I love the idea about the positive pressure air intake. I also like the preheating of the combustion gas. I am building a gasifier similar to flash001usa's . The magnahelic is also a nice touch. I may incorperate some of these great ideas. Thanks for sharing .

    David,
Thanks for the compliment, I am new to this process and learning with all the others. In this run the grate was shook too much and it was the wrong design.
In the next run (video) I had modified the grate and only shook it 3 times over a 2-1/2hr run. The metal shavings will do some filtering but will work better if they are wet so as to collect the particulates (tar) in the gas stream.

Use gas filters for a small engine for the magnehelic gauge. We use them is the dust collection industry.

    Teck,
Thanks I saw Flash's filters and he has done well in that arena. I have less than 10hrs of gasifier experience so I'm just beginning to learn. The unit I built is an R&D unit to understand whats going on inside and how to monitor and control the process. So far I have determined that you can make flammable gas that is tarr laden and sometimes you can produce gas where the vapor is translucent and burns almost invisible. I plan on building a unit to heat my home and one to power my car.

    Tri,
I dont have a condensate ring. That could be in the works down the road but using kiln dried wood has been the solution for the moment.

I have found that if i just run pellets i make tar in our system, mix pellets with wood chips and no problems at all.
we just use wood chips in our filter. I personally don't believe you can filter tar. just don't make it in the first place... :) easier said than done.

also as it looks you're not taking condensate out of the hopper so you will have all of that going through your heart. 40lbs of wood chips at 20% is 8lbs of water... a gallon of liquid your fire has to deal with. and trust me, it does affect gas quality.

I like the setup so far if your on the look for good simple filtering check out flash001USA his cold pvc pipe filtering is one of the slickest out there i have seen so far to date! Its easy to clean to work with! Like i said great job so far looking farward to seeing more vids on it!
