Best find was a stack of 13 NES games for $13 dollars at a flea market and they turned out to be worth over $500. Turned those games into an SNES and a bunch of my favorite games for the system (Secret of Mana, Link to the Past, Super Metroid, etc). Didn't realize DVD's were still going for a decent amount. Nice Job!
+TedLogan I have scout iq app, so you say he's games , should I look for them since I am in the Philadelphia area. I have garage sale app, so maybe I will post them,
Also "looking for things you've never seen before" is such a great best practice! Once you've gone to 1,000 garage sales you get a sense for the things that are in most people's collection which means demand is low!
@ a thrift store here in Searcy, found an incredible Gamecube lot for $20: Console w/ Super Mario Sunshine inside, Metal Gear Solid, Animal Crossing, Disney's Haunted Mansion (sealed), Spongebob, 007 Nightfire, and a couple of others. It was at that moment I was hooked!
That is a great find! I just recently found a sealed Star Wars The Force Unleashed for the Wii at a nearby Goodwill for $2. I didn’t think it was possible.
@@jeromenestor4318 a week ago i found a 360 with kinect and 22 physical games for like 60 dollars ( i am not American and and i converted my money to dollars)
You kno whats crazy. I'm rewatching these because when i started watching 3 years ago i was in a bad place. It lifted my spirits. The chill vibe. I love the new stuff too. but im actually already nostalgic for the 10 dollar game collection. Life is 10x better now. But when im exausted i love this playlist
Craziest find for me was Eternal Darkness Sanity's Requiem for the gamecube at a goodwill for $2.00 sealed. Found it in the DVD section. Still makes me smile just thinking about it!
My favourite find: PS2 Resident Evil Code Veronica complete European Promo disk, including the jewelcase. For around 2 Euros. In the PAL market Sony sends out special promo copies of their games for reviews (websites, magazines, TV shows, sometimes even stores), which have a special, small label (or no label at all) and different printing on them. It is worth around 50 Euro (maybe more, it rarely pops up on ebay), so not the most valuable find, but a nice addition to my PS2 Promo collection. And I will not sell it. Also I just picked up two PS3 Slims yesterday from the post office, that I had bought on ebay. I paid around 20 Euro for both, they were sold as untested/defective from a household clearance (or from someone that does these clearances). One is in very, very good shape, the other one has some scratches, but nothing really bad. Both work perfectly, they have never been opened and the warranty seals are still intact. I am not sure if I keep the better looking one or sell both, but all in all they are worth atleast 100 Euro.
@@retrorick This is how it looks like: www.crimson-ceremony.net/lostreleases/item.php?id=redemo_recvx-ps2-eur-promo1 Sony started doing this with PS2 games and still sends out copies like these for PS4 games.
My craziest find was during the first month I started game hunting a couple years back. Picked up a SNES lot that included great titles such as Super Mario World, Super Mario All-stars, Link to the Past with the console and controllers and few other games for $30 at a garage sale. There may have been 8 or so games in the lot but I was most interested in the Mario games since I didn’t have a SNES at that time. When I sorted through the rest of the games there was a mint copy of Earthbound. Since I had just started the collection I had to sell it off so I could put more money back in the fund. Got $200 on eBay. This was a game changer for me and fueled my passion to build my collection for free.
Great video Rick! This content is great for folks who want to finance their collection for free using these methods. My craziest find was at a garage sale when i was a little kid. I found a whole collection of the Ultima games for the computer. There were the 3.5" discs and the 5" floppy discs, and all of the games were complete in box with the nice fabric maps on the inside. The person was a friend of the family, so i paid a buck for all of them! I never sold them because they look great on my game shelf next to a famicom and some old Atari games, but they remind me of a time when games and consoles were simple.
Was at Savers just getting in the game of reselling and I found a floppy disc complete in box copy of Rise of the Triad Dark War. I never realized that old pc games were worth so much money but I paid 1 dollar for it and sold it for $125 within days of listing it.
Last weekend i bought Kuon for the PS2 for $2.00 and sold the same day for $250.00+ $50.00 store credit at a local retro gaming store. It went into the owners personal collection, that was my best pick by far, so far
@@retrorick Thank you sir, that means a lot coming from you. Really enjoy your content, it's always a plus to like what you're into as well as learn some things too. Past 2 days I've going to goodwill and they're empty.
I got a lot with an GBA AGS101 and AGB101 and both metroid and Zelda games for next to nothing (like €30 or something) on my local Craigslist. The listing didn’t note it was an AGB101 so that was a big surprise!
