aw thank you! ✨ yes, for dielines - if the dieline doesn’t already have a bleed included - you can add it using the offset path tool. when it comes to documents, you can add it to the artboard in the document advanced settings!

Just a quick question about the Pantone colours, when sending the illustrator file off to the print manufacturer, is there a way to choose the Pantone colour that you want in the illustrator file itself? And/or convert existing CMYK colours to a Pantone within illustrator, to then send to the manufacturer? Or do you just choose the CMYK colour within Illustrator, and then tell the manufacturer, "This green CMYK colour needs to be _____Pantone swatch." I hope my questions make sense, haha thank you!
hi! thank you first of all✨ usually we use pantones when a colour we want to use isn’t available in the CMYK scale, so what i do in that case is work with RBG colours and then find the perfect pantone match. there are websites (like code beautify) that convert hex codes to pantones, but since you’re seeing the colours on a screen there’s still a risk the colour won’t 100% look like that when printed. however it’s a great alternative if you don’t have pantone swatches! i hope i was helpful, thanks again for watching!✌🏻✨
Hi Viviana, I had another question about the dieline! I received a PDF box dieline, but not the Adobe Illustrator file. The dieline also does not have any measurements (just a simple outline, as shown in your video example). In order to use this dieline as a PDF, do you just upload the PDF into Illustrator and image trace it? & Do the measurements (or lack of measurements) and scale of the box dieline matter? Or will just placing the artwork onto the box dieline be fine (regardless of the scale or size), and then exporting the entire thing as a PDF, and sending it to the manufacturer be enough? I'd really appreciate your help with this! Thank you so much!
Hi! PDFs can be open on Illustrator and most of the times they will work just as an Illustrator file. All you need to do is just open it and if everything seems to be grouped together, check the layers and ungroup the artwork. As for the measurements, you should know from the supplier or the client the measurements of the box. It’s important to know beforehand to understand how big or small things are gonna be once they get printed in real life. If you download a dieline from a website, you will have your information about the size of the box there for sure. If a client is providing you the dieline, ask them for clarifications. Once you’re done with the work, you can either send them the file as a PDF, an Illustrator file or an EPS. The supplier will be able to either print it directly from the file or open it on Illustrator themselves and check if everything is where it’s supposed to be. Usually they give instructions about how the need the file to be sent too. I hope this was helpful ☺️
