lite, fitting them with premium guides. If you prefer one piece, use ThreadMaster homie. That's the best money can buy. Should you want a regular rod, try an Abu or a Shimano 7'6" Crucial....Well, reels I know too and you gotta get one of those bad ones b/c an Abu Garcia Fierce will break down over about 2 years of intense use on big fish. Trust me.

    • @megasif
      @megasif 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      What is considered the best may not be the best for your application or standards. For examples, it is said that Delta Wood Bomber is legendary, but it looks like it is a short gliding topwater that will dive. And people have claimed it dives. I don't like my topwater to dive unless it is a Maria Loaded. Know what I'm saying? They've also claimed that a Spook works magic on stripers. No it doesn't. Whoever said that is a special character. They also said an Ima Big Stick is deadly on stripers. No it don't. I know b/c I've used it. I gave it back to the owner which I traded something better for it. That's how much I hate it. How can anyone say a Rover is better than a Vixen or Paycheck or vice versa versa? All those lures are the same. They copied each other just like the slash bait that started with XRap. However, I can tell you that a Baker is 10 X better than an XRap. Trust me. I've paved the road with my sweat and blood. BTW, LuckyCraft pointers and Megabass Ito are absolutely junk. Don't believe the hype unless you're slow.

      *****, supposably, but why is that? Or you leave the fish live her own life and you live as a normal vegetarian, or be cruel and catch the fish normally. You guys play with fishes lives, and they have souls and consciousness, they want to live too as you want. You can not be a good man just on a half, do you agree with that? ;)

      +JohnsMedia, so, killing beings means a PUN for you? It is very sad. And excuse me please, but no one is "trolling" here. You can not "troll" or joke about anybody's lives, it is too serious. Please don't hurry up to judge me without awareness and understanding that - killing won't bring happiness.

    • @bernier14
      @bernier14 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Nothern Lights It's catch and release. The fish lives and from what I understand you're a vegan/vegetarian and you should be happy with that, and even if he did keep some there's nothing wrong with that. It's no different than eating anything else the only difference is they're a little more, I don't know how to put this, "alive" you could say.