One of the better finds I had was in a thrift store in Houston TX. The store was ran by a little Asian woman and it reminded me of the store from the Gremlins movie. Narrow shelves with all kinds of random stuff on them. Anyway I told her I was looking for video game stuff and she said grab whatever you want and i'll make you a good deal. Here's what I found: An Regular Version N64 with a Nintendo Brand carrying case w& all hookup & a grey controller. Found 2 Sega Genesis Model 1's & 2 Model 2's with all the hookups & 8 controllers. Found a boxed Sega Saturn with controllers and a loose Sega Saturn with controllers & all hookups. Also found a loose Sega Dreamcast with hookups & a controller. I believe it had Virtual Fighter with it too. Also had the Dreamcast keyboard in the box. Found a Model 1 Intellivision in the box with all hookup and about 15 boxed games with controller inserts. Found 5 PS1 consoles one of of them being an original launch model that you can run burned games on & it had the extra I/O port on back. Found a PS2 launch version with controller and all hookups. I also found a few common Sega CD games mostly sports titles, some common sega saturn along with Nights into Dreams, and some boxed genesis games all sports titles boxing, madden, etc. Grand Total, $100. One of the best deals for video game stuff I've ever found.
Still really like that you show alternate items to flip to help fund the game collection. Those flea market prices you're seeing--that's like our area--ugh, c'mon people! Hey, we love That Thing You Do! Agreed--underrated movie! Also, the Oneders are pretty good, but we're partial to Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters. Hmmm...I don't know if it's the craziest find, but a working Pac-Man World Pachinko machine for about $20 was pretty nifty--never expected to find that!
Get a JFJ Easy Pro so you never have to pass up a game or DVD, worth money, that you find scratched. They're TOTALLY worth it and will pay for themselves!
Found a lot of like 15 NES games for 50 cents each at a garage sale. It was my next door neighbors garage sale and i was just a kid so id walk home, grab 50 cents, walk back and buy them one at a time LOL i still have all the games to this day!
I had some crazy finds... At some old stores that used to sell videogames but they ran out of business. I found a sealed copy of Shadow of the colossus for 5€, A lot of gameboy colour and Advance brand new sealed for 20€ and yoshis island was one of them... but i belive that my greates luck was to find a complete colection of games and consoles for 100€. NES in box, SNES in Box, Super Scope, N64 loose and Gamecube in box with almost 70 games between all the consoles. Was really an amazing find...
Recently I found Luigi’s Mansion for $3, Paper Mario for $20, Ogre Battle on SNES for $5. Those were surprises for sure. The find that got me the most excited recently had to be a dozen Disney movies on Laserdisc.
My best second hand store find was an entire set of Cutco knives at my local Salvation Army for $6. Retail price for the set is $1,300, and they have a free lifetime warranty, so I sent them in and got all new ones.
Found a binder of pokemon cards at a flea market for 10$. Was mostly junk except for some odd japanese cards from around 1996. Graded a couple through PSA and sold just 1 card for 600$ just yesterday. Also picked up a vintage playstation store displaylamp for 15$ just 2 weeks ago! Love thrifting :D
I bought a lot of snes games (61 titles) for roughly 1.5 $ a piece a few years ago at a fleamarket. Nice titles like shadowrun, soulblazer, zombies ate my neighbors, wild guns, axelay, Illusion of Time and Blackthorne to name a few.
I found on Facebook marketplace a few months ago this older gentleman selling boxes and boxes of big box pc games for 5 bucks each. I got a copy of Sam and Max hit the road and while it was missing the cd it had an unopened sealed hint book inside which seemed rare and i sold it for 50 bucks.
I have not one, but two crazy finds that I picked up from my local thrift. The first was a new in box GameCube Gameboy advance player for $13 which i flipped for $200+. The other was a minty fresh Magnavox DVD recorder with a 320 GB hard drive. Came with the original instruction manual and remote. Paid $12 and sold it for $500.
Dang! I’d have been real tempted to keep that GBA player, but that’s a heck of a flip! Also I should really sell that Panasonic DVD Recorder VHS combo that I haven’t touched in 5 years. lol
B Hath I would’ve totally kept it if not for the fact that I already have a GameCube GBA player. Also would have kept that DVD recorder, but I also have a Panasonic combo unit and that is the far better machine to use.
Was at a Gamestop right when the Switch first launch. Naturally that was what I was hoping to get. Didn’t get the Switch but I saw an NES classic right behind the counter. This was when there was only one run and that was it. There was no sign of these having a second run. I asked the cashier if it was the box only. He said no, it was the whole package. I instantly picked it up, the Grin on my face lasted the rest of the day. No lie
Probably my craziest find was at a small town antique store and it was 2 different 24” Shogun Warriors toys, Raydeen and Gaiking. Paid $10 for both and ended up selling both for more than $200!!! Lol👍🤑
Best flea market find was dragon warrior 4 CIB for $10. Best thrift store find was a loose mutant league hockey for $3. I still dream about those days hah
One of my best finds was when I got a Xbox 360 for 5 bucks at a garage sale, and I still think about that moment and it helps me keep looking at thrift stores and garage sales!
