I am almost 65 years old and oh how I wish you would have had a blog 40 years ago when my children was growing up, love everything you show or talk about, you are an amazing hard working wife and Mom
Vivian Roberts, I second your positive comments! Your parents must be so proud of you, Lisa! I love how you paid off your house on Boone in under five years!
Do you ever go back through and watch Lisa’s older videos and feel the nostalgia of how long you’ve been following her… Do you ever wish more vloggers were like her?… just me? Okay. 🤓
I’m 21 years old and I just found your channel. My mum started doing some of this stuff (fermenting and bone broth) and I really enjoyed the benefits. I love you style and your videos, I plan on doing the same kind of things when I am married and have children!
I found your channel by doing a search for bone broth in an Instant Pot and I really like your informative videos! If you need ideas at all for other videos, I would love to see more: 1) Instant Pot natural recipes 2) How to ease into a farmhouse type of natural lifestyle for those of us who love the idea but either don’t know where to start or are overwhelmed by all the things we could be doing. 3) Natural soap making
I’ve made bone broth for years and the Instantpot makes it so easy. Just lately I’ve been reducing it to make more room in the freezer. Strain the bones from the broth then put the instant pot on sauté and reduce it down to about a pint then freeze into ice cubes. Takes far less room. When you’re ready to use it just add water to the cube or use the concentrate in sauces.
This is an incredible tutorial. I couldn't even tell the difference between my 3-day roasted bone broth vs. the instant pot bone broth I just tackled in 1 day. The bonus was the cleanup! Thank you for your can-do attitude and the courage to share all these tips. I'm a FOB (farmhouse on boone) addict.
Her directions: Put bones in pot Pour water over bones until it covers bones just slightly. Not too much or else you won’t achieve the gelling. Press ‘soup’ 120 minutes (2 hours), low pressure Repeat 2 more times After 3 cycles, optional but do another 24 hours on warm setting. Strain Add salt if desired Funnel into jars Store in fridge
I just put it on manual, high pressure, and hit the - (minus) button until it says 240 minutes. I'll leave it on warm a full 24 hours after doing 2 cycles, so that works really well and is easier
@@JackBoughson hmmm, did it come to pressure? Or did you leave the vent open? It should never lose any fluid. It should be completely sealed when under pressure.

Yes. drink as much bone broth as you can... 3 to 4 cups per day. I add butter and warm it up! Huge diff in my skin. Tip.. you can also add a tsp or two of Beef Gelitian Powder in each cup for added nutrition. I think they make Chicken Gelatin Powder too
This is the first time I'm hearing of gaps diet. I buy chicken bones and make broth every month and use them in my regular cooking. but i used it only to enhance the flavor of the food, i'm glad i watched this video. Thank you Lisa! God bless you and your family.
@@FarmhouseonBoone Hi Lisa, I have been doing a little research on the gaps diet. If possible can you please do a video on your personal experience with the gaps diet and your personal review on it? If you do not feel comfortable talking about it that's fine I will understand. Thank you.
I"ve been binging your channel while I wrap Christmas gifts. I have been making bone broth for years, but didn't know about the apple cider vinegar. Genius!
We make homemade chicken bone broth using our organic chicken bones/innards/skin too. We add these things to it for added nutritional value; parsley, ginger root, shitake mushrooms and garlic (a prebiotic.) I am still using a crockpot because like the energizer bunny....it just keeps on going! When we were living on the hobby farm, our chickens got all the leftovers after they cooled.
I just made bone broth in the instapot for the first time yesterday but I had not seen your video. I saw someone elses and she said 120 mins under low pressure for soup setting. I was so sad. The broth did not gel and tasted like salt water!! I threw away the bones last night but now I'm thinking, I should have saved them and ran the broth more times like you! The lady also said in the video that it doesnt taste rich like slow cooked bone broth over stove top or slow cooker. That should have been a red flag for me! ugh i'm so sad this morning. I hope my next batch will go better, I'll follow your technique for running it 2 more times and then longer on warm. Although when I opened the instapot yesterday, the warm setting had a beautiful simmer so I wonder if I even need to run it another 2 times.... Btw I did the gaps diet for my son and did it for myself for 6 months.
This is so interesting . To think of all the times I’ve just thrown out bones . I just came from the “ Faith and Flour” channel where she shared a soup recipe using bone broth and she she linked to your channel. My adult son has gut issues and I just sent him your link .
Making my first batch of bone broth in my 3 qt mini instant pot and my maximum time for soup is 4 hours. Was able to fit in 2 chicken carcasses. The chickens were organic rotisserie chickens from my health food store. Thank you for posting this.

