    FYI: If you support the wheel, there is no need to hammer the axle out and risk damaging the treads. It will just slide out easily. I sit behind it on a rolling seat and use my feet to support the wheel and just pull the axle out with my left hand. Not critiquing or criticizing, just offering up a helpful tip.

      @@MathieuTechMoto I can't believe you didn't mark up your rims doing that without protectors. I would have scarred the hell out of them lol. I love my BeadPro's but wished I would have gone for the longer ones like you have as I just don't get near the leverage from the shorter ones. Let us know how you like running darkside on your Vstrom. I've considered it since I tour exclusively on mine and it's nothing to go thru two rear tires in a year.

      @@andrewcole3425 I now use 42psi as pressure, tried 34psi and this was a very soft ride, the tire flex and make the bike feel wobbly, at 42psi feels really good, i often pass over potholes but the rear tire is so large that it just goes over them lol

    I am tempted to try this on my vstrom. Many people use car tyres on many different bikes. People who appose are scared to try something different. I come across a great tip using a ratchet strap around the bike to support wheel. I tried it and was amazed how easy it made the job . Cheers

      Thank you for sharing, i did about 20 000 kms on mine but came back to motorcycle tire because i was tired of the squared handling, i guess that it would be better on an heaviee bike

    How would you describe the grip when offroad? Is it better or worse than normal dual-sport tyres?

    • @MathieuTechMoto
      @MathieuTechMoto  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There is a lot more grip but train tracking on lateral slopes and imperfections is horrible

    Salut, comment est le feeling avec un passager? Je pense serieusement a faire ceci. On roule souvent a deux avec les saccoches pleines. Jai un strom 650xt 2018. Et hors route? Gravel surtout

    • @MathieuTechMoto
      @MathieuTechMoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      La moto a tendance à suivre les inclinaisons de la route avec un pneu d'auto, les symptômes sont amplifiés avec un passager , la tenue de route à haute vitesse est bonne , la longévité exceptionnelle , mais hors route dans les petits chemins la moto se fait incliner de tout les sens et il faut la combattre
      Sur la gravel ça fonctionne très bien et la moto est stable

    Wonderful video! I have a Yamaha MT-07 (5.5 inches rim size), what car tire i can use? 205/50/17 or with less width? Just for note, the Vstrom 650 has 4.5 inches rim size, and the 175/55-17 do not exist on my country (Brazil), is not a option. Thanks

    • @MathieuTechMoto
      @MathieuTechMoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, glad you enjoyed, 17 inch car tires are hard to find narrower than 205, you would need to measure the width of your swingarm and compare with the tire you want to install, i would suggest keep using motorcycle tires unless you are doing very long trips
      Cheer !

    Okay great vid, but why would you do that? Are there any benefits?

    • @MathieuTechMoto
      @MathieuTechMoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mainly for very high longevity, you can easily get 40k km (25k miles) of a single rear tire
      This is a very popular practice on Goldwing's because of the overload on stock motorcycle tires
      On a V-Strom you better just keep riding on motorcycle tires

    What Brand Tire/Size is that ? And why did you choose that side to add Weights? Also Friends that have Darksided typically run less than 40psi, Which is what I run.. 38-40 psi on M/C tires in the rear.. 36-38 Front

      @@fred.gram67gram32 Good morning, i had a Maxtrek m900 winter tire with a lot of tread for offroad , but i don't recommend car tire as it will have poor handling, especially with a passenger or offroad the bike angle will want to follow every inclinaison of the terrain, now i use Shinko 705 MC tires, unless you need a long lasting tire for long trips i would suggest to stay on motorcycle tires , you could probably have about 40 000km life off a car tire tho

      @@MathieuTechMoto hello sir. Thank u for the reply . Am sorry to bug u with this issue but I guess u have the prompt answer . I need to change to car tire coz it has more grip as u know but my question is did u ever slide/slip when u had a car tire ? Any accident at curves ? Unusual out of control issues ? In lebanon ,where I live , roads are so bad and grip is almost weak , many mountains and hills around. Now it's winter here . The mt900 is the line but what size did u use X/Y/17 ?? Is it 205/55/17 ? When u changed to car tire did the back of v strom get lower ? ur advice values sir and thank u again . If I change to car tire I will send u photos if u wish. Have a good day sir

    The only drawback to me is using a 205/50-17 car tire on my DL650 will make it taller still.

    I was wanting to lower it some !

    Why would I put a car tire on my bike?

    • @MathieuTechMoto
      @MathieuTechMoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A lot more grip on and offroad, smoother and quieter than my old Shinko 705, super stable on highway, if you doing a long trip a car tire will last about 40 000km , my shinko 705 was used up after only 13 000km, this tire already have 10 000km on it and still like new
      I'm doing a lot of highway, here in Quebec almost all roads are straight so i use only the center of my motorcycle tires