Craziest find ever is hard to narrow down. I did find Raiden Project longbox for PS1 today at Goodwill for $3.99, and Def Jam Fight for NY for $4.99 this week also
I would have to say my craziest find was a loose disk copy of dragon ball z budokai tenkaichi 3 for the ps2 which was pretty scratched up but after a few times of running it through my JFJ easy pro I was able to remove the scratches and got the game to work as it should! So if you don’t already have a resurfacing machine you should definitely get one because if you ever find a $50+ game or dvd or dvd set for cheap that’s scratched that doesn’t work or has moments where it freezes or skips you could possibly fix it and make a lot of money or add a expensive item to your collection for cheap or free depending on what else you find that you can flip! Also another crazy find that I would like to add is years ago I got a game boy player with the disk at a game store for about $20 and now it is worth about $100 because of how expensive the disk is! The reason I didn’t put the game boy player find in a separate post is because I wasn’t sure if it was against the giveaway rules to post more than 1 comment to improve chances of having my comment being selected!
Great finds man! I know, ive been on the fence for awhile now on getting a JFJ...i really need to, especially with all the disc based stuff i find and resell, thanks for the recommendation!
My greatest fine was at goodwill, I saw a lady come from the back room carrying a big cardborad box and she set it down in the sporting good sections...so I walk over, saw about 5 price tags on top that said $19.99... I open the lid and the first thing I saw was a Vectrex... my heart started racing... Also in the box is an Atari 2600 and 40 games, multiple controllers, all hooksups... My latest score was a vintage hockey mask I paid $3 for and sold on ebay for $350 ... I have been thrift store hunting since the mid 90s
I put a post of my Facebook page says looking for video games and systems. I had multiple people mostly friends reach out to me. In one week I received a loose red Nintendo Wii, white Nintendo Wii, 2 jungle green Nintendo 64, OG Xbox and a game bit color turquoise. All cane with games and were FREE! A week late I had another friend message me with a NES, SNES and OG gameboy with all game in boxes still for $150. These are my crazy’s awesome finds!
Retro Rick man that’s dumb that they get flagged. I posted during are high season of garage sales. These people who donated know I collected and I’d take great care of it. Plus enjoy it which is what they wanted.
My best was a Facebook marketplace pick up. SNES console 16 SOLID games, DKC1,2 street fighter, mega man x, Super Metroid, turtles in time, Mario Kart and few other really good ones. Was asking $100, with 1 very poor picture posted. I saw the console was in rough shape, I barely mentioned the rough shape console and he talked HIMSELF down to $70. I took it and ran haha Cleaned console up and paired with few sports titles, sold that a few later for $75. Kept good titles
The craziest find ever is when I first got into the original Spyro the dragon series, I look at this store called McKay’s where I buy most of my games manga anime etc. and I will take a chance with the scratched/ bargain bin games. I found a copy of Spyro the dragon complete for PS1 not one scratch for 18 cents and at the time of this find the crash and Spyro trilogy’s hadn’t come out yet so they were worth some money then.
I haven't been in the retro hunting world for too long. But my best find in the last year and a half was at a pawn shop, I found Paper Mario Thousand Year Door and Super Mario Sunshine for 2 dollars each. Then right after that down the road at a Salvation Army I found a box of GB games and the girl sold them all to me for $23! I was floored, the whole day turned into the best hunting day I've ever had. Definitely one of those days you dont get alot of, but when you do, it fuels your fire for many hunts to come ;)
Recently found a Disney Sports soccer game for gamecube at good will, and a motherboard they put in toys for 4$! Always check more sections than just the dvd's!. Craziest find is probably a CIB Mario party 4 for 2$. Great video as usual!
My craziest find just happened 2 weeks ago. Found rescue rangers 2 at a local thrift fair for $4. Turned around and sold it for $150 which got me a nes system and some cash in my pocket. Congrats on 5000 subs by the way, love the channel.
My favorite find was a complete in box Mario world 3 for 2euro. Nothing rare but it's my favorite nes game. I display it proudly in my gameroom. Loved the sonic game you picked up!
The best games that I have found for cheap prices was GTA Director Cut for $20, Urban Fighter $15, Castlevania symphony of nights good will $5 and Alien Hominid for $12. Great find and find games.
I had a tyco rc typhoon when I was a kid and a few years ago I was thinking about how I wanted one again , looked it up on ebay but was goin for 50-100, following week found a complete mint tyco typhoon for $10bucks at goodwill
My best find was at a flea market. I bought a box full of star wars figures for $175. I soon discovered that they were all prototypes and ended up selling them for $20,000.