What a wonderful wife and mother! Your kindness radiates in these videos! Thank you for making this info available. Would you mind answering a question if you have a moment? I made my first batch of bone broth in the instant pot, using your instructions, but for a total of 12 hours since I used a huge 5 pound beef bone. Most batches of bone broth I’ve seen only have a layer of the gelatinous goop (gel). But my entire gallon is ALL gel after cooling! Is this good/bad? Does that mean it’s more concentrated and I can add water to dilute it? Thank you so much for any help or info that can be provided!
The goal is to have the whole jar of bone broth to be gel-like. Sometimes at the time, there will be a layer of fat you can either use or discard. If your bone broth is jell like, then you should be good to go. The gel-like bone broth will turn into liquid once it is warmed up. I hope that helps! :)
Thank you so much Lisa! That is helpful. I’m looking forward to seeing your channel and success keep growing! You’re doing an excellent job helping others - showing us how simple it can be to stay healthy. Hope you and your family have a wonderful day!

Tam writes: (Update: I don’t normally add apple cider vinegar anymore. I went to this lecture and afterwards, I decided it wasn’t necessary. Plus, I don’t like the flavor.)"
I've tried it and it works amazing! Thank you so much for sharing 😁 Is there a reason why you put it on low pressure? Wouldn't the high pressure would get the nutrients out even more quickly?
How long will this stay good in the fridge? How long can it be stored in the freezer? Also, why do you do three sessions of 120 min. instead of just setting it for 6 hrs. one time?
Great video. For me personally, the easiest way to make bone broth is to bring your bones and water to the boil (a mix of marrow and joint bones for beef/lamb/venison/pork, or carcass and wings and/or feet for chicken, ensures gelling), bring to a boil, then put on the lowest setting on the smallest burner, so it has only the slightest of bubbles going, for 12hrs. Once strained, add 1tsp salt per litre of broth and you’re done. Any flavours you want to add you can, but you don’t need to. Also, the limited scientific testing that has been done on bone broth concludes that it is very healthy and full of macro nutrients like gelatine, but NOT high in micronutrients like calcium, no matter how much vinegar you add, so I don’t add vinegar because I don’t like the taste in the broth. You don’t need to boil anything endlessly and you don’t need a pressure cooker (unless of course you want to use one). In fact, I have seen arguments that high heat and pressure can change the proteins. But I’m not 100% sure on that fact so wouldn’t dissuade someone based on it alone.
This was a huge concern for me the loss of nutrients and tons of research has shown that pressure cooking does not take away as much as people think. The pressure is higher not the temperature so nutrients stay on tact.
Have just made some bone broth! So easy! I'll see if it gels. One question, most other tutorials say to set it on high pressure, why do you select low pressure?

You don't need to use all that time and energy if you use chicken feet. I use chicken feet (buy them peeled), water, a acv and whatever veg. 1 cycle of 120 minutes on high pressure manual in the instantpot and solid gel.
TheRuby101 ok I’ve totally been wondering about chicken feet, as my friend uses them, and her broth is gel-tastic!

@@amycope12 under soup option mine goes to 4hours.
Can you make bone broth in a crockpot the same way? I would imagine so, but how long would you cook it for?
Like your kitchen👍🏼
I’m really interested in making this, but not in the instant pot. Could you make a video to tell us how you used to do it before you got the instant pot? (Especially how long you let it on the stove?)
You just put bones, veggies, herbs etc into a pot of water or slow cooker and simmer for 24-48 hours.
Do I have to dilute it for soup? Or use it as is. My recipe calls for 5 cups of stock. Thanks :D This was the best video on stock making :)
Do you ever pressure can this broth so it’s shelf stable?
How long do you let the broth cool before it goes in the fridge?
I always throw a chicken foot in my broth for gelatin and collagen
Anne, I do the same. So much flavour too.
Do you have any storing tips? For the fridge or pantry?
I love your videos and you make things simple! I’m wondering why you do 120 minutes at a time? instead of setting it for example for 4 hours
the max setting on the IP is 120 minutes
I just found your channel and I really like it :)
Thank you so much!
Can you slow cook it for 12 hours on slow cooker?
I found that adding onions and herbs to my bone broth always tended to get overdone (when using the crock pot) this gave almost a burnt flavor and I did not like it. I'm hoping the Instant Pot recipe will be different. Thanks for the video.