I found a Gamecube collection at a consignment store here, and picked it up for less than $30. I made a couple hundred dollars off of alot of it, and kept what I wanted! Also.....That Thing You Do is definitely a favorite of mine. Cap'n Geetch & the Shrimp Shack Shooters!
My 2 craziest finds are: a Hap Henriksen prototype statue that was signed by him. Worth over a grand. Paid $4 for it. Also I found a real Ansel Adams photograph. The value is unknown. My research figures it is worth between $300 - $50k depending on year it was developed. Paid $13 for it.
When I was a little kid I found a garage sale right around the corner from me. I found a full Dreamcast system with a bunch of games, including Marvel vs. Capcom! Definitely my best find
I picked up a n64 game bundle about 2 years ago for $40 with a mix of other games and systems. Not knowing, I was playing a very rare game from Blockbuster. Turns out it was Clayfighter Sculptured Cut. To this day it was my best find cause I had No idea of its value.
Wow can't believe you found the 101 Dalmatians ones. Unreal especially that 2 pack! Thing is sweet. I've never found either one out in the wild so just have the VHS for now. I collect movies, music and video games so harder for me to not hold onto things haha.
I just today bought a pair of Tony Lama ostrich skin boots for $12 at a goodwill. Didn't see anything similar but all the Lama boots were no less than $40.
My Craziest find happened during a lunch thrift pickup. Actually went later than usual and on a day I usually don’t go because of a work meeting during my normal lunch hour. They were literally putting the games into the glass case right when I walked in. I usually only find ps2 & Wii games at this shop, but that day they were putting retro games in there. I said how much are they, they said normally $3 but since these are older, $2 a game. I was like, well I’m going to buy all of them (14 n64 games - 6 boxed, 4 SNES games - 2 boxed, 3 NES). She said, oh, if you are going to buy all of them, I can cut you a deal - How’s $30? I couldn’t say yeah fast enough. Highlights were Paper Mario, Mario Party 3, Mega Man 64, Star Fox 64 & Quest 64 all CIB & Goemon’s Great Adventure and Ogre Battle 64 loose carts.
Retro Rick I’ve found a few other things since then in that same store but I’ve also been a little late a couple times and got the leavins too. One of those times a friend of one of the workers mentioned to call him if anything like that comes in again so probably won’t hit it big again there. I did find 3 CD-i games there last month though with one of them being Hotel Mario- definitely dumb luck though because they sat them with the computer games on the dvd shelf since the cd-i cases had those same sleeves like those cheap big fish games.
im honestly finding your videos so inspirational, i was huge into video games and 80's, 90's but the Wife doesnt want me "wasting" money on that stuff. I love hunting for resales so this should be a fun new way of building up my collection. love the process =]
@@retrorick im happy to report in only a few days im up a couple of hundred however i reinvested it into more items so i have inventory to sell haha im not as patient as you to start with only 10 bucks though. i started my collection/hobby/side hustle with a hundred bucks haha thanks again and keep cranking these videos. i just followed you on instagram last week and you have a beefy following. im sure this TH-cam thing will kick off especially because people have time on their hands to watch vids. haha
At a yard sale I got a stack of gamecube games including kirby's airride, animal crossing, Mario sunshine for 5 bucks. Last week at a salvation army I got 11 n64 games and 1 snes game. Lots of star wars and pokemon. 1.99 each.
Best find I ever had was the GameCube Gameboy Player disc, complete with sleeve and case, for $1.75! That same thrift store had all games for $5, so I built up my GameCube collection there with most of the AAA titles over a couple of years.
My best find was probably a 90’s Pokemon binder full of vintage Pokemon cards (we’re talking Gen 1 and 2) from an older man at a flea market. Unfortunately, right before we came, a younger man bought all the holos. Who knows, could have been a Lugia or Charizard in there.
I try to go to thrift stores as much as I can but i'm only 14 but my craziest find has to be,I went to a thrift store and got a ps2 slim for a dollar(had a coupon), Wario land 3 for 3$,plants vs zombies ds complete for 3$,and madden 20 xbox one sealed for 6$ I was freaking out I've been doing this for about a year now and that has to be my best and favorite stop.
The craziest thing I found was a sealed NARC for the NES. I know it’s not worth a lot but just find a sealed nes game in perfect condition at a Goodwill was just awesome!
I'd say a lot of 3 Virtual Boys as-is for I think $15. We ended up with 2 working ones between all 3. I'm one of the few who has fond memories of that system. We got a good portion of the library cheap around that time too.
I know it’s not a $.25 find but I found a Vectrex at a game store for $150. I knew what it was when I saw it. He knew what he had, but I didn’t realize what they sell for until I got home. I really like choosing which one I’ll try next.
I haven’t run into anything crazy big but I found an awesome assortment of Mario Ds games, Wii bag, and collector edition DVD’s. Most recently found Toy Story on the Wii and was surprised at the value of the game. My 2 year old loves to play it.
Last year I walked into my local comic and game shop. Found a copy of SNES Hagane (~$500 - $600) on the shelf for $30 in basically mint condition. I was pretty sure it was legit copy at the time, but paid for it and left. Got home and verify it was the real deal. I keep going back to the place, but haven't found anything like that since. All the other games are usually priced at or above market value. They must have just messed up on that one and didn't know it was a rare game.
So far my best finds for my $10 game collection have been Adventures of Pete and Pete season 2 for $2 and Wii Sports Resort for 52¢. These have helped the game fund immensely!
Craziest find was at a yard sale around the time when I was going to college. I was riding my bike and found the yard sale. I spotted a NES game collection. It included 2 Zappers, the NES, two controllers and the following games. Legend of Zelda 1 and 2, Rad Racer, Ikari Warriors, Super Mario Bros. /Duck Hunt (2 copies), Q-bert, Operation Wolf, Super Mario Bros. 2, Fighting Golf, and Tetris 2. I think also there was a PS1 or 2 memory card that was hidden inside the box, but all in all got it for $40! Such a steal to me and still have that very NES after years of owning it.
Been a few years ago, but the zombies ate my neighbors alternate box art. Found on Craigslist in a lot with a bunch of complete in box snes games and system. Breakdown was about $10 a game. Sold the zombies for what was a fortune then, might have been a better plan to hold onto it given the scarcity.
I haven't had too much luck, don't have my license so can only get to second hand shops when someone offers a ride. That being said, I found Teen Titans on PS2 mixed in the DVDs for $1, I also found Ratchet Clank: Up Your Arsenal for $1, but that's it as far as games go. Opening cases is one of the best things you can do though, I had my childhood copy of the SpongeBob Movie at home, but the disc was scratched up bad and thrown away years ago, but I checked the case of a DVD I was interested in, and what do you know, SpongeBob Movie was in there, and I had the case at home, not an expensive find, but it made me happy.
There was this huge card sale event that I attended in my town once. I never knew my town would do such events since nothing really happens here. I heard about the event from a local shop collector after bringing up a conversation about how hard it was finding Pokemon Hidden Fates (it still is to this day lol). He mentioned a card sale event that will take place over the weekend and suggested I should check it out for a chance to find some Hidden Fates. I took his advice and thanked him. The event date arrived and I was extremely thrilled. As I walked into the event, there were tables filled with the collectors' cards congesting the room. Unfortunately, I did not stumble into any sealed Hidden Fates. On the bright side, I ran into my old hobby, Yugioh Cards! I bought some from the collector selling them, but none were really worth anything -- I just wanted to walk out with something after attending my first card sale event at the very least haha. The collector encouraged me to check out his card shop about 30 mins away from my town, which I surprisingly never knew about. He said he has better Yugioh cards there. I took his advice as well and thanked him. I haven't collected Yugioh Cards for some time but the passion was beginning to burn. A few days later I checked out his card shop. It was a smaller business. I didn't know what to really expect from a smaller business but you never know. I always try to keep an open mind. As I walked to the back of the store, I noticed a table filled with bins stacked with Yugioh cards. I asked if I can check it out and the worker said yes, but stated nothing is organized atm. As I swiftly shuffle through the billions of cards from years of practice with collecting cardboard, I was blown away from the rare cards I was finding. Amidst the findings, the worker said they had more bins and would gladly let me look through them. From the rare findings I had already discovered, I couldn't let down that offer. I ended up staying for about 4 hours just looking through their cards lol. I stayed till the store closed with a pile of Yugioh Cards I thought were rare and some I knew were definitely rare. Because there wasn't a price yet for the disorganized Yugioh Cards they had in their store, the worker was willing to sell it to me for 5 cents per card..........Let me reiterate that again, 5 cents per card! My spirit left my body for a moment when I heard the price. Trying to come back to reality, I stumbled upon words and uttered, "Ye..Ye...Yeah Sure!" I ended up spending roughly $63. Just to name a few grails I found: 1st ed Red-Eyes B. Dragon LOB, 1st ed Thousand Dragon MRD, a bunch of others from the 1st sets to newer, and stacks of ultimate rares (my favorite rarity!). If you made it this far, thank you for reading my lame yet happy experience! lol Now that everything is laid out, who wants to be sent to the shadow realm? :)
I hunt a lot so I will just tell you about my most recent score. At a flea market I found complete in box Nintendo Gamecube games for $3 each. The legend of Zelda Wind Waker, Luigi's Mansion, Pokémon Colosseum, and Pokémon Gale Of Darkness XD were the best titles out of the 15 that I bought.
Great videos Rick. Basically the 10 dollar game collection strategy comes down to buying stuff cheap from people who don't know the value of the stuff they got. Keep it up ! ;-)
My craziest find would have to be one of my recent finds its not the most valuable but i found a cib super glove ball for the nes and star strike cin for intelivision in a good will and i never see boxed nes games so it was awesome for me
WHO is buying Country Heat for $40?!! Good tips on the DvD scores. I pass on those all the time because of how aggressive it is in this area now. You gotta scan the games and boogie to the next place or you ain’t gettin dook. Years ago it was never that way. Speaking of years ago, my zaniest pickup. A boxed complete Turbografx with 7 games, booster, tap & Turbo stick. $10 for the lot at some dudes yard sale.
Found a sealed copy of elder scrolls 2 for the pc at the flea market. Bought it for $2 and flipped it for $125 to someone in Germany. Never feel comfortable doing international shipping but this guy really really wanted it.
I got a pretty awesome gamecube lot for $150 a while back, a system with 2 official controllers and 3 unofficial, and about 8 games, with the gem being PSO 1/2 Plus, also had a complete Melee, Metroid Prime, and Super Monkey Ball. It also had the Zelda CE, but the cover was slightly torn and no manual.
My craziest find was at a garage sale where I got a big advertisement poster from a game store for Mario Party 2 for only $5. Got it hanging on my wall and it’s awesome!
I'm having a hard time answering this weeks question because I don't collect video games. But I will say that I stood in line back in 2011 for the Skyrim collectors edition. That dragon statue really held it's value and I was able to sell just the dragon years later for the cost of the collectors edition in total.
Craziest find was Final Fantasy III CIB for $10 from a guy that had closed his rental store. Became one my favorite games ever. Still kicking myself for not just buying all he had back then, which included Megaman X3 CIB.
Retro Rick I got New Yoshi’s island complete, Pokémon Moon brand new, and I also got Mario Luigi Bowsers Inside story complete but it’s a regular DS game.
Best pick up at a second hand store would probably be the sealed Mario paint I got for $5. Wasn’t sure of the value at the time but knew for $5 I had to grab it. A year later I traded it for Chrono trigger. $5 Chrono is good to me
My craziest find was a FB marketplace for CIB jungle green N64 then when I got there mentioned he had some other games pulls out an orange GameCube with orange game boy player. Then said he’d throw it in for free. Best experience off marketplace!
I've been very lucky with scores in my area. I think my first score is the most sentimental. I picked up a nes and atari collection with 150 games for $50. In there was Power blade 2. I've been hooked ever since.
Biggest score was finding new sealed in box m.a.s.k action figure vehicle collection, unfortunately I didn't know how good they were and only bought half the collection.
About 5 years ago I found a gamecube copy of Zelda Windwalker complete and in excellent condition for $2, sold it on ebay for $80! A few days later I found Metroid Prime also for $2, sold it for $35. At a yard sale a few years ago I found a Boba Fett 12" Action Figure, and a Michael Myers 18" action figure...I only payed $25 for them both and got $70 for Boba Fett & $120 for Michael. But the best deal I've ever received was on a crate of used Records (about 40) for $100, I kept 6 of them and sold the remaining 34-36 of them for over $800.
Tip for people wanting to start selling DVDs. Go to Ebay look up the term DVD and click on completed listings. Then sort by highest price sold. At this point I would take out a spread sheet and start with the top dvd cut and paste the picture into the spread sheet to remind you what to look for. Put the price it sold for. Repeat this for at least 100 dvds. And if you see the same dvds selling more then once then put each price into your spread sheet. After doing that for an hour or two you now have a general idea of what dvds you want to look out for. Of course you can still scan and look up stuff at the store, but if you notice those dvds that are selling for $10, $20, $50, $100 you will have the knowledge. I would then work on that excel sheet a little bit each day until you become a master at knowing what to grab.
One of my best finds was finding a bunch of DMGs at a flea market. I got 4 of them and a Gameboy printer for $20. They needed a little repair, but I ended up selling them for $70 each.
I picked up around 30 games at a thrift store all priced at $1.89. It had PS1, PS2, Genesis, Game Gear and original gameboy games. Among those were Silent Hill for PS1 and 4 complete in box Gameboy games like in great condition.
My craziest find would definitely be finding Lufia 2 for the SNES, at a Goodwill outlet, this was roughly about 2 years ago. And I'm still currently trying to find the box/manual for it.(:
Biggest score was buying 20 TI-84 calculators for $60 at a flea market. Ended selling all of them for $1k on eBay.
Good Lord that's a lot of money! Nice...
Dang, ive never had a calculator haul like that but there are 4 colleges in my town....i kill around May picking them up
@@tedlogan5628 Yeah dude, he should take us out for dinner
@Beastslayer14 did you sell them as a lot or individually?

Best find was a stack of 13 NES games for $13 dollars at a flea market and they turned out to be worth over $500. Turned those games into an SNES and a bunch of my favorite games for the system (Secret of Mana, Link to the Past, Super Metroid, etc). Didn't realize DVD's were still going for a decent amount. Nice Job!
Holy crap man, that is amazing! Yes dude, lots to be made in dvds!
Exactly! You need to start a youtube channel and teach us
@ a thrift store here in Searcy, found an incredible Gamecube lot for $20: Console w/ Super Mario Sunshine inside, Metal Gear Solid, Animal Crossing, Disney's Haunted Mansion (sealed), Spongebob, 007 Nightfire, and a couple of others. It was at that moment I was hooked!
The thrill of the hunt keeps us coming back!
Watching all the episodes on this series right now while I work because this content is absolutely fascinating to me. Good stuff, keep it going.
Thank you so much Cory! I’m glad you are enjoying it!
One of my craziest finds was at salvation army picked up SEALED marvel vs capcom 2 on ps2!!!!
What the heck man, thats insane! Great pickup
I once found a xbox one and 360 and like 30 games at a pawn shop for 200 bucks like 3 years ago
@@brockjaxton3812 lol why would you like to hack your friend kinda mess up unless it was for pranking
Holy cow, that is amazing! Great find
I have that one.
My craziest find: I got Fire Emblem for the Gamecube (complete) for $3...never will see that game again probably
Probably not but amazing find!
That is amazing! I have a soft spot for promo items!
@@retrorick This is how it looks like: www.crimson-ceremony.net/lostreleases/item.php?id=redemo_recvx-ps2-eur-promo1
Sony started doing this with PS2 games and still sends out copies like these for PS4 games.
@@MyRegardsToTheDodo That is awesome man!
Oh man, that is a perfect story of the thrill of the hunt...keeps you coming back for more!
Only way to build a collection in my opinion....and great find on the Ultima games!
Was at Savers just getting in the game of reselling and I found a floppy disc complete in box copy of Rise of the Triad Dark War. I never realized that old pc games were worth so much money but I paid 1 dollar for it and sold it for $125 within days of listing it.
Hot dang, ive never looked at PC games..something else for me to learn about!
Retro Rick heck yeah man! It’s amazing the things you find. I learn a lot from all of you including tatted, chase and renebean.
Jake Dominguez that’s awesome, those my boys!
I will keep that in mind.
Last weekend i bought Kuon for the PS2 for $2.00 and sold the same day for $250.00+ $50.00 store credit at a local retro gaming store. It went into the owners personal collection, that was my best pick by far, so far
WHAT A FIND! Congrats..freaking amazing
Yes! I always love seeing GBA's that are noted which model...can scoop up the 101's cheap every now and then!
Holy crap man, God bless that little asian lady! I used to live in the houston area
For sure man, i learn every week about different items that you can flip quick for cash! I bet that Pac Man machine is amazing!
Craziest find..We were in Hawaii. I got a Xbox and ps1, ps2 collection. Bags of games from a guy for under $100 dollars. Probably over 200 games.

hahaha that is awesome...i need to do a video on just all these amazing finds!
Was really an amazing find...
dang man, that is a crap ton of games...great find!
I found my mint copy of Metroid on nes for 50p in a charity shop years ago... doubt it will ever happen again 😂
ha yes very doubtful to have that reoccur but awesome it did that one time!
My wife found a Zelda NES game still factory sealed for $5 at a garage sale. Boom
I love that story...on of my favorites!
My best find was a sega genesis cd system and games for $40. This was my first ever find at a garage sale.
Ha that is awesome, makes you want to go to every garage sale now i bet....never know what you are going to find
Recently I found Luigi’s Mansion for $3, Paper Mario for $20, Ogre Battle on SNES for $5. Those were surprises for sure. The find that got me the most excited recently had to be a dozen Disney movies on Laserdisc.
Dang, those are great scores! Ogre battle for $5 especially
My best second hand store find was an entire set of Cutco knives at my local Salvation Army for $6. Retail price for the set is $1,300, and they have a free lifetime warranty, so I sent them in and got all new ones.

Oh dang, that is an amazing haul for dirt cheap!
I have had a few. Even a huge gamecube haul at a goodwill last year. The scores are still out there. People just need to have patience.

Nice pick up man, yes there are some pc games that can make you some quick cash!
Sick scores! You can make some serious money on DVD recorders if you find the right ones!
No lie
Nice! I remember when those were quite the hot commodity!
Probably my craziest find was at a small town antique store and it was 2 different 24” Shogun Warriors toys, Raydeen and Gaiking. Paid $10 for both and ended up selling both for more than $200!!! Lol👍🤑
What the heck, that is amazing man!

I did find Raiden Project longbox for PS1 today at Goodwill for $3.99, and Def Jam Fight for NY for $4.99 this week also
Nice! Crazy how much def jam NY goes for
I would have to say my craziest find was a loose disk copy of dragon ball z budokai tenkaichi 3 for the ps2 which was pretty scratched up but after a few times of running it through my JFJ easy pro I was able to remove the scratches and got the game to work as it should!

Amazing find my friend.....Also, Spyro is amazing, so many memories for me playing the demo of that with my sisters
I haven't been in the retro hunting world for too long. But my best find in the last year and a half was at a pawn shop, I found Paper Mario Thousand Year Door and Super Mario Sunshine for 2 dollars each. I think also there was a PS1 or 2 memory card that was hidden inside the box, but all in all got it for $40! Such a steal to me and still have that very NES after years of owning it.
Country Heat 🤣
You seem like a country heat kind of guy 😘
Been a few years ago, but the zombies ate my neighbors alternate box art. Found on Craigslist in a lot with a bunch of complete in box snes games and system. Breakdown was about $10 a game. Sold the zombies for what was a fortune then, might have been a better plan to hold onto it given the scarcity.
That is insane...ive nevers even seen that in person...so rare!
Man, that is a great score...i need to find that in my area!
Great videos Rick. Basically the 10 dollar game collection strategy comes down to buying stuff cheap from people who don't know the value of the stuff they got. Keep it up ! ;-)
My craziest find would have to be one of my recent finds its not the most valuable but i found a cib super glove ball for the nes and star strike cin for intelivision in a good will and i never see boxed nes games so it was awesome for me
heck ya, anything boxed is what im all about...love adding cib pieces to the collection!
Best find was back in like 1999. Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers 2 at a yard sale. Pretty sure it was only $1 or so.
Holy frick man, what a find!!!
Haha i have no idea man....killer turbo pickup!
Best find for me was a complete in box and SEALED Gameboy Advance SP (backlit). Ended up being half off at the register at just $12.50. Sweet!!!
Holy crap, that is amazing...great score!
Found a sealed copy of elder scrolls 2 for the pc at the flea market. Bought it for $2 and flipped it for $125 to someone in Germany. Never feel comfortable doing international shipping but this guy really really wanted it.
Epic score....i need to educate myself in PC games...i know the right ones can sell for a ton
Love it! Im into any promo ad stuff...its like reliving going into my fav stores as a kid
I'm having a hard time answering this weeks question because I don't collect video games. But I will say that I stood in line back in 2011 for the Skyrim collectors edition. That dragon statue really held it's value and I was able to sell just the dragon years later for the cost of the collectors edition in total.
Id say that counts! Thanks for sharing man
Craziest find was Final Fantasy III CIB for $10 from a guy that had closed his rental store.
Became one my favorite games ever.
Still kicking myself for not just buying all he had back then, which included Megaman X3 CIB.
A really cool thing that I found was a bunch of 3ds games and a couple were brand new
Nice! What was some of the better games?
Retro Rick I got New Yoshi’s island complete, Pokémon Moon brand new, and I also got Mario Luigi Bowsers Inside story complete but it’s a regular DS game.
@@liampreyer6607 Yup, killer score, thanks for sharing!
Best pick up at a second hand store would probably be the sealed Mario paint I got for $5. Wasn’t sure of the value at the time but knew for $5 I had to grab it. A year later I traded it for Chrono trigger. $5 Chrono is good to me
Yes sir, ill take $5 chrono triggers all day!
My craziest find was a FB marketplace for CIB jungle green N64 then when I got there mentioned he had some other games pulls out an orange GameCube with orange game boy player. Then said he’d throw it in for free. Best experience off marketplace!
DANG! I never seen the funtastic n64 consoles boxed...ive been on the lookout for awhile...nice grab!
I've been very lucky with scores in my area. I think my first score is the most sentimental. I picked up a nes and atari collection with 150 games for $50. In there was Power blade 2. I've been hooked ever since.
Wow, about a quarter a game! Nothing like the thrill of the hunt
Found a GBSP at a garage sale for $10. Had some pretty solid games with it too!
Love it, one of my favorite handheld consoles!
Biggest score was finding new sealed in box m.a.s.k action figure vehicle collection, unfortunately I didn't know how good they were and only bought half the collection.
Very nice, my action figure collection has gotten out of hand 😂
Oh yeah do skip the urealistic sales at top, those 10K dvds are fake sales.
I'm binge watching these. Good content!
I love finding graphing calculators. Favorite was a TI-89 Titanium
I love flight of the navigator too. One of my favourite 80s scifi movies. I cannot believe the Glenn close 101 and 102 Dalmatians is worth that much 😯
One of my best finds was finding a bunch of DMGs at a flea market.
Epic score! Not to mention just an incredible game
